loooooooooooool. you're seriously here trying to justify this dumb show? if mafia can kill everyone at night then…
"I never asked you not to write a negative review"
lololol you wrote: "If you're unhappy with the show....why are even watching, just drop it lol...Don't try to change others opinions coz every show has it's own flaw and nothing is perfect in this world"
so you tell me 1. drop the show 2. don't try to change other people's opinions after i wrote a negative comment about the show. what does that imply if not: don't write negative comments about the show????

"we yet don't now if Mi na died or not."
yes, the only way to preserve this dumb show is if they insist da beom didn't kill one of the civilians: either the guy he suffocated and who still has a bag over his head for a long duration is still alive (mind you brain death usually occurs around ~10 mins without oxygen and you start getting permanent brain damage starting from 3-5 mins...) or the girl that got repeatedly bashed, for like a minute straight, with a dumbbell is still alive.... either scenario is extremely unbelievable. especially because the previous episode also left the precedent that mafia members can physically harm and leave permanent damage onto the civilians that they did not target at night...

so... killing them by taking advantage of the rules of the game without touching them is more ruthless than playing the game and physically killing them using crude methods?????????????????????????

not the same equivalence. you were telling me not to write any negative comments, but i don't care if you try to contradict or criticize my criticisms. feel free to try to argue otherwise.

"lol, I didn't mention you right it's for people who had a question mark in their head"
okay, and I was just explaining how if we accept/justify this nonsensical premise that it's okay for mafia to kill everyone at night, then we're easily led down to a rabbit hole of completely unfair situations that makes the entire system of playing "Mafia" useless.

which part of what i said have anything to do with ruthlessly killing people??? everything i've written was using the system of the game against others. if you were mafia, whether you kill the x number of civilians now or later is just a matter of when unless you're willing to sacrifice yourself as a martyr.
" the minimum they can kill was 1 hence they did it."
until ep 11 completely contradicts this.. da beom already killed at least 2 in a single night. the traitor friend gets suffocated and mina gets her head bashed in.

To those who are asking if they could kill more people in a go why didn't they kill before.....put yourselves…
loooooooooooool. you're seriously here trying to justify this dumb show? if mafia can kill everyone at night then there's no point of this game. also there are simpler ways to kill them.
we know that mafia can move people's bodies without consequences. so, mafia could have simply moved the civilians out of bounds.
we know that people can take each other's phones without consequence, we know that mafia can take civilian's phones without consequence, and we know that people must physically vote in order to live. so, mafia could have thrown everyone's phones outside the boundary, tie up the bodies of the sleeping civilians, and barricade themselves. all the civilians would die the next voting period.
like, if you just think about the rules that was allowed in the show, there are innumerable scenarios that could result unfairly because of the liberties this stupid drama gave for the mafia/players.
don't try to turn a dumb script like this into something clever; at best, it can be entertaining, but by no stretch of the imagination was it well thought out.

Well, I also read the webtoon and I find it kinda lacking compared to the K-drama. In the K- drama they fixed…
okay, so I rewatched ep 1.
first, your claim about the brother is actually not a plot hole. I misremembered it and you may have done so as well. all the ML sees the BACK of the guy, him handing the flower, and then entering the car and driving off. sure, you can still make the weaker argument that he should've known the brother's car, but it's less of a plot hole than the original claim which is that he saw the brother but didn't know it was him.

second, as I said about the daredevil: the character's physiological state will affect the ML's personality indirectly. what is our personality? it's not just our conscious decisions, but it's also our subconscious based on our genetic make-up and our experience, and our brain/nervous system's make up. how can the ML "absorb" the ability of the daredevil if he's a coward in his original body? how can he absorb the ability of the spy if he lacks a levelheaded mind and can't work under pressure in his original body? surely, if absorbs their abilities and is in their body, then the ML adopts their emotional control, i.e., their personalities. the only difference is that he gets to make the decisions based not only on his experience, but theirs combined. finally, his experience is more dominant than theirs, so it's not as if he's having a complete personality shift. rather, it's that his personality is affected by the body he's in, which acts as a passive "ability."

"unless they add another plot change to the drama"
i'm guessing it has something to do with how he accidentally killed a bystander (which I'm presuming is his gf)?

"in the webtoon she states this is the first time"
yes, but this isn't the webtoon. you can't apply the reasoning of the webtoon if it isn't directly stated in the drama. as you've also aforementioned, the drama makes creative liberties of its own.

"physical ability and partial memory recollection is one thing, personality change is another. he is a whole different soul existing in these different bodies. he has just enough memories to pick up where the body was left off, that's nowhere near enough to significantly change his personality."
this is not true; when he became a spy, he knew where the spy hid the stolen money/good. he also knew who the spy loved and felt the betrayal personally when she betrays him. when he became the CEO, he knew the interrelations of the CEO with his brother/family. when he became the bullied student, he knew the student's relationship with his mom and his classmates. none of this suggest it's just cusory background information; the ML literally embodies the person he reincarnates as for the time being.

