Sky castle had some of the best quotes ever - so much so I'm thinking about rewatching everything another time, just to write down all them good life quotes
This drama was beautiful and engaging from start to finish. Realism at its best. It is even better after a second…
Wow great comment! You encapsulated my exact feelings. I totally agree! Just finished binge-watching it and saw your comment. This show gave me so many feelings - feelings of disgust, love and prosperity for the actors. His age was absolutely necessary for the plot line, otherwise it would have been a "normal" nuna-drama where they could have been together in the end. I especially love how Iko's and Wako's character developed simultaneously as the story continued. Truly a master piece. The power balance made me uneasy sometimes, though. But it's all about the feelings. We shouldn't be okay with a 15 year old and a 32 year old
C-dramas, especially historical, often make the FL or ML forget about what have happened the first 30 episodes, and then I have to watch them learn to love each other again??!!! No thanks
Totally relatable article! At some point of time i felt like dropping the drama meant betraying kdrama world but…
It's fun how you mention "betraying the kdrama world" - that is another thing we could discuss for hours! I recently got a reply on one of my comments on an article where the person said I wasn't a REAL c-drama fan if I didn't complete the drama. If a drama isn't entertaining, why should I then complete it for the sake of other people? LOL Crazy fans!
yeah, the "spoiler" is true. They rarely ever improve. If a drama is 16 episodes long, but I need to watch 6 episodes…
The keyword is also "get better". That also means that you wasn't satisfied with it from the beginning ;) I totally agree with the both of you. Move on to the next drama that can be absolutely great from the beginning!
I am the same, once upon a time I couldn't drop a drama, now, I've become a drop drama person. Only a few can…
It definitely has something to do with being older and more "experienced" in the Asian drama world. You know what to expect, what typical plot twists to look out for, actors and actresses and the character setup. Nowadays I rarely find a Chinese or Korean drama (I mostly watch from those countries) that gives me a new perspective or twist. I still watch ongoing dramas even though they share similar stories as previous dramas, but I've now started to mix in some J-dramas and sometimes even Lakorns (although this is rare). This keeps it fresh, and I can have a "rest" while still watching dramas ;)
I'm a sucker for Chinese dramas, and they are usually 40/50+ episodes. So instead of getting addicted to dropping, I would instead find myself skipping A LOT. At the same time, I'm also addicted to binge watching... The worst drama I ever watched, or rather COMPLETED, was An Oriental Odyssey. It is 50 episodes of typical cliches and pure hell to watch. The production isn't worth talking about. I watched all of the episodes in a couple of days, and I was completely physically and mentally ruined. I had skipped at least 20 min in each episode, but I had to complete it. It felt like it would have been a waste of time if I HADN'T FINISHED it.
After this, I got better at dropping dramas, even after just a few episodes. I'm proud of that. Because those extra hours spend on COMPLETING that drama really did waste my time; not the other way around. Today I simply wouldn't have watched it and it would easily have been dropped.
Am I the only person who is angry at the female lead after this episode? She left DO without telling him why and…
I thought that she broke up with him because she knew he wouldn't be ready for a child; he was immature and he didn't have a job to support them. She simply didn't trust him to get his shit together. (they mention trust A LOT) Yes, she was selfish in that decision, but she did officially brake up with him. She didn't just disappear.
Sorry, I don't mean to be rude or anything, only my 2cents here, but to not be able to finish The Untamed because…
I watched 30 episodes; so more than half of the drama. That's enough for me to talk about pace, storyline and production. If I had only watched a few episodes, I wouldn't even have made the initial comment.

It wasn't only because of that haha. There were several factors that made me stop: the storyline, pace and style of the production. The cast is indeed talented, but if the storyline doesn't appeal to me, then I won't continue watching it - no matter if the actors are capable or not. Everyone has different opinions and preferences. Didn't want to offend anyone at all. I see why it is a loveable drama; it's just not my cup of tea.
So yes it sounds like a bag of BS, if it was only for that.
I wasn't able to finish the Untamed... but I still resonate with your article! That's maybe why I stopped watching it; the gigantic focus on the characters instead of the storyline. I'm more interested in a storyline than just watching hot dudes developing (yes, I still love tha cast!). Overall, great article with a fresh perspective on Chinese Dramaland; great job!
