Ugghhhhh!! I am loving this drama so much!! Currently waiting for it to end so I can binge. I got up to episode…
Hi name sister! So happy that you love it as much as I do! Understandable that you want to binge-watch then later part. I, myself, weren’t able to do that. I’ve been watching simultaneously as the episode since where released. But I can guarantee that it’s still fabulous to watch, even after the 27 episodes.
This right here, all the feels:"My favourite is unquestionably Dong Fang Shi and his many expressions. Sometimes…
Yes, I must admit that I'm deeply in love with that character! He is so interesting, cute and complex!
I'm also glad that I love it as much as you do! :D
I'm also watching it through Viki and the comments are just the best! It feels as if you actually watch it with a ton of people. And yes, this should be nominated and get awards! It's just so amazing!
The drama was going really good at first until they started to separate for a while and many times in the drama…
Yes, there is a middle part where that happens. But I think it's necessary to separate them, for the plot to go forward. I also guess they have given the second male lead a lot of screen time in the middle, since he is a complex anti-hero and has an a-bit-out-of-the-ordinary role, compared to BinBin's typical prince-hero role. What makes BinBin's role shine, is that he hasn't got any unnecessary scenes, which many leads in other C-dramas has. This can result in a draggy show. I don't know how far you've watched, but in the later episodes, BinBin and Ariel get's more screen time together. I hope you will change our mind during the ending episods, otherwise, thank you for your honest opinion.
Thanks so much for writing this! Caught up to this drama last week (am a fan of Ariel Lin hence i will definitely…
Hi Shingekkie! On the contrary to you, I was actually not familiar with Ariel Lin, prior to watching this show. Thus, I will most likely watch LanLingWang as you recommended!
But when it comes to Binbin/Vin Zhang, I've watched nearly everything he's acted in. Both when he had a minor role, became second lead male (which he is in many dramas) and now when he became first male lead. During these last years he's been constantly somehow paired up with Dilraba Dilmurat, an aspiring young actress equally as talented in her own way, but I've noticed a change in BinBin as an actor in this drama. He lights up side by side Ariel Lin, which is quite refreshing to me. Also, now he actually has the potential to end up with the girl. He is usually the one who gets left behind, sadly. If you want to watch other great dramas with him, you should watch:
--> Ten Miles Of Peach Blossoms (Also known as Eternal Love) https://kisskh.at/16547-eternal-love I believe I speak for the majority of the C-drama watchers when I say, this is a classic you MUST watch. I personally find it awesome, with an exciting plot and some of the best actors out there. Even though BinBin is not the lead actor.
--> The King's woman https://kisskh.at/22292-the-kings-woman Some might find this a bit repulsive to watch, because BinBin is the emperor with a possessive behaviour. You have to decide whether you like it or not. It's a good drama, where you can analyse their behaviour through psychology.
The only thing that makes me mad is if there is stupid misunderstandings. So that's what I want to know because…
I also hate misunderstandings for the most part. However, misunderstandings are often the thing that carries the story forward - when it's used moderately in a drama. In my opinion, however, this is one the C-dramas that I've watched, which has the least amount of unsolved misunderstandings. And I've watched A LOT of C-dramas. In some C-dramas you almost have to wait through the entire drama, for the actors to find out the misunderstanding. As I said, this one has a fast pacing, even though it's 51 episodes long.
I like this drama a lot. The chemistry btwn leads is amazing. The only thing i didnt like is how many episodes…
Yes, they have an amazing chemistry together. How far have you come in the drama? Watched everything released? There was indeed a space where they weren't together, but they make up for that later in the drama. Just continue watching, then you'll see :)
I still can't believe whoever pairing ariel's with in any scene, her and her partner make their scenes so intriguing…
You both are so undoubtedly true on this part! All of the actors and actresses shines so bright together with her. That's also what makes this drama so intriguing to watch.
Hi! I just watched Meteor Garden on Netflix... okay I BINGED watched it lol. And loved it.Before that I watched…
Haha, died out our laughter reading your comment! I would indeed have binge-watched Meteor Garden too, if I hadn't watched it as it was released. Also a truly enjoyable drama! Love O2O is also great, just a genre entirely different in comparison. I don't know how long you've watched k-dramas, or if you've earlier given up on C-dramas, but the quality of C-dramas has improved immensely during these past years. Therefore, I predict that the C-dramas will sooner or later become somewhat the same spotlight as the k-dramas. You should also try out some Taiwanese dramas, because they are usually shorter.
Nonetheless, I hope you will find this equally satisfying, if not even more entertaining, than Meteor Garden. And please do not binge-watch it too much ;) Enjoy the process of watching it "slowly" (5 episodes at a time ;) )
Very good article and a very accurate description of the"must watch" factor for this drama. As a C-drama watcher…
Thank you for your delightful comments about my article - I really appreciate it! And welcome to the fangirl club of Vin Zhang haha! <3 I've also watched all of those dramas you've mentioned, and they are just awesome.
I agree with unquestionably everything you've commented. The progress of the drama, Bin Bin, Ariel, dual chemistry and Austin Lins great acting and cute dimples (my all time favourite anti-hero, by the way).
Let's look forward to how the ending will turn out! Can't believe it ends soon! :(
I watched the first few episodes but decided I'll watch it when the drama's finished bcs Chinese dramas have a…
No one knows how it will end, because it's not finished yet. However, since it's a c-drama and it also has a prophesy with death included, will someone most likely die in the end. But then again, let's see how it turns out.
Yes, Xing En is amazing! She could really go as a male :D So masculine and beautiful at the same time!
thank you for your article, I´m currentlyu on ep 42, but i see ep 43 is already subbed so will watch it today…
You are so right! This is a romantic drama, which actually starts from the very beginning. Something that is usually not seen in Chinese dramas. Additionally, I loved how BuQi in the beginning of the drama is quirky and a huge fangirl of Lotus Robed Knight!
I'm the type of getting bored in the middle of the dramas. Even though this drama is long Im still watching. And…
I'm the same as you, there is usually a part in the middle of the drama, which is immensely dreadful to watch and just simply boring. However, as you also said, this drama is still going strong and not bored at all. It's truly worth it to watch.
great article! i started watching this back when i was waiting for Ming Lan to update . It is def. on the light…
I agree with you on the light part, and that's definitely a positive point to be made. This is a great drama for those, who either need a break from the political/komplex long dramas out there and also for those who has never truly been hooked on Chinese dramas. I currently have too many dramas on the go, but when this drama is finished, I believe I will be watching Ming Lan. What's your opinion so far?
The female lead is truly one of my favourite actresses. She is sublime!
Hi Julie, well done! I’m surprised to read that this is the first article you have written - it’s so well…
Thank you so much for your kind words! <3 The point about Yang Mi, is the same opinion that I have. They are both amazing actresses in their own way. Vin Zhang also always delivers, but him partnering up with Ariel made his acting even greater. It's a joy to watch them both in this drama.
I'm also glad that I love it as much as you do! :D
