How nostalgic! I've watched five out of the eight dramas listed in the article. Both 1 Liter of Tears and Nobuta wo Produce are in my list of best Japanese dramas - I am considering a rewatch of these two. I am also interested in watching 'My Lovely Sam Soon' as it seems to have been a trailblazer of a Korean drama.
Thank you for highlighting Sakamoto Yuji's works! I have watched several of his works including the recent Omameda Towako. My favorites are: Mother, Saikou no Rikon, Woman, and Mondai no Aru Restaurant. I appreciate the female characters in his shows - they are complex and layered and are brought to life by talented actresses.
Why? From what I understand, the the Taiwanese version was popular in South Korea (not to mention the rest of Asia), so it seems pointless to adapt this drama without switching up major elements in the storyline. The Taiwanese version was pretty much flawless, in my opinion - acting, cinematography, soundtrack -everything came together perfectly.
First watched Kamiki in Aikurushii and have been following his career ever since! Thanks for linking 'Takeru No Plan Drive' - really nice to see Kamiki interacting with his friends.
I found an unexpectedly good k-drama recently! I am currently watching "Into the Ring" and am pleasantly surprised! The plot is entertaining, the camerawork is 'quirky', and the eccentric and humorous characters are a treat to watch! I went in with low expectations since rom-coms bore me and KBS dramas can often be a miss for me.
I drop dramas all the time - I have limited time and interest to be spent on dramas that are not 'good' to me! Usually, a predictable plot and mediocre acting are the reasons why I drop. I can usually tell by the 3-4th episode.
Enjoyable article - thanks for highlighting the refreshing female leads in these dramas!
I am currently watching two Taiwanese dramas and enjoying them both: Wonder Woman and Yong Jiu Grocery Store.
Taiwanese dramas that I would recommend: An Innocent Mistake, In A Good Way, Someday or One Day. Maybe you can pick your next drama based on Chris Wu? He seems to pick good dramas! I've heard good reviews for: Q Series- Love of Sandstorm (has Chris Wu!), The World Between Us (also has Chris Wu!) and The Teenage Psychic.
I've noticed that Taiwan has been putting out some quality content lately - especially in terms of storytelling and exploring interesting characters. Excited to see what else comes out of Taiwan!
Looking forward to seeing more performances!

Loved his work in Pasta and My Mister.
Rest in peace.

I can see why 인연 (fate) is a classic - it is a lovely song!

I usually evaluate by the first few episodes whether I want to drop or not.
