So many of my fave tropes in this short but sweet and fulfilling romance story done right: Unrequited Love, Friends To Lovers, Cohabitation. Pleasantly surprised :)
A character driven investigation story, a bit overly complicated and on the slow-paced side, but with a great cast, detailed production and gripping music score. The leads delivered beautifully their flawed, ambitious, secretive characters and their confrontations, as well as their team work, were the best parts of this dark and a bit messy drama.
Thank you OAL for this beautiful 2022 JFF movies review! Having all these different opinions/approaches for 20+2 titles in the same article was a wonderful idea :) Good job, dear friend ❤
A slow-paced, indie road movie about self-discovery, independence and moving on with life. In fact, this was a one-woman-show, with a nuanced yet powerful performance from Aoi Yu.
Though a bit confusing and too complex sometimes, overall it was an intense thriller with a unique, captivating story, great action/fight scenes, convincing transition between the changes in the plot and a solid performance from Yoon Kye Sang and his supporting cast members.
A sad, delicate story about art, inspiration, love, passion, meaning in life and healing. Top-notch cinematography, colouring, countryside setting and music, ethereal performance from Lee Yoo Young.
Kuno Totono is such an intriguing character and I love, love his curly hair and expressions! Suda Masaki, all supporting and guest actors did a marvellous job in this. Can't wait for season 2, with more of the ongoing and new cases he's involved in :)
Such a fun watch! Though definitely an over the top rom-com, with a predictable plot and every possible cliche included, it was very enjoyable :) All characters and sub-stories were delightful, all the tropes were presented in a refreshing way. Special mention to the most iconic harabeoji and Young Seo's cousin and her impeccable english!
Though it had some pacing and balancing between genres problems (school aspect was more developed and 'realistic' than the investigating one), overall it was an interesting watch. Nothing memorable, but adequate.
Refreshingly unique blending of slice-of-life, coming-of-age, sports, friendship and romance genres. Exquisite production, superb acting and a story that could have been a masterpiece if not for the sloppy, rushed closure for most of the characters...
So adorable and heart-warming! Though the story was quite predictable, Matsuyama Kenichi and Ashida Mana's impressive acting, their chemistry and body language interactions made this film a wonderful experience, full of happy tears and silly smiles :)
A heartfelt remake of a familiar story with only a few changes, with a great cast and a wonderful music score. Definitely this couldn't surpass one of the greatest cinema classics, but it was worth watching.
A slow-paced story of friendship, love and loss, divided into too many different subplots and genres that eventually felt disconnected, inconsistent and unbalanced. The strongest elements were the trio's performances (especially Jeon Mi Do's) and the elegant cinematography, while the weakest were the romance subplots and the unequal screen-time and story progression the three FLs had.
A poignant social commentary about loneliness, self-isolation, luck of human connection. Gong Seung Yeon's nuanced performance and the bleak filming tone were among the strongest pros of this slow-paced yet piercing story.
A worth-watching introduction to the world of Wong Kar Wai, which is full of loneliness, longing, melancholy, passion, desperation and thirsty for love people.
Unrequited Love, Friends To Lovers, Cohabitation.
