I was already prepared to support this based on ZZH alone and then to see PMY is the FL and now I’m on my knees. An actual ZZH comeback AND a Korean actress in a Chinese drama and it’s not being shelved for a decade??? Maybe the world can get better.
And they'll forever remain bromances for the people who don't go look up the novel. ...Now I feel kind of cheated…
It’s really not the same take though. Because these stories are actively suppressed by the government to eliminate the non-het romance. Anything remotely queer that makes it into the drama is because it slipped through censorship. In the het-romance dramas you mentioned, the romance is still officially there. The only censorship that is experienced in those dramas is regarding explicit content which isn’t allowed in any Chinese media anyway.
I think this should have said "Censored Romance" rather than Bromance tbh because there's literally nothing bromantic…
I agree. I take issue with the use of the term bromance on dramas that are censored romances. Bromance really should be specifically about friendship, not romance that is being disguised as friendship. I say this as someone who watches almost exclusively lgbtq dramas. Censored Romance or Censored BL are the better terms for all the listed dramas above.
I am a chronic optimist and search for the positive in everything. I hate dropping shows and will stick through just about anything. I despise this series and I hate that I ever watched as much as I did. I also hate myself for wanting to know how it ends and thus I keep finding myself reading the comments here each week.
I'm struggling not to watch the anime or read novel or manga so bad ..I wanna go into this freshly... please air
I did that with mdzs and I wish I had read the book first tbh. I liked the untamed but I didn’t love it until after I read the book. so I’m happy to have finished tgcf and now I’m even more interested in the series. I’m watching the anime too and it’s perfect so far.
On which website do you read this story? i want to give it a try!
I don’t read it online. I buy it in hard copy at the bookstore. It’s published in 8 volumes in English in the USA. 7 volunes are out now and the last one comes out in about a week.
all these characters have turned into miserable awful shadow versions of themselves. I actively hate Zeke now. Can someone please knock some sense into him??
First of all, this was worth the watch on. Saturday afternoon with nothing better to do. As a fan of OOO, it was also mandatory viewing and I enjoyed seeing all the boys in these characters. Unfortunately, this had way too much story to tell in such a short format. Most of the plot points in the second half as well as the ending felt rushed and fell flat because of it. If the runtime had been doubled to make 8 30-minute episodes, I think we could have come away with a better executed series. Nothing was gonna help the acting but I’d gladly watch sub-par acting from idols that are passionate about the concept like OOO is.
