Just because there was no wedding doesn't mean there was no romance. Lots of romance dramas don't feature a wedding at the end. LBY and CSS weren't even engaged in Part 1, and Part 2 was about their engagement, and how CSS fell hard for LBY after she realizes how well he treats her. The revenge is the other subplot but aside from that, I thought the politics were quite light compared to most historical dramas (The Long Ballad, Nirvana in Fire, and Who Rules the World, just to name a few). I'm not sure how anyone could have watched both parts and think Part 2 didn't have romance and that Part 1 had MORE romance.
There is actually quite a bit of romance, especially in part 2, so I don't think this is accurate. It's just a very slow burn but romance is a main plot point in part 2.
Just saw that WL is #1 and ZLS is #2 in the MDL monthly leaderboard (https://kisskh.at/stats/leaderboards/monthly) - glad they are getting the recognition and love they deserve!
I know some of you like AvenueX on YouTube for her reviews, but I can't disagree with her more on her take on…
I just went to look at the comments on the review (didn't watch it because I knew it would be annoying), and I'm glad to see most of the upvoted comments are disagreeing with her, which I think is atypical for most of her review videos.
She just single person with her subjective opinion, honestly speaking I didn't like any drama she praised or recommend…
That’s my issue with her. Like I get she’s just a reviewer with her own opinions but at least be consistent - she’ll easily excuse one drama for the same things she would criticize another drama for because her favorite actors are in it.
Well, compared to other dramas the romance is definitely lacking. I'm on ep. 37 now and so far it is still rather…
100%. Also, this is supposed to be a more serious historical drama with a high budget, and I can't think of a single similar historical drama that is all about the romance. We would not be seeing the character developments and rich relationships (romantic and otherwise) if this just went the fluffy romance route. If people want that, they can go watch My Sassy Princess (which I heard is basically all fluff and sounds exhausting tbh). As far as romance in a historical costume drama goes, this was top tier for me (I think #1 actually), and much better than ADOS, where the romance almost went from 0-100 overnight and left much to be desired for the second half of the drama.
well I also disagreed with her take on ADoS and LBFAD so I guess we have different tastes heh.
She really lost me when she gave ADOS such a high final rating after how it completely fell apart in the second half even though it started strong. She complained that the ML in LLTG was not that present at the beginning of LLTG (which follows the novel) yet had no issue with the ML in ADOS missing from several episodes in the last 3rd? Ok. I honestly think she just has a hate boner for ZLS and WL - she has criticized almost every performance they gave. I’m sorry but LYF is not a better actress than ZLS, especially given how much longer she has been in the industry.
I am done watching LLTG and in a way kind of feels empty now.... It seems that I have a separation anxiety...…
Unfortunately I don’t think we’ll get another drama of this caliber for a long time. I feel like it only happens every couple of years - for example Story of Minglan, Yanxi Palace, Nirvana in Fire, etc. Some of the other popular high budget dramas this year, I have enjoyed (WRTW and ADOS) but don’t think they come even close to the quality of LLTG.
Does Leo Wu have a wife or girlfriend? He never seems to do intimate scenes with actresses. Like he is great at…
He is still really young (he had just turned 22 when they wrapped filming) so I think we’ll be seeing more in future dramas. He’s going to be a modern romance/sports drama with Zhou Yutong so I’m hopeful.
