Agreed, although I kind of love that about him, ahah. I love that our infallible scary General murder boy is also completely floundering and inexperienced with a woman he loves. I think its wonderful watching that growth too. Hopefully, she'll learn to properly apologize and take care of him too.
currently pn ep 6, why does ling buyi always have to be the one who says sorry like its not his fault 😭 someone…

omg thanks for posting this! i didn't know esther had a new drama! also the story looks so interesting!!
Its so great. Its my first drama with her and i was a little meh at first with her voice, but its super creative and cute with what they do with it (keeping it spoiler free!) By the end of Ep6, her character really really grows on me
Thanks for sharing. Shall give it a try now. Was originally intending to skip this, as the few xian xias that…
I was soo surprised by how good it is. Everything from the costumes, lighting, special effects, and main cast visuals are so pleasing to the eye. Theres even a scene between 2 characters that takes place within a painting. It was so beautiful!
I FINALLY found another drama that I'm absolutely feral over while waiting for LLTG episodes, and that is Love Between Fairy and Devil with Dylan Wang and Yu Shu Xin. First 6 ep are out, and the remaining release schedule is great. Its gorgeoussssss. The aesthetic is 🤌🤌🤌🤌🤌. SO hyped about it. Okay. Back to LLTG. Haha. 1 MORE DAY!

Yeah, i really havent noticed HUGE changes that would alter the plotline. Just changes with some of the scenes or characterizations, but I'm super happy with the changes to LBY and CSS. They were a bit more immature and he was a bit more handsy with her...it wouldnt have translated well to Wu Lei's version of LBY who would never do that. Idk. Im overall super happy with everything so maybe I'm an outlier. Some people here are throwing out phrases like, "the show went off the rails from the novel" and its just ridiculous 🥴🤣🙄
I mostly agree with your review (I usually do - and your reviews are always wonderfully written). It was a strange…
Also, I agree about WL's portrayal of LBY in the first few episodes. Definitely think he loosens up *a lot* with "tweedledee and tweedledum," and as he starts to have more interactions with CSS. I like WL's acting a lot. He's always impressed me with his ability to convey emotions so powerfully in his eyes, so I'm especially excited for him in P2 as the narrative shifts.
I mostly agree with your review (I usually do - and your reviews are always wonderfully written). It was a strange experience watching the mother-daughter relationship dynamic and seeing so clearly, the parallels with my mother during my childhood. I think that was one of the main reasons why I felt more empathetic toward the mother than most. I could see a woman's actions stained with a lifetime of difficult battles and decisions that haunt her. Someone battle-hardened but completely inexperienced in dealing with someone who so wholly reflects a mirror at her. Maybe the body language or the subtleties of her internal conflict weren't conveyed loud enough for many people to feel anything but hostility toward her. Still, I had a hard time pigeonholing her as one-dimensional. My issue with P1 was my impatience with the family dynamics in the first few episodes. I felt claustrophobic in the Cheng household. Still, I found myself missing them and their crazy antics later on (the bootcamp scene killlled me. So funny).

Right! I don't see why that's such a big deal. It totally works in the narrative with the changes in the relationship between LBY and CSS, and it also further expounds on the danger that CSS is putting herself and the people around her in with her foolishness, which works parallel with the novel plot points, so I don't see the issue. They also didn't kiss in the courtyard when CSS first met LBY's mom but where's the outrage there!! lmao. Their first kiss in the novel is when she kisses his adams apple at the banquet- and again, that was changed to a cheek kiss (which, IMO, based on the period, is WAY more salacious).
Does anyone who read the novel know what happens when LBY goes to battle in episodes 41-42 (according to the previews)?…
@noodle_dumpling - I mentioned in another comment, but he goes with Cui You (the nice man who has been beside LBY's mom this whole time) on an expedition to Shouchen to reprimand the rebels led by Peng Zhen (this is an extension of what was going on with the Wang family situation in earlier episodes). This *IS* book accurate, it's just out of sequence (the Wang family downfall doesn't happen until a few chapters down the line). Overall, I don't see anything negative about a reshuffling - and not a total renigging- of plot points for a more linear storyline. I don't know why so many people need to share false information or get so frazzled over small changes that haven't taken away from the novel's overall integrity.
@etgl1 - Respectfully, did you read the book? The drama has only gone off the novel in fairly small ways. The changes have not taken away from the overall plot, and the main points are all still intact.
Can someone who has read the novel tell me about the war LBY is going to at the end of episode 42 ??
He goes with Cui You (the nice man who has been beside LBY's mom this whole time) on an expedition to Shouchen to reprimand the rebels led by Peng Zhen (this is an extension of what was going on with the Wang father/son situation earlier- although a bit out of order since the conflict with Wang family is later down the road in the novel).
There are many scenes which director made a simple theme seem so profound and cause us to be invested - What are…
1. LBY helping CSS put her foot in the stirrup when they had their first private interaction. 2. CSS being unafraid of LBY's true face when he was accosting the deserted soldiers who tried to kill CSS and her actually coming to his level when she offered to kill them herself. 3. CSS acknowledging she is the galaxy and LBY is the sun, together they make a whole. 4. All of the moments you mentioned.
- amazing characters- great acting- great storytelling- really funny- great music- great camera work and directingThere,…
Thats so interesting. I actually think the music is nearly perfect throughout the entirety of the drama to the point that I've put a lot of effort into trying to find each OST. I haven't been this captivated by a dramas OST since The Untamed and Ashes of Love.

*makes me WEAK*.
