So show like " A Business proposal", a boooring, lazy drama where the romance is the main and only factor, with…
I despised how the drama writers tried to grossly sweep cheating/betrayal/financial scam/stalking/workplace assaults/abusive parents under the rug in the latter part of the show. It was unrealistic, out of character and unfairly forced on the main leads that were victimised by these people but end up either almost blaming themselves for it or just non realistically become friendly with.
Made any sort of advice or message this writer tried to communicate unreliable and untrustworthy.
The lead couple were okay but their development as characters or their relationship was neglected by the drama, that too in favour of developing characters that didn’t deserve it.
Hated Business Proposal too though. I don’t understand the hype or rating either. Some funny moments, but I couldn’t stand the lead couple relationship lol. I reckon it’s to do with its incredibly lucky timing of release. Because it came out when there was a drought of classic trope romcoms and the target audience (+Netflix) was incredibly new to Kdramas (Covid era Hallyu wave).
I don’t understand why people are hating on this drama or the actors good Lord lol (separate actor and character…
Uhh..… you literally wrote “ this drama made me hate song Kang ”
And now you say “ I don't hate the actor “ ?
I can understand not liking a character, just when it transcends into people throwing personal attacks on their actors just for playing their roles, can’t stand that. And there’s plenty of that behaviour on mdl.
I don’t care about “tags” on mdl drama page. This isn’t even an official drama website. Just a review community for international fans.
The drama’s title is plenty enough of a hint “I know but…” (English title Nevertheless). The narrative of a female lead that knows “this relationship/boy ain’t no good for me, but… she wants it anyway”
As for your “playboy isn’t the issue” but once you find “person to commit”…. Okay but that’s like what the entire drama was about. They DONT promise any commitments. Hence your mdl tag of “friends with benefits”. But the female lead starts wanting more anyway. But she doesn’t communicate that well because she doesn’t expect the playboy figure to settle down with her and is also plain lied to at one point by his ex that he’s back with her (the ex), which she believes easily because of his reputation and the lack of defined relationship she has with him.
The drama ends when the playboy guy promises commitment.
The main point isn’t staying in a toxic relationship. The main point of the drama is to show characters like Na Bi and Jae Eon and relationships of these types exist.
The drama ending is a point of contention by the audience, as everyone has their own interpretation.
Not small wrong turns. Big wrong turns, making me question what kind of person the writers are in real life. The…
It also wouldn’t be so triggering and offensive if this drama was just plain makjangy or cliche.
But no, they try too hard to be pretentious and mature. Gave me some Temperature of Love deja vu, too much tell, no show. Talking is good, but it needs to be backed by showing the actions. Which they totally neglect for the lead couple- just simply showing them being a couple.
And the “life advice” “marriage advice” “dating advice” sections (too much of that) just sounds hollow and untrustworthy when it’s coming from the last characters that should be giving anyone any advice.
The worst part is that with that cast, story, plot and chemistry they had all the elements to make masterpiece,…
Not small wrong turns. Big wrong turns, making me question what kind of person the writers are in real life.
The big problems with this drama is how it tries to actively whitewash and romanticise despicable characters : the cheating second lead couple and the abusive dad. (not to mention workplace assaults and other shit brushed over)
It might have been ignored in 2009 and accepted as just part of drama lalaland, but just a big NO for 2020s.
The main lead characters are fine in themselves. It’s the fact that the drama forces them to make peace and become friendly with their abusers just for a contrived happy ending, and that they are sidelined for the development of the cheating couple…
Reminds me of the ending for that Missing 9 drama. The one where everyone was toasting with and hugging the serial killer that terrorised them during the epilogue, making you think maybe the director accidentally added the behind the scenes portion as part of the drama lol.
The characters are meant to be trash. That doesn’t automatically make it a trash drama.
And I don’t think the drama actually romanticises their behaviour or relationship either.
If it did, the epilogue scene wouldn’t have the FL showing her hesitation with her decision when she glimpses potato boy. Nor would the ML be vague about his commitments to the two random girls hitting on him.
i think the main reason it doesn't have higher ranking is ML being a red flag
Yes. Literally yes. I just read some comment somewhere about how they sincerely despise this actor for playing unlikeable characters in some dramas.
