the scene b/w lee yeon and the spirit of the darkness were so good... i loved how he tricked both imoogi and that woman... he mocked her that even his little brother dont know who she is.... its funny considering his little brother is 600 yrs old...
after today's episode, i feel that they should have gone for someone with more mature looks for imoogi... LDW as lee yeon looks way more powerful than the imoogi... its, like he can knock out the imoogi in a second... kim bum, is also on the cuter side but he still has a bit of devilish looks to play negative roles... lee taeri seems too soft looking for the main villian which makes me dont take imoogi seriously... imoogi is the big baddy of the show so he should be intimidating enough to be the main villiain...
lee rang is gonna have so many regrets in the coming episodes... the guy screwed up so much that there is no going back... i am waiting to see how he redeems himself... in the preview, it seems like the gatekeeper lady is again asking lee yeon to kill lee rang... poor boy was already in depression and knowing his brother loved him all along is gonna make him more depressed...
according to the preview it seems like imoogi hates lee yeon because he was supposed to be the mountain spirit but lee yeon got chosen over him...
seems like shin joo will have to betray lee yeon at some point of time as he gave his words to the gatekeeper to save lee yeon... i just hope he stays safe till the end...
but people dont like that 10%.... almost everyone wants the ML to be heroic and larger than life... kdrama audience…
you know that i liked the male leads in all the dramas i have named because of how real they are... i am saying about how a section of people still prefer the typical good looking rich ones over the more grounded and realistic leads... the lead guys from backstreet rookie, go back couple and 18 again were very ordinary guys from the working society that dont have any special quality to brag about whereas the SLs in these dramas were rich and famous... they are at lose when they get compared to the SL and most people saw them as weak MLs just because they were portrayed in a realistic manner... these guys belong to the 10% you said early...
if you have seen flower of evil then you might know the FL never neglected the child... it was just a role reversal... she was a detective so her working hours were not flexible for her to dress the kid up and send her to school... the typical stuffs that done by mothers were done by the father in the drama as he was someone who works from home and had more free time than the wife... he used to do all the household jobs and dont even have any problem doing it... except for the guy having a mental disorder they were a pretty happy and balanced family...
i guess in the second or third episode when jiah told she knows he is the one that saved her in childhood and has been looking for him every since, he was surprised that she remembers him.. also he tried to erase her memory of the brothers fighting at her home which she clearly didnt forget... i guess that happened in the first 3 episodes...
I noticed there's a trend in kdramas where they use "younger" actors for characters in school, then few years…
the drama is more about showing all the dimension of the leads rather than giving them character development... both the leads genuinely loved each other for almost 20 yrs but started having communication problem and got distant from each other... now they are seeing each other in a different light and understanding what the other went through... when DY told DJ that he made a mistake by choosing her she only saw it at face value and didnt think about all the hardship he is facing and went ahead with the divorce even when he begged her he dont want a divorce... now when he is away from her she is finally seeing how important he is to the family and the sacrifices he made for them... the kids are the ones that need character development and they are getting it... siah started understanding her parents and siwoo started being more open about himself...
Except that Lee Yeon already saved her life at least 5 times. If that isn't damsel in distress... Juuuuustttt…
to start with supernatural doesnt come under the genre of the romance b/w human and supernatural being... still even in supernatural the leads died multiple times and were brought back by more powerful beings... if it wasnt for the higher powers having an interest in the Winchesters they would have stayed dead like the rest of the hunters like jo and her mother... also winchesters are trained hunters and they were trained since childhood... even then they at times they get trapped by supernatural beings and there are supernatural creatures they are unaware of like the trickster... the winschesters also put themselves in danger to save each other like dean sold his soul to bring sam from the dead and so on...
when one is surrounded by creepy children ghosts they run for their life without thinking where they are going... she didnt had the time to process and think it through... even when a human serial killer is after someone they also just run and somehow ends up in the terrace or in isolated areas... everyone runs off to the terrace in dramas and movies for some weird reasons... its basically because they are not in the right mind to think things through... if it was someone else in place of jiah they would have also went up to the 2nd floor to find out what that constant sound is... in horror movies everyone goes out of their house into the dark to find out what it is.. jiah was at least inside a house fully lighted up... things like this are cliches that happen in every horror and thrillers... as the audience, we know they are going into places they shouldn't be going but as characters, they go into dangerous situations either due to curiosity or due to helplessness... even in crimes that happen in real life victims, dont end up in that situation because they wanted to be... a lot of people get into danger while walking in isolated areas in dramas as well as in real life but they dont go into that area to get into danger...
as a child she was smart enough to save herself from monsters who looked like her parents, she was smart enough to understand that the girl in the bus is lying but she didnt think that the girl is a supernatural being... she is smart but she is also impulsive and being impulsive doesnt mean she is dumb... lee yeon also walked right into the trap of lee rang and got sold in return for those glasses... lee rang, even though he knows what he was doing is wrong, still made a deal with the chairman guy... even the imoogi himself went to lee yeon and got killed...
when supernatural beings who are more than 1000 yr old can make mistakes and end up in trouble, the FL is just a 30 yr old human being with zero experience with supernatural powers...
but people dont like that 10%.... almost everyone wants the ML to be heroic and larger than life... kdrama audience…
18 again and go back couple are pretty well-written dramas which show the inner torment and the struggles the MLs faced for the FL and his family... people still preferred the SL esp in go back couple simply because he was the hotter one... since 18 again also has a younger version of the ML who is good-looking, the SLS is not that severe... but if people had the choice to choose b/w the older version of the ML and the SL for the FL almost everyone will choose the SL... flower of evil is one of the few kdramas with perfectly written lead characters and is very gender-neutral and still, people call the FL a bad mother just because she doesn't spend as much time with the kid as the father... no guy will be called a bad father if he doesn't spend as much time with the kid as the mother...