"the whole point is to see if he can solve her 'game' and evade dying. giving him different personalities in different bodies takes away from that because that's essentially not him who is surviving."
uh yes it is. it's still him who makes the shot-call and him making the decisions on behalf of the characters. the only difference is that he'll gain some of the personality traits of the characters. for instance, the daredevil episode perfectly exemplifies this:
normally, ML would not do something so ridiculous as the stunt the daredevil was performing, but in the daredevil's body, he either lacks fear or feels pleasure when he gets into the fight or flight response. so he makes an entirely different decision than he would in his own body. his personality in each reincarnation is an admixture of his own experience and the incarnated body's physiological state + experience.

"i suggest you read the webtoon. a lot of your reasoning is already explained there."
I don't think blindly applying the reasoning of the webtoon if it isn't explicitly stated in the drama is helpful. if that is how the drama operates, which it hasn't from what I could see, then it's simply not good writing. all information should be presented as it is so any viewer can understand the context without outside information. btw, I've already read the webtoon but its been a while.

Oh ffs. They’re not middle aged They’re just a little over 30. How old are you to consider that middle aged?…
middle age just refers to middle of your life expectancy. for some it could start as early as 30 and others it could start as late as 50. the point isn't to make some pedantic remark about their age, but to suggest they're way too old to be portraying high schoolers.

and imo they're overrated. park hyung sik became popular in an uncompetitive era (2017-2021). he neither has the talent nor the looks but is considered one of korea's top talents. park shin hye had a few good movies and dramas, but she's always been outshined by her peers. when she has to carry the show/movie on her own, they end up mediocre (Memories from Alhambra, #Alive, Sisyphus, etc.). think about all her greatest movies and shows, do you remember them for PSH or her peers?

"you're telling me he's dated her for 7 years and had no idea she had a brother?"
good point about the brother.

"kdrama yijae is nice and hardworking, why would she be so pissed at him specifically for jumping..."
we're in the midst of finding out.

"... when plenty of others have been in the same position?"
death is "pissed" but giving him an opportunity for redemption instead of leaving him to face the consequences of his actions, which is the afterlife (or hell according to Death). Death is being generous with him in this scenario. Death would most likely be pissed at others too; this is not a plot hole lol.

"yijae himself is inconsistent within the different bodies"
we know that yijae gains their memories and their skills. why wouldn't you presume he adopts some of their personality as well???

if you mean that "writing is horrible" is harsh (as I'm not sure which statement you felt was harsh), I think you're misunderstanding me. bad writing can still be enjoyable because it can be flashy or thrilling. I just don't think this is an appropriate drama to watch as a mystery drama due to its simplicity and constant deus ex machina moments.

i can see where ur coming from but i feel like ur being WAY too harsh- i feel like we need to remember these are…
"so its kinda unrealistic to expect them NOT to panic"
I am not getting upset that they are panicking. I am getting upset that they are panicking in an unsensible manner. if you think it's realistic writing for EVERY character to throw out rationality once people start panicking then that's your unrealistic view. this is not how reality works. in reality, there are a good number of people who are unable to think, but also a good number of people who are ABLE to think under pressure. if you have a large group of people, then we should get multiple personalities, modes of arguments, and strategizing, especially in a setting like this. otherwise what's the point of a large group??? and if all your characters act similarly, often giving black and white responses, then it's simply bad writing.
ep 11 is a perfectly illustration of this nonsensical level of writing. if your best friend suspects you as Mafia, EVEN IF YOU ARE PANICKING, are you going to lash out on him or will you plead with him before he makes his decision????????? no one panics to the degree that they'd just kill themselves. self preservation is always foremost.

"i didnt mind anyone to have any elaborate strategies bcuz it was so sudden and theyre all kids"
these are HIGH SCHOOLERS in their JUNIOR YEAR or 16-17 year olds. they are not adolescent nor young teenagers who haven't hit puberty. do you believe once you hit 18, 25, or which ever number you have in mind for an "adult," you can magically think logically and strategize but if you're a under that number you're unable to? what kind of ridiculous argument is this?

"we're SHOWN that the doctor has a 2 day cooldown"
yes, and that's called Deus Ex Machina. just because the story gives us a stupid explanation to fix their logical inconsistencies doesn't mean there weren't a bunch of plot holes and inconsistencies to begin with. constantly this drama FORCES the direction it wants to go and often requires unnatural behavior or explanations to do just that.

"ofc they knew they could use their abilities any time...they couldve checked if they could use it...plus, u could vote any time of the day as well so i dont see whats the problem with them being able to use it any time.."
we found out later that the special roles didn't wake up night, which doesn't fit the rules of the original game. also, that would make it even MORE IDIOTIC for Na Hee to write her message as Cop just to save Jun Hee because potentially anyone else can see her write it. also, she could have revealed who were the civilians once she revealed Mafia to everyone else, but she doesn't. Instead, Jun hee has to record the situation, which is unnecessary. and other people still don't know with absolute certainty that Jun hee is a civilian.

