Title Us and Them Spoiler
I loved the movie but i just can't get why didn't she get back to him after he brought the house and apologized…
In my opinion I think it's because she didn't see the same love he had for her that he used to have. He loved her so much that he wanted to make her happy by providing her with a comfortable life, he felt like he was letting her down by living such a poor life, so he got lost in his obsession of making money to provide for her that he didn't realise that all she wanted was to be with him, just be together, be happy just because they are together. So even after he got the money, the house, whatever she couldn't accept him because he still failed to realise that she just wanted to be content by being together rather than it being because he can afford all the material things. Although they loved each other, he could never understand her.

(Though I do get where he's coming from though since he watched her go through all her Ex's because of her desire for security and a house.)

OMG, I keep seeing the photos of shoots and posters on my IG and finally decided to find the show on here. I love both of them so I'm so excited already can't wait. 2021 sounds so far away but it's actually only less than 3 months away I hope it'll be a nice early year drama

I literally just broke down during the scene where Mo Jun Jie and Li Zi Wei are drinking and I realised the moment…
The acting in this drama is exceptional, like they really brought their characters to life and I really just invested myself completely and felt hurt and happy and helpless and sad along with every moment

Title Someday or One Day Spoiler
I literally just broke down during the scene where Mo Jun Jie and Li Zi Wei are drinking and I realised the moment MJJ said "how many drinks will it take for us to be brothers again" and LZW replies with "I don't know" that this was going to be their last moments together before MJJ committed suicide. Like when I realised that I just started sobbing and I couldn't watch them laughing together it was devastating

god literally! This drama is okay so far, despite the several cliches I think it's too early to judge but like…
100% agree with you, it's definitely how they plan to get there that will make whether or not this drama is worth it. Woo Yeon hopefully will keep her stand, but if they make her go weak to his sweet words without actually developing his character, realise where he's wrong and mature from his past, then I think I'll be quite disappointed. I think Lee Soo has the potential to grow, it's just his situation is full of excuses for why he's acting the way he is and Woo Yeon deserves a stable guy, who will accept her feelings and will try to make her happy.

My one last worry is that they'll play the pity card. Like I stg if Woo Yeon finds out about his past and understands why he acted that way and all of a sudden is willing to excuse all that then again, I will be disappointed

So to sum up:Soo: you can't rely on others to take care of you so you need to put yourself first.Woo Yeon: okay…
god literally! This drama is okay so far, despite the several cliches I think it's too early to judge but like man, Lee Soo really needs major character development. The SLS will be strong but at the same time I don't think I'll enjoy so much of what's coming up knowing that she'll use the second lead kind of, like he seems nice I hope he doesn't get hurt by them.

I feel like they definitely could have made the ending smoother and add a little more fluffy scenes to balance out all the drama from the previous episodes, or even just could have done resolution in the second last and a final episode cleaning everything up and making us just happy. But all in all this was a beautiful drama and had me waiting for each episode daily, was just wonderful I love each of the characters dearly and will miss them all.

I haven't watched this a second time yet, but this is the one drama that keeps lingering in my heart. I have to say this drama has to have left the deepest impression on me out of all the dramas I have watched. I wish I could erase my memory and watch this drama over and over again for the first time.

Definitely worth the watch, it's not just about the romance. It's the parent and child bond, siblings, friendships…
glad to hear that, I hope you enjoy it as much as everyone else did :)

is the series worth a watch, folks??
Definitely worth the watch, it's not just about the romance. It's the parent and child bond, siblings, friendships from all different families. Even the supporting roles have a lot of depth to them in regards to their growth and family situations. I prefer family dramas over rom-coms because I feel as they hold more meaning and relativity, like it isn't just a fantasy. Though this drama has dramatic backstories all put into one web of people, it doesn't suffocate me with drama and rather shows how the characters get through it. The character development in this show is something I love to see

at first I shipped MY and ZQ but now I hope ZQ ends up with someone else but knowing how it will be I'm guessing…
Same I honestly didn't like MY with ZQ since the high school arc, and then when she did a 180 and started liking LX I was like are you serious? Did you even like him that much? Now after being basically rejected by both of them, I kinda just want for her to move on and find a partner that suits her and ZQ gets with someone else, but like you said, most likely going to be MY and ZQ.

Well, well, well... I must say that I am slightly surprised about ZQ feelings towards JJ. idk I was really just expecting his love to be purely familial love and I'm kinda disappointed because it would've been nice to have the brotherly love from ZQ and the romance from LX. Like it'll be hard for JJ to accept the fact that one of them likes her, so when she finds out about the other she's not going to be able to breathe lmaoo.

You put it perfectly. I wasn't surprised at all when JJ wanted to keep her distance from ZQ and LX. As she said…
Yes exactly, the boys clearly have no connections with their blood parents (besides Ling Ba) other than the fact that they are related by blood. SO their choice to go back to them really affected JJ because she realised she has no guarantee to keep them by her side as they could go off again back to their "real parents" anytime for the same reason.

About LXs feelings for JJ, I feel like he's liked her forever. I don't remember the episode but when they went to that cafe place in High School with Ming Yue they mentioned how they had a "wedding" as kids when JJ asked to be LX's dad's daughter and he knelt down and proposed to her LMAOO. It would've been cute as children and mentioning it as high schoolers was a bit of a joke but he definitely always had those feelings, it's just a matter of when he realised it. I mean would he really be asking JJ to act cute all the time for him, most "brothers" would be disgusted hahaha, I mean unless they're much much younger sisters like LX's half sister but they naturally have that cute air but it just isn't the same for LX when JJ is cute. ZQ is definitely the real brother, all his love for JJ is familial love, he would probably be the brother that would respond with "what the hell are you doing?" when JJ acts cute around him.

