The old man who gave Liao Yuan Jun the seal is a high position demon, elderly, who has the power to decide/monitor…
Muumm, I can not remember about the seal. It was more like a token. The kindness of Liao Yuan Jun impressed the old man. Since Liao Yuan Jun was dead, he paid back his kindness by supporting his master.
Does subbing historical cdrama is time consuming than modern one ? Our glamorous time is subbed very quickly compared…
It is definitely more difficult to properly translate lines in a historical drama than in a modern drama. In most historical dramas, the characters are talking in an old way, with chinese words which are no longer used in daily life now, very poetic, or with a lot of Daolism or Buddhism references or riddles. The translators must have certain knowledge about chinese culture, otherwise easily make mistakes. I’m not so sure if it is the major reason here but definitely one of the reasons. Sometimes if the drama is more popular, more people will join the sub team, hence faster.
I would say don’t force yourself to watch it just because of reviews I did that before and it honestly didn’t…
The FL in AOL is never a bad-ass type of girl like Fuyao. lol. Not physically. She is soft, sometimes annoying. Till the end, she never really fought in any battles but she fought her fate in her own way. Persistent, do what she can do for her friends, her love and herself. In a way, she is actually a very strong female character for me, also a fresh figure from all the bad-ass heroins which are quite popular in cdramaland in the last few years.
I have a question! Please help. Remember when Xu Feng’s personal guard, Lioayuan got that magical seal when…
The old man who gave Liao Yuan Jun the seal is a high position demon, elderly, who has the power to decide/monitor who should be on the position of the demon king. He later helped Xu Feng gain his title of the demon king.
What I like most about this drama is: 1. Action/fighting scenes. No crazy flying, no exaggerating dancing move, strong vibe of old classic Kongfu movies. Especially in ep6, blood burning hot! 2. NO Dubbs!!! From the young ML and FL to the HK and Taiwanese actors on set, they are all using their original voice. Such a rare treat!!!!
I did. And the servants had Pizza Hut logo on their uniforms *LOL*
Lol, the snack package in Chen PiPi’s hand is from a well known snacks brand in China. Ad placement in ancient c drama is not uncommon. Have you seen Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms? There are a lot of ad placements for one nuts/snacks brand inside. lol
Guys, watch out, it looks like there are people purposely dragging top cdramas rating down now. First AOL and now TMOPB. Just in very shot amount of time, like a week, a lot of 1 or 2 ratings (about 20 1s and 40 2s). There is a pattern here. First AOL, a lot of comparison with TMOPB then sb indicating the story is copying TMOPB, the fans of AOL were not happy, arguing back TMOPB's plagiary issue, thinking the rate dropping is because of TMOPB fans. Now TMOPB, a lot of comparison, then grunges towards AOL. Meanwhile both dramas ratings are dropping. See? So fans of cdramas, be alert! Did you notice, the ranking of NIF is also dropping? Don't fall into the trap!
OMG...I can't understand why there are so many people like the TV Drama and have a 9.1 rating for this drama..it's…
If you are talking about plagiary issue, not much to argue. But anything else, sorry, you should really check your eyes. The story about a lousy royal family in the heavenly realm with a mean royal emperor. Nothing wrong with it. Yes, they are gods. They are gods from the mythology origin. Did you ever read Greek or Rom Mythology? You know how ridiculous Zeus and Hera are? Most mythology are just reflection of the human world. No difference here.
Poor costume? Omg, I have questions about your taste then. TMOPB has the most beautiful costume design. A perfect balance between fantasy and modern simplicity. Are you still staying in 90s? Ye Hua is always in black, this is a setup from the novel. The designer put a lot of efforts on it to make them subtle and elegant, totally fitting Yehua's quiet personality. AHHHHHH
Something strange going on here. Now TMOPB’s rating is also going down to 8.9 by getting a lot of 1 recently. See the pattern here? First AOL and then TMOPB. Whoever did this might even want both drama fans to blame each other, so don’t fall into the trap! Even NIF is dropping, so far not the rating but the ranking. Someone wants to bring top cdrama ratings down.
WHO the hell brought down the greatest romance fantasy drama in history down to 8.9 this is clearly a 9.1 and…
I know your guys are thinking of AOL but sorry AOL suffering even worse attacking than this. I am fan of both and rated both over 9/10. From my observation, there is sth weird going on here. For example, AOL got over 20 1/10 in a week and then in another week suddenly got nearly 40 2/10 rating. Then AOL rating was dragged from over 9 to 8.6. It looks like the attacking is now toward TMOPB.
Although i am fan of TMOPB, i would say the plagiarism issue of the author of the original novel is a fact. Nearly everyone knows it before their ratings. We still could not resist to like the drama is simply because the drama itself is such a top production. Mark Chao rocks!
actually, the rating of this series on MDL is not low and quite high, because the rating in IMDB is only 7.1
Well, in China AOL is rated way better than TMOPB. On Douban, Chinese Nr. 1 rating site, AOL is currently 7.7/10 and TMOPB is 6.4/10. Douban users are way picky than Mydramalist and IMDB (over 7/10 is considered a fairly good drama) and the rating is on a way bigger user base. ie. AOL has over 160k users submitting their ratings. Therefore the score is fairly accurate. The low rating of TMOPB is largely because of the plagiary issue of its original novel.