"idk what mafia u have played or watch but its an actual strategy to reveal ur the police (in this case) to get protection from people."
i never said Cop shouldn't reveal herself. wtf? the issue with this lousy drama is that Mafia need to play hide and seek to find the people. it took us 10 episodes for people to legitimately hide, and Jun Hee and Na Hee's best strategy is to go into the bathroom that SHE ALWAYS WENT to and simply hide in the roof...? you have the entire school and outside the school... literally pick a better spot to hide and come up with better traps... they had, as you said, 5 days to think about this. given a very GENEROUS estimation that they at least have 12 hours per day to think for 5 freaking days. that's 5*12 = 60 hours. they have 60 hours to think about the logic of the game and how to best survive. even if they'll require, again, a generous estimation of 20-30 hours to get used to the circumstances, that's still 30 hours to figure things out. you're telling me NOT A SINGLE person spent their time wisely??? they all just hung out in their rooms for 12 hours and gathered at night to blindly accuse others? then it's simply BAD WRITING.

".ofc she'd get punished, that would just ruin the game"
you're literally not understanding my argument. my argument is that ofc this rule applies if you're playing by the normal rules of Mafia. however, this rule wasn't specified in the beginning. it is an implicit rule of Mafia. my point is that all the other nonsensical rule like you can show your ability to other people and special roles don't wake up at night ARE NOT PART OF THE RULES OF MAFIA. yet, the characters treat them as if they are and the drama just goes along with it. even it's true the special roles never woke up at night and only the mafias did according to the rule, that still doesnt suggest that the cop can just show her ability to civilian. why wouldn't the host block her ability just as mafia got blocked? ah, because that's not the direction the story wants to push?
it's just as I said, "the rules only apply when it makes sense for the story but it doesnt apply when the story doesnt make sense? just invent your own game and make up the rules as you go at this point"

Shows like this and Tomorrow are not helping anyone who is severely depressed enough to end their life. Threatening…
You are making up problems that do not exist in this drama. The character isn't clinically nor severely depressed. He gave up and decided to end his life in the spur of the moment because everything he worked for vanished in the blink of an eye. He regretted his decision because he realized he wanted to continue living despite his circumstances.
Just because someone goes into a fit of rage because someone else did something disrespectfully to him doesn't mean he suffers from anger management. Nor does the person whose life crumbles apart and has given up the will to live mean he's a sufferer of clinical or severe depression.

this writing is so horrible. everyone panics and gets physical before talking. there was literally no purpose for the special roles in the show except to save Junhee and to kill off a single Mafia. none of the special roles strategized and none of them had elaborate plans to live. they just get killed off easily and no one bats an eye. also, the writers allowing cop to show her abilities to others and use them whenever she wants to is so braindead. to believe both the cop and the doctor miraculously knew they could use their abilities any time instead of just the night is equally dumb. oh, but when the Mafia tries to share the role to others, the host destroys their throats to abide by the Mafia rules??? what was the point of calling it Mafia? the rules only apply when it makes sense for the story but it doesnt apply when the story doesnt make sense? just invent your own game and make up the rules as you go at this point.

This is hat this place is - no substance - pretty makeup faces and woah its good.
I agree there are some overrated K-dramas like True Beauty, which imo, should be like a 6 max. But all the very highly rated K-dramas in MDL, especially the older ones, are well deserved. I don't know many, if any, J-dramas with the same quality of production, complexity, and direction like Signal, Move to Heaven, Under the Queen's Umbrella, Extraordinary Attorney Woo, Kingdom, etc.
Even Mother (2010) vs Mother (2018) has a disparity of only 0.4 in MDL due to production and acting quality, which is a significantly low difference imo. Ignoring the production quality, the acting in the K-drama remake was more nuanced and better.
You gave Confessions and the Queen's Classroom both a 10/10 [the rest I haven't seen], but even a 8.5/10, which is the MDL rating, is overrated imo. They're at best a 8/10, and Queen's Classroom should be slightly lower than Confession. However, the K-dramas, White Christmas or The King of Pigs, which I'd rank similarly plot wise and the latter with higher production, are also a 8.5 and a 8.7 respectively, so they're all overrated similarly.
And you're giving dramas like Nigeru wa Haji da ga Yaku a 9.5... This is a ridiculous overrating. The drama literally makes the mistakes that you're complaining for K-dramas: that the actors/actress are constantly in make-up and well-dressed even at home. This should be a lot more noticeable due to the inferior cinematography, which will make the make-up on the actors a lot more obvious to see. Yet you're claiming to notice this in K-dramas but not J-dramas??? At times, some of the Japanese actors/actresses look like they have sunscreen on...
The reason why J-dramas tend to score lower is not only due to production, but quality of the acting and screenplay. Even if the plot is interesting, many J-drama screenplays seem to lack cohesion and organization. Furthermore, J-dramas have a unique acting style. Although this is slowly changing as of recently, J-dramas use theatrical style acting that requires people to get accustomed to to enjoy the story. However, by most standards of film acting other than Japan's, it would not be considered "good" acting .

The opposite was true for Yu Yu Haksho. I think production was good, the CGI and acting was decent, set design was horrible (what do you expect from an anime live action?), but the story and screenplay was without depth and felt extremely rushed.
