The drama has a great directing, writing, acting and soundtrack but I agree with you I cannot even give a score to this because I read it is based in a real story

When I saw there was a spin-off with the original cast I didn’t hesitate to pay one month of Netflix just to watch it and I’m glad I did because I was happy to see them!!!! About this spinoff it seems they didn’t really planned to do an incredible drama as yanxi palace because of the plot and the opening but the aesthetic was on point, the directing was nice, I liked the acting and I was happy to see my fav characters being happy. Yinglou my gurl still clever and living a relaxing life with the king ❤️and I appreciate that Netflix did an spinoff of yanxi palace so maybe many people can discover that gem and watch it

As for me the only drama I can remember right now that was frustrating is “brain” but I still love it at the same time

when I started watching this drama I didn't know Leo was the main lead and I was reallly happy to see him as my first historical cdrama was NIF, and I definitely became a fan of him,I will watch all his dramas! as for The long Ballad I liked the characters, the costumes, soundtrack, directing and I liked the writing.
I give this 9/10

I felt this drama only had like 10 episodes but it is not because it was so good that time passed by, it is because almost in half of the episodes nothing happened and maybe the reason why is because episodes came out for 9 days or they didn't have much budget. Anyway, I liked the characters and the actors did a great job, the only problem of this is the writing but the directing and soudtrack was satisfying. I give this 7.5/10

Yes I understand your point of view that is why I said emperor is the one to be blame because he didn't let them marry, I also believe Fuheng and Yingluo would have been happy if they got married, my point was that people hate emperor when every single character had at least one moment when they acted with evil intentions or used other people. For example with Fuheng, what I meant he married Er Qing for Yingluo (it doesn't make Er Qing the victim but he also used her) and said he would forget Yingluo but 1 year passed since they were married but he didn't consumed their marriage which is also not a good move from his part. About emperor not showing as a caring husband, he really loved empress, for example, but he couldn't show it because he was afraid and he always said the emperor shouldn't love anything else but his people.
And your comment about Yingluo and emperor, I respect your opinion because the writers never really emphasize what were the feelings she felt for him, I came to the conclusion I wrote because there were many hints, when she told him a woman only gives birth the children of the man they love, or when she was feeling jealous (Mingyu who knew her too well noticed it too), I also see it from a realistic point where you can actually get over your first love and love other people too, remember Yingluo was describe as someone who always sees in front and doesn't look back, and I also want to believe she loved emperor because I wouldn't like to imagine her being sad longing for one man who is already dead. I'm sorry for my long comment, I respect your opinion is just that I feel you didn't understand what I meant and I don't write this with the intention to change your opinion hahah because I can also see why you said that!!

I don’t why but I feel this drama took me a really long time to finish it (even if it was only 2 weeks) but I was able to complete watching all episodes and I’m really glad I gave this an opportunity! I believe what makes this drama as a good try is because of the characters and the actors, the characters are well written and the actors did an amazing job to interpret their role even if I they were villains, I think I actually didn’t hate them because they were so amazing. I loved the intro, the soundtrack, the aesthetic is 10000/10, the acting and directing is really nice and I repeat again the characters were brilliant even the bad characters or the smallest one did an outstanding job. HERE COMES SPOILERS: I personally loved the most the first Empress, she is just such a good characters and I feel she deserved so much happiness :c I missed her after she was gone.
I would also like to comment something that I kept reading on comments while watching the episodes, the first thing is that people hate the emperor and to be honest I don’t why(?) maybe because he didn’t let Fuheng and Yingluo marry? I think the emperor was charming and the actor did a great job, sometimes I couldn’t help but think that the hate comes because he is not handsome, I also feel they keep blaming it on him which is true it was his fault hahaha but if we see this drama no one is a good person except for the empress, even Fuheng had his faults by marrying Er Qing and not being the husband he should have been when he got married, Yingluo and Nara empress are actually almost the same? For their revenge they planned things against their enemies and killed people and almost every character had their fault but people still hated more emperor even though Yingluo made the decision to marry him by her own will… Thank God she was able to develop feelings for the emperor because I wouldn’t like to think she was unhappy for the rest of her life because she still loved Fuheng, which I don’t agree, I think she did care for him and she was grateful that is why she said yes at his last request but she did love emperor at the end and we were hinted many times, for example, empress told Yingluo the way she showed her love was with actions and Yingluo said if she loved someone she would like to make that person know her love and the things she do for him and then we see at the end that yingluo said to Nara that she shouldn’t express with words her love and then she told emperor that she will show her love with actions for the rest of their life but don’t get me wrong I also feel upset they didn’t give Fuheng the end he deserved because he was a right person with a good heart. I finish my long comment giving this drama 9/10