I dare to say this ....I am very dissappointed in whoever thought that including childish characteristics into…
that rubber duckies was just for comic relief and nothing else... the vet was just pulling his legs in front of the girl... all his life he lived like a king with people around to look after him.. after leaving the mountain spirit position the vet was always there to look after him... so obviously he wont be washing his clothes and dishes...
Grown up Imoogi although cute is not intimidating at all. Wish they had casted someone else, Heesung actor from…
i dont mind this imoogi but if the villian from flower of evil was the imoogi it would have been more interesting... he has that evil sexy thing going on for him... i think the child imoogi was creepier than the grown up imoogi...
I noticed there's a trend in kdramas where they use "younger" actors for characters in school, then few years…
Ya.. there is no consistency on when and where the younger and older version comes in... Even in present days, they randomly show the older version according to their convinence... They show the older version being emotional when it comes to the kids and others but the younger version when it comes to DJ... It comes off as noona romance... Atleast show both the versions with DJ in the present like with everyone else or don't show the older version in the present with anyone... This is my only complaint with the show... Everything else is just perfect...
Except that Lee Yeon already saved her life at least 5 times. If that isn't damsel in distress... Juuuuustttt…
So according to you how should the ML from hotel del luna saved himself from vengenful ghosts or how jiah should have saved herself from the shaman or the child ghosts on her own without the help of Lee Yeon? They clearly didnt put themselves in those situation purposefully or because of their decisions... She saved herself from the fear trap on her own without anyone's help because she had to fight it using her inner power and not physical strength...
I simply meant romantic fantasy dramas with human and supernatural beings might not be the genre you like as you find the human counter parts to be damsel in distress... It's a given fact that ones the human counterpart get tangled with the supernatural being they are bound to attract danger and no matter how clever and smart the human is they cannot physically save themselves from the other supernatural powers... Twilight, the vampire diaries, teen wolf, goblin, hotel del luna, korean odessey all have human leads always in danger and getting saved by the more powerful leads... That's a given... It's like how kids need adults to supervise and look after them... Humans are basically like kids in the supernatural universe... That doesn't mean they are damsel in distress... You cannot expect a 5 yr old kid to physically win a fight over a 30 year old strong man... English is not my first language and I am not good at writing in an articulate manner.. if we were speaking you could understand from my ton that I wasn't being disrespectful or rude but when I write it's not possible... I am sorry if it hurt you... When you read my comments read it as it is without trying to find any emotions in it... I write my comments in an elaborate manner to make myself clear as I am not that good with the language... That's why most of my comments are super long...
because lee do hyun is better at conveying the emotion of the situation
they both are good... they both have emotional scenes and they both do a good job... DY's scenes with everyone else shows the older and younger version whereas with DJ only the younger version... it comes off more as a fan service or the recent trend of older women and younger guy... both the older and younger version of DY was shown in the present time when the mother went to the bus stand... they could have shown the younger version at the start of the kiss and the older version at the end or the older version when DY is the one giving emotional speech to DJ... or they could have went how the movie did it... make the older version as an extended cameo and show him only in the starting, the flashbacks when the kids were grownup and at the end... cut him completely off in the present... its like there is no consistence and DY changes randomly... this is my only problem with the show...
it is said by shin joo that lee yeon used to look after the doppelgangers from afar till they die but this is the first time he is actually interacting with one of the doppelgangers to this level esp because jiah went after him and found him... the other doppelgangers didnt do it... that reminded me, lee yeon cannot erase jiah's memory whereas he might have erased the memories of his encounter with other lookalikes considering he needs to go near them and do that hand thing to see if they have the fox beard... so there are chances that the others were just lookalikes and not reincarnations of aheum
I noticed there's a trend in kdramas where they use "younger" actors for characters in school, then few years…
they should have kept the younger version of the leads when siwoo and siah were kids and the older version only for grownup siah and siwoo... that way there will be a huge gap b/w the younger and older versions... now it looks like 5 yr old kids had the younger version and 10 yr old kids had the older version... in 5 yrs the leads aged 10-15yrs... also they should show the older version of DY in a fixed way... like if DY is going through an emotional movement with his children or wife show the older DY and for the rest of the normal scenes show younger DY... they use older DY on all the father-children emotional scenes but younger DY on all the emotional and romantic scenes b/w the leads... older DY and HJ scenes are only shown in the flashbacks...
ah eum offered her body thinking lee yeon will save her and jiah only knows lee yeon said ah eum means nothing…
tiger brows or something... i was confused whether its eyebrows or eyelashes... lol i tried to google it just to know if its something from korean folklore but no help...

we have a kiss in the rain scene waiting for us...
from whatever clip saw( without eng sub) this episode also seems to be action packed....