I guess it’s only okay to play crazy “charismatic” psychopaths without getting hate as an actor lol. If you play any other type of flawed unlikeable character, be prepared for the pitchforks😅
wth ! the ml was a walking red carpet and the FL was so stupid for falling for him despite everything ( while…
I don’t understand why people are hating on this drama or the actors good Lord lol (separate actor and character at all times please) when the entire point of the drama is to show how a toxic relationship can look like or that there are many people in real life that are attracted to womanisers/maniser types.
The male lead is SUPPOSED TO BE A RED FLAG. Lmao.
AND the female lead is aware of this from their first meeting. She’s not just a blind doormat or hoodwinked victim.
Also, that one side couple was basically the gender reversed version of the main couple. So if you say you loved ALL the side couples, I’m guessing you don’t mind when the girl is the playboy type, as long as the guy is dedicated. Which speaks of double standards and hypocrisy.
I think you are little bit harsh, but I agree with your overall sentiment.I think this could have worked better…
I don’t think they implied that the Grandpa became very good at ballet ?
He was just acknowledged as a graceful, emoting /inspiring dancer and then got to perform in some small stage as a special segment where a disabled wheelchair lady last performed. Obviously you can’t do ballet without use of your legs, but she was graceful, elegant and otherwise experienced. The grandpa likewise had a natural grace.
Also initially the main characters weren’t even willing to teach him in the first place since they weren’t a casual academy for people just wanting to chill as a hobby. They wouldn’t have even taken on the Grandpa as a student if he had two left feet and clumsy awkward zero potential.
few rare good moments, thankfully no more Imagine Dragons Warriors ruining an emotional scene… but somehow that was much better than whatever the writers were thinking in this forced sequel with Netflix as usual ruining kdramas in their quest to milk this cash cow.
It’s not a completely terrible watch, if you consider S2 + S3 are just one season. But like 90% of the newly added characters are pretty irrelevant to the plot and have no depth or backstory, not to mention they haphazardly introduced too many new faces too quickly. S1 introductions were FAR more smooth and memorable.
And that series ending….. couldn’t be more obvious that they are fed up and just want to wrap this up pronto. Ugh. This why I hate Americanising Kdramas. Stop forcing seasonal format just to milk the $$$.
I don’t know if I’m more disappointed with S3 or S2….
I think the most grateful thing about the release of this sequel is that personally it’s made me appreciate Season 1 so much more despite its flaws lol. Even endearing me to the Warriors soundtrack when I initially couldn’t stand it.
Also, Dear perverted Netflix,
STOP SEXUALISING TEENAGERS.
I don’t care if the actor is like a decade older. The character of Hyun Su is still a literal highschooler, a minor that can’t even legally drink yet, wtf was that in the military experiment camp?
if you are thinking of watching this drama and think the rating is too low don't trust the rating this drama is…
Nah, this series has way more problems than which ship is sailing.
It’s like how Start Up handled its “plot”. They disregarded anything that could have been a really engaging storyline, like there are million ways the whole concept of a love alarm could have been used for great social commentary. What the actual plot and execution ended up being was using a very banal love triangle with three very unlikaeable characters who never get any character development despite a 4 year time jump from teen to adulthood (the creepy stalker, the brat, the selfish player) stretched all the way to the last episode to keep the characters and viewers hanging on who will end up with who.
It’s silly. It’s juvenile. It’s also very contrived. A fine example of immature silly Wattpad fanfic writing. It’s also cheap and insulting to its audience to keep them engaged in a ship war to the last possible moment in order to drive your ratings / subscription when you could’ve easily given them an actual engaging plot.
is this start up 2.0? did another version of Han Ji Pyeong not get chosen? also is. HJP 2.0 played by thee SONG…
It’s worse lol. I have never hated a FL more. Literally every other character is used as a plot device for this bitch who has perpetual victim mentality and who leads on not 1, not 2 but THREE! different boyfriends who are perfectly nice to her even if they have their own flaws.
