To me, it was way below decent.
How can it be decent when everything which takes place between Ep 2 to Ep 15 became totally irrelevant in the end? When nothing was changed, and didn't affect the event in Ep 16?
It is a betrayal to the audience, wasting 14 hours of my life. Yes, LSM's performance is award winning, but the ending sort of negates all the achievement as all those events did not matter in the end.

For me, it ranks as one of the worst ending in K-dramas I have seen.
It really ruined the show for me, and wasted all the great performance of the casts.
I would hesitate to recommend this show to anyone.

A mage's responsibility is to kill all soul-shifters. It is the belief that soul-shifters would eventually go insane and start killing everyone.
Yul knew about this in Part 1, and he did nothing about Naksu. In the end, his worst nightmare did happen, Natsu went wild and killed a lot of people including Uk. Had Yul carried out his duty as a mage, this would not have happened.

Now that Naksu is resurrected, she could go wild again, as you know, Mudeok was also not a threat and had no power until the last moment. Yul wants to make sure that this tragedy would not happen again and fulfill his duty as a mage.

For me, this ranks among the worst ending in K-drama history.
Especially when compared with the great story and performance in Ep2 to 14. The ending just ruined it all, negating everything that happened in the previous 14 hours.

The sad part is the drama did not give hint or imply any of that.
We are all trying to explain the ridiculous plot but none is satisfactory.
If DJ has HW's memory, would going to the same accident scene, seeing HW's car and HW talking on the phone jolt back his memory?
He remembered EVERYTHING about HW, but conveniently "block" the memory about the accident, DJ, the audio recording.... everything? And then conveniently remember everything when waking up as HW?
It doesn't make sense at all.

But the problem is that the drama didn't touch any of that. The only thing it said was whatever happened will happen. We are all trying to make sense of a non-sensical story.
So did DJ really allow his grandpa to avoid the plane crash?
Did DJ change the time when HW's mother died?
All those clever decision based on HW's knowledge of the future - so nothing was changed with those knowledge? How could the original DJ have those knowledge?
Was Miracle created by the reborn DJ, or it was there originally by the original DJ? The drama did not touch any of that.
It would be much more convincing if they showed something in Ep 1, and HW found out that it was changed in Ep 16 after his reborn experience.

But as is, it looks like it was all fantasy, only a dream, and in the end nothing happened in Ep 2 to Ep 15 matters.

Did you finish watching the episode? He wants to kill Naksu, and commit suicide at the same time. This is not about his love for Naksu.

Actually, this drama totally ignores anything related to time travel. It just unfolds with no time travel related consequences.
It ends up more like a dream, a totally made up experience in HW’s head rather than real time travel. As nothing the reborn DJ did actually changed anything.

And there is no hint or evidence that anything in Ep 2 to 15 actually happened. So it was all a dream? Something HW made up in his head?
So in the end, everything in Ep 2 to 15 does not matter at all. A waste of 14 hours for all the audience.

I have not read and I don't care about the novel.
I only watched the drama, and I absolutely hate the ending.
Not that it is different from the novel, but it made the whole reborn experience, and Ep 2 to 16 completely irrelevant. You can watch Ep 1, then jump to Ep 16, and the event would be the same.

By comparison, Again My Life has a great ending. At least, it made sense.

This has nothing to do with the production itself. It's the writer's fault for the decision to change the ending.

Casting another actor won't help, when the whole Ep 2 to Ep 15 experience does not matter one bit for the events in Ep 16. In fact, there is no hint that any of that actually happened.

well, there is no hint that anything actually happened. I would have preferred that something has changed from Ep 1, for example, HW's mother's death date has changed etc. The only thing which has changed is HW's memory. Even HW himself wasn't sure if it was all a dream or not.

WTF ending, one of the worst in K-drama history.
