Whaaaat the fat? This is the new kdrama catch phrase of the year. He just cracks me up so much. Their humor both…
WHAT THE will be universal. It is another #Gwenchana Gwenchana. This can be used for any situation in our lives I feel.
What the Homework! - or work, depends What the Stupid! - for people or situations that warrant it What the Wait! - for the time we have to wait for the next episode What the Suspense! - when the makers give us cliffhangers and epilogues like in Ep 8 What the FAT! - personal motivation mantra/fight scream, next time anyone feels lazy to exercise.
The uses are endless, and What the Fan we have all become πͺπΌπͺπΌπͺπΌ
and yes - I think in recent times, LJY is the most versatile actor I have seen. Makes it even better to know that he is an idol-turned-actor. I just love that he is getting the recognition he deserves and hoping it also results in more projects/main roles and awards in future. 2025 first half literally belonged to him and I hope the rest does too. Maybe it is deliberate too - given military enlistment is coming soon, so I hope to see loads of him before there is a break - just don't want the projects to end anytime soon, he is too good of an artist.
I could watch an easy 16 episodes of this kdrama. It's too funny. Do Hyeon's grimace is 10/10. I hope we'll be…
I really want to know what is their beef - Director Do and Lee Roy's ? Why are they not seeing eye-to-eye? I guess would have to do with Do Hyeon's past - and am assuming maybe even Kang Sol, since she seems to be a common factor. Excited to see how the next 4 episodes roll out.
i absolutely love the fact kang sol and miran became friends and that kang sol is a girls girl !!
For now - yes, but then we know how the ex-lover formula works in K-dramas. So I hope it ends well and is an overall happy note and I don't have to scream along with Director Do "WHAT THE EX-GIRLFRIEND!"
OMG - I have seen the actor in so many shows, and 68 years only is really shocking and sudden. May he rest in peace and I hope his loved ones find the strength to overcome this difficult situation.
I know it may seem like mere words, but even if they are on the other side of the screen and there is no personal connection - given we enjoy drama/movies so much, that the characters/actors in it seem real/relatable. Therefore hearing such news is never easy.
For him I will especially remember - 49 Days, Childe, Legend of the Blue Sea, Juvenile Justice as some of the works where I recall him most fondly π
Some Questions as I watch this drama - and a long winded post, so bear with me:
(1) Given this drama airs daily, this would end by June 15? (2) I am at Ep 8 - any romance we will get to see? And if it is good or just done for the sake of it? (3) The time period that this drama is talking about - is it real or fictional? If anyone can share more details or let me know some keywords I can search on.
In my almost a decade long time of watching Asian dramas, C-dramas have always taken a backseat. After Reset and a few CZY (modern) dramas - this is my re-attempt to get invested in C-dramas. I am enjoying the show so far and hopefully this comment doesn't jinx it.
In any case I want to set my watching pace, expectation right hence asking Point 1 & 2, and 3 is for my own curiousity/general awareness.
I have been following K-dramas since long, so I deep-dived and understood the history of the land for real. Want to do the same for C-dramas, should it excite me further to watch more dramas. I have read about the Republican Era and it was interesting along with the dramas I have seen. Historical Dramas I have come across were mostly fantasy (?) - wuxia and Xianxia (?) and the concept did not work for me. This drama - Legend of Zang Hai also has "fantasy" tag and elements - but so far, there have been no unbelievable flying men fights - so am good and liking it so far.
Anyways - I will end my long post here - in case anyone is still reading this, please let me know on the above 3 points. I find MDL as the best resource for such questions, so please help out this (almost) new historical C-drama newbie - as I want to broaden my watching realm, Thanks! π
They have no connection at all. You will not find anything at all by watching other dramas. The only they took…
Yes, as soon as I got the answers - I started the drama today. Already on Ep 5 - given it is a working day, I am unable to binge it at the speed I like. But that's okay - I will pace it out as it is an airing drama. But I am really liking the story, characters and direction of this drama.
I do not watch much C-dramas, and usually give up early on because of multiple reasons but so far this has been good and I hope to finish it.
Oh yes, most voices you hear in c-dramas don't belong to the actual actors! Those are usually voice actors. The…
This is so detailed and informative - thank you so much for explaining it to me. I have always wondered that why did the lip-sync seemed a bit off. Not for all but you are right I have observed this mainly in historical dramas that I attempted to watch. In fact, maybe this was one of the reasons, that I have not been able to get into C-dramas like I hoard K and J-dramas. Like my eyes just went there and noticed, what could have simply been ignored - but just got added to the whole list of flying people and fight scenes.
But things have changed - I am finally watching: Legend of Zang Hai, so far its good (4-5 eps). Hopefully now that I know what is happening in the background as you explained I will keep a tolerant mindset and fully immerse in world of C-dramas, it is long time due.
Again many thanks for explaining - I have to watch MLC - especially as I had been looking to get into Cheng Yi's works.
12 animals reminded me of 12 signs of Chinese Zodiac Animals = Fruits Basket. What the Co-relation! π π π Anyways with such a strong cast am excited for this!!
Sorry - I did not understand you. Are you looking for dramas with hot kisses? π or you mean the drama "First…
Oh I mean in comparison - like with usual cardboard/fish kisses that we have in Asian dramas, theirs was more action and hence hot kiss even if it is was one. Also - when this drama was airing and that kiss came out - everyone was going crazy about it on social media.
But I found the main lead's chemistry lacking inspite of that and hence I wrote it as a negative point that "Lead Pair Chemistry was Lacking (yes, even with all the hot kisses)"
This drama reminds me so much about Boys over Flowers - F4 Boys. There is a rich guy/poor girl, another guy yearning for the senior, and another matching with the best friend and the fourth being overall goofy π₯Ή
No comedy scenes. For me the pacing was expected for a tvn and itβs 70ish minutes long. They do show their younger…
Great, I will take a break - have been watching too many airing dramas b2b. Till that time more episodes will air for this one and then I can watch many at one go to avoid any kind of slow-pace
I'm on ep7 but I think the drama getting draggy with the dog storyline..I'm have to skip story about dog...And…
There is another animal/pet - Hae Sook's cat, Sonya. Which means other pets are also there, but they have focused more on dogs and cat. But yes, initially I loved the comedy and then the emotional aspect that pet/pet parents had but yes, it became draggy.
In fact a lot of points in the drama have been great when done initially - but then used again and again, and it became a little draggy. Unfortunate for a drama with such a great start and middle part.
I mean you might have already guessed why the chemistry is fire of Hae-Sook and Pastor, the bickering and the time they spend together cooking and eating makes it obvious. But yeah watch more episodes and it will reveal why.
(2) Okay - that is good to know that the chemistry is good. At the point where I am it seems to be just starting out.
(3) Okay...
Thanks for answering and Happy Drama Watching! Looking forward to discuss more, as we progress in this drama!

It had a great start - did not live up to it.
