Disagree, I went into this as not a BL fan and completed it as still not a BL fan. If anything, the character of Xie Wei was the main draw here. The drama got a high rating from me for its storytelling, music, overall cast, and the emotions it was able to elicit from me as a viewer.

Yeah, I lost the desire to keep watching that drama after seeing that kiss scene. Same as how I'm unable to watch any AR dramas knowing he doesn't film real kiss scenes.

No, it looks fake like Allen Ren’s kiss scenes. If you watch the kiss scene from Derailment, you’ll see. Supposedly, her mom is controlling and doesn’t allow her to do real kisses 🤷🏻‍♀️

The way they were bonding over that game in Ep. 10 was so cute. First time I've seen him smiled so widely lol. She's kind of got a smart mouth on her. I love how she talks back to him underneath her breath sometimes, but acts like a kiss ass to his face 😂

If you watched it recently on iqiyi then it’s the deleted version. If you watched from unofficial sources then it’s uncut since they took the videos the week they were released. During broadcast, antis were taking screenshots of all the “ugly” camera angles and using them to diss the drama. A lot of them went viral on china’s social medias, including the shot of ZLH’s face when he hit the ground in ep.38(there were even viral videos on douyin comparing how the director made him look hitting the ground versus other actors in other dramas). ZLH’s Chinese fans had enough since they constantly have to deal with black fans attacking him, so they got really vocal in complaints with the drama’s official platforms until the drama went back and deleted that shot.

I was going to comment about the political category but saw you already did 👍 That had me scratching my head when the "winning" drama was featured while saying it had little politics compared to action. That list seems to be based on one person's opinion rather than any actual data. Additionally, even if two dramas have the same rating, it should also be taken into consideration the number of users who rated. An 8.8 from 5k users is worth more the highlight than an 8.8 from 2k users.

I’m liking that he’s starting to be sweeter around episode 8. He’s such a tsundere and I love their chemistry.

If you watch further to see more of his interaction with his mother you’ll understand that scene better in that this is the dynamic of their relationship. She has a flare for the dramatics and he teases her back with his responses to her antics. It’s not of ill will, just more like “I’m rolling my eyes at you being ridiculous again”.

The character in the novel is a traditional Chinese medicine doctor, which I think works better in ZLH's favor because medical Cdramas usually get trashed pretty badly by cnetz for their inaccuracies of real doctors' work. This is also more of an easy going, healing type of story in the vibes of "Meet Yourself". It's mainly a slice of life and nothing dramatic happens, unless the scriptwriter decides to add a personal touch lol... but I liked what this writer did with Hidden Love, so I trust that this will be good. This drama seems to have been in the works for a long time because it used to be rumored for YY and ZS back when they exploded from Love O2O
