China thanks you for supporting its "dictatorship" by tuning in to Cdramas & driving interest in Cdramas by posting in Cdrama-related online platforms.

Since you're an "environmentalist," maybe you know that China is the global leader in alternative energy (solar, wind, nuclear, etc.) sources, EV technology. & experimentsl fusion, among other things. Whereas the Western industrial
powers (such as the US, which happens to be a dictatorship founded on the the stolen lands & genocide of Native Americans, not to mention the kidnapping & enslavement of Africans to work
these lands) raise tariffs against Chinese alternative energy utilities & technologies that could ameliorate the climate crisis (which were created by the Western powers in the first place starting in Victorian England).

The US & Western European countries (especially the UK) used & abused their power & resources generated by the industrial revolution to colonize Asia, Africa, the Middle East, & Latin America. Basically, the entire global south. The US & Europe export its manufacturing to the global south, so that they can (partially) wipe their hands clean of worsening the climate crisis. But they are the worst offenders. Aside from the fact that they limit imports of Chinese-made alternative energy options (thereby putting self-interest above global welfare), on a per capita basis, they rely more on fossil fuels than countries in the rest of the world. The US is by far the worst.

Oh, one last thing! I was just on the reddit forum for C-drama recommendations. Someone sought recommendations for a certain type & genre of C-drama, so I offered one that I particularly liked.

Their response? "Is it good?"

I was going to make some snarky remark like: "No, I go out of my way to recommend awful dramas because I enjoy screwing people over."

But what's the point? The sarcasm's probably going to fly over their head anyway.

Apparently, some reviewers are time-travelers.

It's a myth that snowflakes are unique. Quite the contrary, they are all alike & they all think alike.

You're more curious than the typical international viewer. Most are primarily concerned with two things: does this C-drama have either 1) a happy ending or 2) any romance? Just check out the MDL comments section for this or any other C-drama.

It'd take only one or two seconds to read the synopsis that gives the original (native) title in its written Chinese. The synopsis also translates the title, which is "Go to the Mountains & Sea."

Would an international fan make heads or tails about what this title means? Probably not. Would she/he/they even care what it means? Again, probably not. Would they do due diligence & their own research? Even less likely.

If MDLers, who are probably among the more informed & experienced C-drama viewers can't even bother to take a moment to look at the synopsis, would average international audiences go out of their way to figure out what the original title means?

Heck, JofL is wuxia, yet MDLers still keep asking about romance (even though there is no tag for "romance").

I'm not sure to whom or what you're referring when you say "but why not try to explain it then?" If you mean me, why should I? Just look up the synopsis or do a quick Google search. If you mean the Chinese company that produced this drama, well, it's an entertainment company, not an educational service.

I doubt Hollywood explains anything to their Chinese audience (& China is their biggest foreign market).

Why do (American) English speakers expect non (native) English speakers to explain things to them in their language & on their terms, when they rarely take the time & effort to learn any 2nd language themselves?

My goodness, aside from the fact that your highest rated dramas are mostly Thai BL dramas, among two of your most highly rated are Cutie Pie I & II. (Apparently, Cutie Pie is such a cinematic masterpiece that the Thai entertainment industry felt compelled to make a sequel! Are you on the waiting list for Part 3, by any chance?)

"Is it a happy/sad ending?" is one of the other two I was thinking about.

I wonder if it ever occurs to the people asking this question that "happy" & "sad" are subjective as well as relative terms. That so-call "open" endings are distinctly possible.

Observe that rarely, if ever, does any MDLer ask whether the ending is logical (or not). This silence (not to mention indifference) speaks volumes, so to speak (pun intended).

Your MDL screenname suggests that you can't even be remotely neutral & objective in your stance. Your watchlist of Thai BL dramas only confirms your inherent (possibly subconscious or even unconscious) bias.

The Chinese government couldn't hold a candle to the sexually erotic Thai BL dramas when it comes to dehumanizing gay men by objectifying & "Orientalizing" (exoticizing) them even if it tried.

How dare China cancel BL entertainment content? I know no Chinese except for a couple of words & phrases that I teased out from watching C-dramas. I've never actually step foot in China, but most of the C-dramas I watch take place in China, so that's kind of the same thing, isn't it?

Chinese government censorship couldn't hold a candle to the culture-canceling woke agenda.

Basically the modus operandi of these brainwashed "woke-a$$e$ is: be tolerant, except for things you don't agree with, in which case, intolerance is perfectly fine.

If they spent less time regurgitating their indoctrinated nonsense & canceling anyone who doesn't buy their propaganda and more time actually practicing the open-mindedness they preach, the world would be a much better (or at least less annoying & insufferable) place.