And I appreciate you did a list with top rated historical dramas because I’ve been searching for a good one and I hope people give a chance to historical dramas because they are amazing! I remember I tried to watch a few years ago Ice fantasy but I didn’t like it so I never gave a try to other dramas however I watched Nirvana in fire and I fell in love with the plot, the acting, soundtrack, everything! So far I have watched Nirvana in fire, Joy of life and Story of Minglan and I loved those three!!! I think what I love the most is that we have main leads that are really smart and women are so strong and intelligent so I will try to watch one of those you mention in the article! As for the modern cdramas I actually don’t have so many that I actually liked, but unrequited love is one of my fav modern cdrama, as I said it before, I think I just love smart leads!

I really enjoyed this drama! Never thought I would be able to finish 73 episodes in a few days and never got bored. Some say the first episodes are boring but I enjoyed every episode and Minglan was amazing, she is so powerful and intelligent! And I also loved how the main leads supported each other; I also need to comment those amazing support characters and how the ending is not what I expected. I give this 9.5/10

I finally finished this today! I have to say after episode 25 it got better but I feel the first half was dragging, it took so long for the story to develop and to see ML in action and the reason why I didn't drop it was because comments kept saying it is really good and I agree but you have to watch half of the drama to get to the exciting moments. What I liked about this drama is the male lead and his group of supporters, I liked the characters, it was well directed and there were moments I laughed. I also would like to add how they make the bad guys turn into good at the end, I saw a comment saying this drama portraits how there were some circumstances that made them as the way they are, it was something unique that I need to attribute to this drama.
I give this 8.5/10 because I can't believe I have to wait like 3 years to finish this series and because it didn't get me hooked up at the beginning but I would recommend this only to those who have patience to wait for the other seasons!!

I just finished this drama of 54 episodes and I have a lot to say... First I would like to mention I didn't expect anything at the beginning, the first scenes we got are not really my style, I didnt understand anything in the first episode and it took me a few episodes to understand that Mei Chang Su, Lin Shu and Su Zhe are the same person! however as the story develops and I try to follow everything by reading the recaps of problematic of the unproblematic blog (by the way I'm so thankful to them) I was able to understand the relationships between the characters and learn their names (yes it was very hard for me to identify them at the beginning ;;), I learnt what was the plot about and I was able to like this drama and then love it! I really loved this drama because of the writing, when I thought everything was resolved and it was left like 20 episodes I got really worried but I was surprise because the writers gave us more, I loved the characters especially the good band from the main leads to the support actors they were well written and they offered something to the drama, I also loved how the women were so intelligent, independent and strong, where we could see them having roles that we are used to be see male actors and not females (it is the writer female? writers showed strong, beautiful and elegant women in this drama I LOVE IT!), I loved the soundtrack and the way this was filmed, sometimes it felt I was watching a movie (I have some complains about the transition from once scene to the other) but the rest was brilliant ESPECIALLY the actions scenes, they looked so real and they seemed to have practice a lot before filming each scene (I have another complain and this is the main reason I gave this 9.5/10 and not 10, I suffered watching the horses there is no way a poor horse wasn't hurt filming those scenes) and I loved our main lead and his relationship with all the other cast, the good guys loved him (we loved him) the bad guys hated him but it was so amazing to see how Master Su was able to control everyone around him! BRILLIANT! There were many other things which made me like this drama that is why I want people to give it an opportunity!

I actually enjoyed this drama a lot!! The acting of both leads is great, the writing is good (to be honest I liked the last episode after all the rush) and I liked the characters. I watched this drama in 3 days because I couldn’t stop.
