It wasn't disappointing. It's just that the male lead is slightly too toxic for my liking. He was hard to watch at times. But I did continue watching after episode 5 although I proceeded with more caution. It's a great drama nonetheless.
Watching this drama was more of a spur-of-the-moment decision but, four episodes in, I think I'm hooked! I know for a fact that if I was in my early teens in 2001-2002, I would have been absolutely obsessed.

I will watch it most definitely! I have no doubt he'll smash the character of Cao Cao out the park as much as I do love Chen Jianbin. And I promise you won't regret watching the 2010 adaptation. Thank you so much for your recommendations!
Have you read the novel? If you have, even watching all the action might be enough. You will at least understand…
No, I've not read it. And I know it'll take me a while to get through it all so the English subs may be ready before I'm done! Maybe I should've read it earlier...

UPDATE: OH. MY. GOD. I have just checked it out and the actor who plays Cao Cao in the Advisor's Alliance AND its sequel is the EXACT same actor who plays Liu Bei (Cao Cao's arch-nemesis) in the 2010 series. Oh my godddd, although I found his character annoying and lacklustre compared to Cao Cao, I actually love the actor so much!!

This 95 episode series will definitely do you some good then! It'll make every other Three Kingdoms adaptation look inferior in comparison although, admittedly, I have yet to watch the Advisor's Alliance. I have had it on my watchlist for a while but there is a VERY long queue! I think the drama is only called Three KIngdoms but as long as it says 2010, you're good. I've never heard of Growling TIger, Roaring Dragon. I might have to check it out.
Let us wait. It is just 3.5 more hours. We will know the actual situation by then, and can then decide how best…
I tried watching it on Viu as well as some point but it was not available where I lived. Unfortunately, I've not read the book so I don't really know much about Ji Yunhe, Chang Yi or any other of the other characters. All I know about them is that they will both go through a lot and I'm all about an angst-filled drama! As for the trailers, your analysis is a lot deeper than mine! When I see Ji Yunhe, I just get strong Bai Feng Jiu flashbacks with the voice and her tail. But her joking around and laughing in the TBW preview did remind me of Changge and how she used to tease Leyan! But I know when TBW starts, I'll begin to see more similarities between Yunhe and Changge so hopefully I'll have some profound interpretations of the two characters as well!

I'll also add this 2018 version to my watchlist although I can't see anyone topping Chen Jianbin as Cao Cao in the 2010 version! He makes the heroes look so dull compared to him. I highly recommend you watch it, it's a classic.

Yes, I also hope this will be the case. I just want the English subs to be made available early, not have to wait until after the drama has aired. But I suppose we'll find out in less than three hours! I've been watching loads of TLB clips on Twitter recently. I also think a rewatch is long overdue!

Yes, you're right. It's just that what happened with the Royal Feast was so disappointing that I've begun to panic and think the same will happen with other upcoming dramas I've been anticipating for a long time!
O ye of little faith, the series hasn't even started yet! And if I am not mistaken, there will be a Part 2 after these 22 episodes. I have a lot of trust in the director; I don't believe he'll let us down!
Maybe this is my own wishful thinking but I hope Dramacool will have some decent subs ready soon after the premiere because I have been waiting a very long time for this and I don't want to put this drama on hold like I did with Royal Feast because of the auto-translated subs. If worst comes to worst, I'll have to watch it raw!