It's quite obvious who'll she'll end up with, the subtle differences between ZQ and LX in the way they treat her kinda tell, but I'm also really enjoying everyones opinions so really thank you for responding :)

ia with a lot of the points/character analyses that you made! re: LJJ, i feel like part of it is also that they…
I totally agree with what you said. We have pretty much the same view on LX, and there's still so much we haven't seen yet and hope to see his growth. For JJ I love seeing her independence in the recent episodes. LX and ZQ are slowly realising that she has become her own person and they can't baby her like they used to anymore. They are still the protective brothers they always were, but they're stepping back slowly and stay beside her in case she needs it.

I really do hope they discuss things as well. ZQ still struggles to open up when he finds out things about his birth parents, LX with his time in Singapore as well (is what he said about how he got his shoulder scar actually true or is he covering up for his mom, because we know what she's been like in the past). JJ has always been the cheerful one who tries to keep things joyful, since her temper has improved now though we can see she hides a lot of the things she finds hurtful behind her smile. So I really hope these three find a time to lay their hearts out on the table so they can really understand each other. Honestly the dads included, they all grew up with a sense of responsibility, for the boys since Li Ba is not their actual father but trust and love so dearly for everything he has done for them, they're scared of making him worry, especially as he gets older. for Ling Ba, the emotional connection isn't there rn between him LX since he's always been away for work so he's not really seen as reliable in LX's eyes. I know Li Ba has always gave major life lesson to ZQ but I wonder when LX and ZQ will begin to open up themselves without being pushed by Li Ba to open up.

I really love how this show interprets what a family is. They both reflect and challenge the concept of "Blood is thicker than water" because although the boys went to their blood families it was extremely reluctant and they were also pushed by their blood relatives telling them that it was the "right thing to do". I mean otherwise the boys have absolutely nothing to do with their blood relatives besides having the same genes. They say you can't choose who your family is, but in this they really did. To these characters family isn't based on biological relationships, it's about the people who have always had your back, the ones who will always give and never expect anything in return from you, the unconditional love, the people that make you feel truly at home. I think it really is just beautiful.

Title Go Ahead Spoiler
I'm just doing a character analysis to get my thoughts together, don't mind me: (if you care though do reply I'd love to hear from others)

For JJ other than her father she had no immediate relations when her mother (and unborn little brother) passed away. When the two brothers, LX and ZQ, came into her life they brightened up her world and became her entire world. They always promised to be there for each other, truly believing that they were a family before their blood. However, that fantasy was broken the moment they were separated due to the brothers blood ties. The realisation that they weren't actually related hit her and she was genuinely heart-broken about being abandoned. However, she grew up, moved on, and created a new world, just as her father said they would. The reason why she pushes them away when they try to reenter her world is because she doesn't want to become so dependent on them again for fear that they can abandon her any time. It is not that she doesn't love them, we all know she truly does, but her knowing that there is nothing like a blood tie guarantee that can keep them by her side, she does not want to get used to them being around her all the time. Over time she'll probably have other realisations of the strength of their bond that will bring them back together however these early stages of reintroducing themselves is very fragile for their relationship.

For LX he has always been very silent about his own feelings. He is the child that grew up too fast, that grew up in a second. He thinks he should be responsible, he should be mature, he should keep everything in check and so he carries the burdens on his shoulders without complaining how hard it is for him. His blood relatives blamed him for his own sisters death, he only stayed by his mother's side as he felt he owed them. After coming back he ignores everything from his Mum because he craves to be with the people that he loves. We all know that JJ isn't just a sister to him, but his lack of the ability to open up makes communication hard which harms his ability to bond with her but also others like the fathers and ZQ. The fact that he has grown up too fast shows that he hasn't grown up at all. We can see the changes in ZQ and JJ, but doesn't LX seem somewhat the same? I feel like we definitely have yet to see his proper character development and I look forward to seeing how he will change.

Then there is ZQ. He truly sees JJ and her father as his actual family, obviously why he gave into his blood to take some burden off of JJ's father. He is a sensitive guy despite his easy-going, carefree attitude. He takes things to heart and every moment with JJ and her dad has made him so grateful for them being in his life. In my opinion his fault is the idea of owing JJ and her father. That itself creates a distance and a barrier, he's doing it himself. He's so conscious that they're not actually family that he works so hard just to be worthy of being part of it. A must have trait to say that they are a proper family is the unconditional love. He shouldn't feel like he owes them anything if he believed they were truly family, he should realise that everything comes out of love and anything he does back should be out of love and not because he owes them. I'm not saying he doesn't do things out of love and purely because he owes them, he definitely does it out love, but his mindset of being indebted to them does not help in feeling like a proper family. I might be looking too much into the "we owe them" lines, like maybe it's not that important but I just feel like that concept is already an obstacle in being a real family. ZQ's relationship with JJ's dad though is just beautiful, I feel like JJ's dad's talks with ZQ are the stepping stones in making him realise that he always has been part of the family and not an outsider living off of them. We still have the plot of finding his mother that has yet to go forward so I look forward to seeing how he reacts and deals with it.

anyways I might be making meaning out of nothing or have missed some stuff but I'd love to hear more opinions, if you guys have any ideas feel free to reply :)

On The Story of Ming Lan Aug 15, 2020
This drama was just beautiful and completely worth its length. When they say it's her story, they really show everything from her childhood to the life where they end off, and completely well-written at that. The most satisfying pair I've seen, both strong, intelligent, well-spoken and just the best leads I could ask for. There are so many characters to remember in here but you get so invested it's so easy to remember them all, I must say though that the arcs after Minglan's marriage is the best. If you're struggling to decide because of it's length I say give it a go and take your time, the beginning may be a little low but it gets SO much better the further you get in and doesn't disappoint.
