winning a cannes doesn't mean much... you do realize many of the cannes winners are pretentious, artsy nonsensical films? bargain received a 7.4 because the plot is nonsensical. i mean, i agree that some of the scores are inflated like crazy, but the lower ranked ones (especially the dramas and not the films) are often ranked low for a reason.

fs in beyond evil? kingdom was not fast paced, it had many build-up eps. but ok, fine, stranger, through the darkness, the guest, the king of pigs, children of nobody, life on mars, strangers from hell, nobody knows, white christmas... like cmon now. even imbd has rated this poorly. you're forgetting that k-films first hit international stage with their thrillers, not their rom-com.
it depends a lot what you expect. If you are into things that are fast phased, and follow more the line of The…
"we all have different tastes and honestly are you truly cross with anyone who does not share your sentiment?"
no, no i think u're misunderstanding me. like people were saying hellbound was only lowly rated because it was a thriller, then i watched it and the writing was absolute garbage. i think there are thrillers that are well written with high quality and those will be loved almost universally, but ones with subpar writing, acting, directing, etc will not be rated highly. in other words, i have yet to experience an incredibly high quality thriller that wasnt also well received.
Much better than overrated crap like King the Land, A Business Proposal, or My Demon. That's just Mydramalist.…
eh, then our tastes dont align. for me, zombie detective, mask girl, and the killing vote were ass and beyond evil was a masterpiece.
"who's comparing Kingdom with The Glory?" people compare thrillers in terms of quality and entertainment factor just like u did... it's a lot better comparison than My Demon or King the Land lmfao.

"But I absolutely get why this one will not be appealing to half of the watchers" i dont get comments like this. if a drama is well written, well directed, and the acting is good, people will rate it highly, for example, signal and beyond evil. if there's issues in any of those three factors or more, it typically wont be well received.
I feel like a lot of people on this website have a negative bias towards the screenwriter/director Yeon Sang Ho…
i liked him for train to busan and king of pigs. hellbound, peninsula, and the rest were ass to me. this guy is known for hits and misses. he literally ruined the save me series ðŸ˜ðŸ˜. we can be ambivalent about someone without being a hater.
yeah, i think that's what happened lol. he's lowkey grey or blacklisted in the industry after they revealed his…
"I haven't seen the news that he was looking for international projects and failed." uh, the part about failure is just my evaluation for how successful his "hopeless" movie was. but yes sjk himself has claimed he wanted to pursue international projects in an interview and that's why he was doing an indie project for free. here's an english article about it https://www.straitstimes.com/life/entertainment/superstar-song-joong-ki-cannot-find-work-outside-of-south-korea
"Who knows what he uses as criteria for selecting his projects?" yeah that's a fair view. that's why i said "lowkey" since it's speculative and not a fact of the matter. because for me, based on the evidence that i can see, i think he's greylisted, but you might think he's purposefully choosing these smaller projects, which is a fine position to take.

no offense but this comment isnt helpful whatsoever. you're just claiming a thriller is better than romcoms. we want to know how this drama fares with other thrillers like signal, beyond evil, the glory, kingdom, etc.

if you guys truly didn't have an issue with single mothers, you guys wouldnt give such nasty responses. it would be like my thinking katie was a blonde over a brunette and you guys can simply correct me, and ill stand to be corrected. but judging from your responses, yall are treating it as if im claiming katie evaded taxes or some bullshit. what a bunch of virtue signaling hypocrites.

when the wife news came out, some of the k-netz, especially the female netz, went crazy and started spreading malicious rumors, hating on sjk, etc., while most just lost interest in him. given that atmosphere, given that he wants to pursue projects internationally (but failed), and given that he's working with rookie screenplays at his caliber, i don't think it's presumptuous to assume he's at least greylisted.

i never claimed there was any problem. i never claimed/insinuated that starting your own agency is problematic either. i never claimed to know more about sjk in the forums than others. stop reading between the lines and read properly. oh, the suicide bullshit, you're fucking etoks. what a low life scum you are.

i've already edited the information and even updated my comment with the new information. why are you repeating yourselves? and there was information of her having children until song joong ki had an interview on december/january of last year (right after his son's annoucement). even, up to his son's announcement in his fan chat, you can find korean tabloids claiming his excitement of bringing 2 new children into his life. i obviously didn't update my news of song joong ki because i'm not a paparazzi.

it doesnt change the fact that after his wife's news he's not participating in big budget projects. i never said his creating an agency is bad for him????

wtf is wrong with you??? when i read the news of him introducing his son, i thought it said he was a father to 2 new children. there's nothing wrong w being a single mother and if she wasn't one, it was a genuine mistake. u have to fucking chill
edit: k-media is claiming it's her goddaughter. the biggest irony is i probably got the info about song having 2 children from twitter.

i think production companies just arent sure. there are projects that have flopped even without any controversy so the slightest issues can become a big fear. if he features in a successful project and many people flock to his movie/drama then other companies will probably have more confidence in hiring him. problem with korea is it's too small with too large of a talent pool.