AOL did not copy TMOPB or anything. The similar background setting is a general Chinese mythological set up like different realms, mortals/immortals, love trials, etc, which appears nearly in all Chinese fantasy film/drama/novels. The character development and story development are totally different! If there is any copy or plagiary issue, the users on Douban already made a big fuss of it like what happened to TMOPB. However, AOL is very well received in China on both TV and internet streaming sites. It is rated as the highest rated Chinese fantasy drama in the last 9 years. It is that good!
Neh, TMOPB is good but not that far better than this one. It is the first internationally so well known fantasy cdrama, the one came after it has a natural disadvantage. They both has pros and cons. TMOPB is all about Mark Chao, 10++ performance. But AOL has it stong points as well. At least two: 1. Character development. All characters in AOL is not single-sided characters, most of them has their development arcs, especially villains. In the end, we have complicated feelings for both good and bad characters. However in TMOPB, most characters are linear and single-sided, especially the two villain girls. 2. CGI. AOL has the best special effects in all fantasy cdramas till today. The ending war scene is mind blower. Of course, AOL is a later drama, CGI should be better, but still a very solid production. Other aspects like set design, costume design, chemistry between leads are similar good. Hence, the margin between this two drama should not be that big.
I found the story very similar to Eternal Love, aka Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms. So if you liked one, you will…
Well, I would say it is just fantasy background setting is similar, e.g the different realms, mortals and immortals, love trial and reincarnation, etc. But it is just a general set up for a lot of Chinese fantasy dramas/films/novels with mythological background. The real story itself, the characters of main leads, the story and character developments are all totally different.
Yes, there are really haters there. Now 31 ratings of 1. With the rating standard of kisskh, 8.6 is a totally underrating. So sad to see such a nice drama to be neglected.
Have you seen any western series? In any western series, the first one or two episodes create a tone for the rest…
From what you said, actually I feel fantasy background and slow pace or slow start is not the problem for you since you are fine with TMOPB. It looks like you are just not happy with the story and the setup of the female lead. I'm not here to convince you since the view to a story is a very subject thing. 1000 readers has 1000 Hamlet.
The following is just some of my thoughts over the story for all people who might come across this post: It is not the most innovative story for sure but what attracted me the most is that writers managed to weave everything together and push all characters to their logical ends. The setting of handicapping the female lead (ripped off her ability to love by her mom since birth) from the beginning is actually very refreshing for me. Two leads fallen into love. He thought they were in love. She responded with subconscious affection but not knowing it is actually love. The miss-matching brainwaves created a lot of funny moments in the early episodes. Then she killed him because she was manipulated by someone who is aware of her handicap. The great pain of killing her unselfawared lover broke her seal. I like the story and the female lead. She is not a physically strong lady, sometimes even a bit annoying but she has a very strong heart. She is a victim of all people who claimed to "love" her and did things for her good. After the greatest tragedy happened, she stroke out to look for truth and makeing-up solutions. She fought hard against her doomed fate and finally she won.She is not somebody who did nothing. She always worked hard on something. At the beginning she tried all her best to revive her past best girl friend. In the middle episodes she tried to save her lover and in the end she saved the world and herself. I like her very very much.
I think it might also me because there are night fans out there that doesn’t think the ending is too happy for…
Lol, the revenge from the Night. :-D Well, the character of Night is not my cup of tea but I really like the actor who portrays this character so well. So for the hard work of Luo Yun Xi, fans of Night, maybe you could raise your rating a bit higher? With a higher rating, maybe more people will see his work and his efforts. lol
How can you rate a drama from only watching 2 episodes out of 63. Yes, she acts like a child but that's because…
Not only because she is young, it is more because of the unfeeling pill she took since birth and then she was locked in that water mirror for years. Her mom and her flower anties tried their best to keep her from the real world. That’s why she behaved like a kid in the early episodes. Yes, this drama is all about character development. She will grow, learn to take responsibility, experience love and pain, then become mature.
This drama has nothing to do with TMOPB. The story is totally different, the character setting is totally different. The background about deity/demon, immortal/moral, love trial and reincarnation? It is the basic setup for all fantasy cdramas. These concepts dated back to the chinese mythology and folk stories. TMOPB is not the first cdrama to use this concept, it is just the first internationally known fantasy cdrama with this setup.
I love both dramas. For me, TMOPB is all about the acting of Mark Chao. He alone brought the whole drama one level up. The acting of rest is average good. AOL is more evenly good, plus nearly all major roles are played by actors and actresses at their middle 20s (TMOPB more 30s), they are impressively good for their age. The part that AOL beats TMOPB is the character development. All characters, no matter good or bad, are not single-layed portrayed. They are all characters with multiple sides. You will love them and then at moments you will hate them. And their characters evolved so much in the whole drama, the three lead characters are basically totally different people at the end of the drama yet very logical. The character development in TMOPB is really only focus on main leads, especially YeHua. Most of characters inside has no arc of development, especially the villains, the classic jealous girls. However in AOL all villains has their backstories, even the jealous girl role has her moment of softness, In the end, you hate them so much yet you still feel sorry for them.
I would say, by only watching two episodes, you really missed the best part of this drama. It is fun to watch the characters changed by all kinds of situations, no matter ended up to a good direction or a bad one.
I’m not so sure if it is the major reason here but definitely one of the reasons. Sometimes if the drama is more popular, more people will join the sub team, hence faster.
