This exactly, honestly. I think that's why people are hating on Minwoo. He hits home because there's always someone with an advantage, I wonder where this will lead too
On Extraordinary Attorney Woo Jul 21, 2022
I know y'all hate Minwoo (rightfully) but he seems to be the most realistic character so far the rest as sad as it sounds, seems like a fairy-tale. Looking forward to how he'll come around and maybe he's the one with growth and development. We shall see. He seems interesting

Tbvh I like her dynamic with Suyeon more than with Junho. It's so rainbow and sunshine, he's the perfect dreamy guy only revolving around her, always showing up when she needs him. Whilst Suyeon sets her straight, doesn’t sugarcoat around her.

Yeah same. It's kinda strange, people hate Mary Sue's but somehow with MLs if he has no flaws, it's okay. I'll be honest i rather have a character make mistakes and not always saying/doing the right thing as it leaves room for growth. If he's perfect by default, there's nothing to work with.

Breath of fresh air? Not at all, bland MLs is all we've been served the past few years, some ppl like me are just…
I see where you are getting but people are just sharing what they'd like to see as the show progresses. It's kinda a worry of mine because he has the potential to be an interesting character not just a nice guy shell. There's been a lot of MLs like him that were just nice and perfect malewives nothing more. Run-On was one that I recently watched and dropped due to it. Producing good compelling characters should matter.

As for the standard, I can't agree due to my own experience. I think accepting that people are layered, we all have our burdens and flaws, should be the standards. The perfect one doesn't exist, they're not always going to be happy, neither do everything right just because they love you. It's what makes us indiviual, human, there's not a day where you don't grown, learn and make mistakes or mess up.

Well that's just my view as I've grown older, I stopped believing in prince charming and the ones who were, weren't really goals in my eyes. Since you don't even have anything to argue about.

Either way we'll see what happens, a lot of people seem to love just the way he is

That's fair enough, I just explained what some people would like to see. Him being a layered character not just a puppy

I miss the time where Male Leads had depth flaws and character development how do you expect a perfect person…
He's perfect, him not defending her (not sure why ppl are hung up on that) doesn't take that away. Neither is that a flaw. So far he did everything right and isn't his own character rather someone who lifts her upor revolves around her. There's nothing wrong with nice guys but even they aren't alway nice to their spouses.

It seems we are sharing unpopular opinions, ppl seem to love perfect characters these days and think that automatically makes them good characters. So far he only revolves around her and isn't a character on his own.

I think we can argue until the cows come home but "bland" like "beauty" is really in the eyes of the beholder.…
For me it's the opposite, these perfect guys just aren't believable to me as much as they were when I was young. I dreamed of prince charming till I met some. They weren't good boyfriends in real life from my own experience and the longer it kept going the darker it went. I'd rather see them having flaws from the beginning on, imperfections, say dumb stuff, not always doing everything right for the female lead, having their own personalities
than revolving around her, messing up, having depth. Relationships and humans aren't rainbows and sunshines. We mess up frequently but we learn (or not) and work on them. I still make mistakes despite my age

After watching poorly written male leads in the past (do yall like misogynistic male leads??? They aren't complex…
Breath of fresh air? Not at all, bland MLs is all we've been served the past few years, some ppl like me are just hoping there's more to him and some depth. That's not a bad thing. Take Eve and Whyher for example both romances were a letdown bc the MLs were bland, they focused on maked the FLs strong whilst them, bland puppies that follow around with no individuality or personality (eve especially was disappointing since it could've served toxic enemies to lovers). And can't speak for anyone, been watching Kdrama since 2010 (yes some weren't it) I prefer characters who aren't perfect, grow by making mistakes, have flaws and depth, that's what makes them good characters in my eyes.

And just because he's nice doesn't automatically make him a good ML, so far he only revolves around her and isn't a character on his own. It needs something more, well that's just my opinion.

If you watch Anime, Shonen are the best examples from different pov which are often criticised for their lack of development of female characters and the female leads being "mary sues".

You've been missing for years? I mean that's all we've been served for years now. What dramas are you watching?…
I genuinely did not see one flaw so far, I think that's why people are hoping there's more to him than just *nice* like the depth you're giving him

No it certainly doesn't one of my fave anime characters is Tohru Honda, she's a beautiful, kind hearted girl and no she isn't bland. What makes a character bland is the lack of depth, flaws or growth, even the kindest soul makes mistakes. If they lack all of that, are just picture perfect, doing everything right, revolving only around the female lead and having no other emotions than "happy" they're bland.

Imma be honest I preferred those MLs over what we're getting nowadays bc they at least had personalities, different emotions, had flaws and character development. It's like character development is nonexistent nowadays and if a character is perfect then there's no room for it.

You should if you are genuinely looking for Nice Male Leads which have been the trend for years now. It's kinda weird you say you are missing them. I'm kinda dropping out of Kdrama bc I miss MLs with flaws, growth, character development and personality other than "nice". Some who don't always do the right thing. Camilla had a nice ML too and I think the one from business proposal too but I dropped that so I don't quite remember.

You've been missing for years? I mean that's all we've been served for years now. What dramas are you watching? Genuinely asking bc I'd tune in. Home Cha Cha, Run On, WhyHer, Forecasting Love and Weather and so on, there wasn't one where he wasn't either picture perfect or bland with no growth or flaws.

Where did I say that? He's too perfect, it means there's no way for him to grow

I'm convinced most people who call him the standard would either get bored of him in real life or not give him the day. He has 1 expression so far, always happy and no other emotions. Seems like the guy who let's you decide everything and says "i like what u like" all the time. Idk might be a me problem or bc I dated someone like him and it was uncomfortable bc I'm not perfect.
