idol drama can be a mega hit, so is main theme drama. both can flop too. there are many good idol dramas out there, idol dramas are not bad, it's the best way to gather younger audiences just that you can't stuck playing idol dramas forever cuz you're getting older and it won't polish your acting skill due to limited range of roles... plus not all idol dramas have good scripts. not all main theme dramas have good scripts either, it's all just preference