If this was that Scarlet Heart Moon Lovers drama, and there was a fourth guy or 5th, 6th guy, the plot wouldn’t change except for there being even more random hot guys being stuck in a love with this Mary Sue and neither would this toxic caricature of a female lead change.
But I like how mentioning Han Ji Pyeong is the standard way of expressing everything wrong with a love triangle drama where the writers only care to ignite a ship war but don’t have skills or confidence to actually write a decent plot.
lmao these always make me think of those silly Wattpad fanfics with hypocritical Mary Sues that have Disney Princess syndrome. There’s nothing about them that makes you understand why a truckload of hot, successful guys are chasing her at their own detriment but alas…
Nah man TVD was also trash tv. Elena also gave me whiplash with her switch on her feelings. They literally tried to play off “because I met you first” I’ll choose you lol, like that’s not feelings work.
In the end, this drama will only make me sad for Chae Jong's Character (Yang Do-Hyeok).
Nah he got the best ending. He was #not equipped to deal with the FL’s baggage and neither deserved to be her rebound.
Also, he’s kind of an underdeveloped character in this cast full of messed up flawed people. He was that puppy 모태솔로 male/second male lead from romcom kdrama who’s still in fantasising over his childhood crush and is otherwise nice and perfect. No human flaws. No larger personality outside of his role.
I think what's funny is people automatically calling Na-bi toxic just because Jae-eon is toxic. There's a difference…
Na Bi is very much a red flag of her own.
Let’s just leave the diluted overused term “toxic” aside and consider the fact that people are only pointing out that she’s a messed up person too.
She kissed this male lead for the first time when his lips were still freshly coated in another girl’s lipstick!! That’s some desperate hoe behaviour. Lust and possessiveness winning over any hesitation, boundaries, dignity or self respect.
And she does jump from guy to guy as an rebound even if it’s not anything like the male lead. She breaks up with her first love turned creepy asshole and immediately gets attracted to Jae Eon the same day instead allowing herself the time to process the trauma and betrayal. She wants to forget Jae Eon? Tries to find some nicer young guy to date instead. Oops, too bad it’s a dud, back to Jae Eon it is. Then Yang Do Hyeok turns up, she’s deeply involved with Jae Eon at this point and so not over him, but is considering keeping Do Hyeok on the back burner as the “safe choice”, knowing he likes her. In the webtoon, she does apparently choose Do Hyeok, still being an insecure girl and not having resolved her personal issues and trauma. In the drama epilogue, she’s chosen Jae Eon, but when she sees Do Hyeok she momentarily tries to hide or let go of her relationship with Jae Eon. This girl needs to learn how to be with herself first before latching onto a guy. She’s also not great at communicating what she wants or expects and is easily swayed by gossip. And at times acts differently from what she claims or states. “I’m not a casual hookup type of girl” >> “proceeds to get into an ambiguous FWB situationship because the guy is hot AF and she can’t stop wet dreaming about him”. Her entire world is revolving around this one (red flag) guy. That’s not the sign of a healthy person, and dare I say, can quickly turn toxic to be around.
You need not to always have the intention to hurt people to be a toxic person. In fact lack of self awareness is worse, because you won’t realise you are hurting people around you when you know you care about them and don’t want to hurt them.
Respect AO3 😅.,some of the best literary works I've ready were from there 🤭
keyword: “some” 😅
otherwise 90% fanfics in any fandom are people compulsively shipping two random hot guys together regardless of whether they have even spoken a word to each other on screen or if they are enemies or victim/abuser
I didn’t name any names on my comment ?? So what are you on about me calling on you?
I just saw a series of comments throwing personal attacks and then a series of spams (that I’d already asked the user to stop) and I despise people engaging in personal attacks and name calling.
Also it’s not unreasonable to recommend boycotters to you know just go enjoy the comment section of a drama they actually watched or like.
Made any sort of advice or message this writer tried to communicate unreliable and untrustworthy.

But you didn’t need to diss King the Land. That’s a different genre, and far less niche than this one. Ofcourse more people would like it lol.
Personally both dramas, KTL and this were better in the first half and dragging in the second.
And now you say “ I don't hate the actor “ ?
