There really is nothing there .... so many people like it for the sweetness .... But this stuff is really not my cup of tea :P
@KellyFlower .... I really would rather flip tables and get angry than sit through something like this .....
If I wanted to get irked, I would get irked at yet another "suposedly smart" female that was nothing more than decoration ... no personality! .... but she wasn't alone, all characters were flat ... so I didn't single her out .
The only one that got me slightly irked is her BFF Er Xi ..... But, I blame the actress mostly :P
@Jeana ... I agree w/ ur review, but it has anger .... I couldn't care enough to be angry ... very blahhh!
An Unpopular Opinion.... Sweet but shallow!
What I Liked (+):
--- Yang Yang is the Master.... Master at Kissing that is (too bad he didn't have a partner)
--- Old Man Yu is most enjoyable character to watch .... The actor was the best in the show! ... NJF gave his character complexity, not present in the writing!
--- Zhang Vin is so very hot as KO ... too bad he didn't have much screen time.
--- enjoyable encounters .... nothing annoying ( nothing interesting either).
--- Villains were not real bad .... some had a little bit of growth... (the only ones who did)
--- The Game scenes were shot well!
--- Good looking cast (but most can't act)
What I did NOT like (-):
--- Practically No plot .... no drama .... nothing much happens .... nothing interesting :P
--- 2-dimensional characters .... No depth, no psyche..... all the more kudos to NJF who made Old Man Yu shine!
--- What's w/ the mystery of Mr. Beautiful and KO???.... It was probably a BL in the novel, they only hinted at it here .... at least they could've turned their friendship into a worthwhile bromance .... not just shallow encounters :P:P
Recommended for those who like:
--- fluff and cute scenes
--- No real villains ... no love triangles ... no conflict ..... no tension .... no growth
--- Don't mind that there is no strong plot, no well-developed or complex characters.
Basically, very bland and very blah!!!! ..... If not for Yang Yang's kisses, there is nothing to watch.
Mifune had a kind of talent I had never encountered before in the Japanese film world. It was, above all, the speed with which he expressed himself that was astounding. The ordinary Japanese actor might need ten feet of film to get across an impression; Mifune needed only three. The speed of his movements was such that he said in a single action what took ordinary actors three separate movements to express. He put forth everything directly and boldly, and his sense of timing was the keenest I had ever seen in a Japanese actor. And yet with all his quickness, he also had surprisingly fine sensibilities.
He has more movies not mentioned in this list that seem interesting 2 I really want to watch is The Pavillion…
Still Looking?.... Both films are on Netflix , but maybe not where you are at the moment :( ... ... actually where u r is better for hard-to-find films, but maybe subs are not available ?
Anything similar and as good / intense as this drama in terms of acting and screenplay? I don't mind the…
Exactly my thoughts :D
My only qualms about slap/kiss is it may negatively influence young girls or I am supporting what may perpetuate mistreatment of women in society ....
Fortunately, both the laws and society's opinions have much improved in past decades (since these stories were written) ....yet still have a way to go .... Anyway, it's a long discussion, that I'll leave for another place ;)
i'm only at ep 3 and I don't know if I have the courage to keep it on... I watched 'Kleun Cheewit'…
Happy to help u avoid shock ;) ...LOL
No need to watch Thara Himalai first .... U've probably fallen for the amazing natural chemistry of Nadech and Yaya, they r the best <3<3<3....
If u decide to watch Rising Sun series for Yadech, Must watch 1 before 2 ... both good.

Me too... I enjoy the complexity of conflicted characters much more than fluffy and cute scenes.... I like the angst, jealousy, love/hate and forbidden love .... and lakorns do plenty of that... always w/ the male going crazy w/ love ;)
Nonetheless, I understand (but don't agree w/) comments claiming SB romanticizes abuse .... Slap/kiss in general, taken in the context of Thai culture, I am less judgmental ... and I understand that in reality, women should stay clear of men like Kawee... However, this is fantasyland!
Did u see my reply to ur comment on the second page, about Ken's other lakorns?
Since it is your first, have fun exploring.
i'm only at ep 3 and I don't know if I have the courage to keep it on... I watched 'Kleun Cheewit'…
Do NOT continue ... It's excellent, BUT the intensity and abuse is Shocking..... this is nothing like the lakorns you described .... This one is NOT for Every One!!!
Also, from ur Current watch list: NO to SSK ... writing and especially acting fail, guy comes across as just cruel, lacking the vulnerability and sympathy shown by Ken here in SB.
I think you will quite enjoy Duang Jai Akkanee ... it is a lot of fun! .. still has love/hate but more similar to your taste ... enjoy :)
Eng subs are now on YT. Playlist: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLVzCRMjUymv33zK44DftTpBUKp8F_T8_k EDIT:…
I've replied to your other comment, regarding other similar lakorns for writing & characters depth: LKMT 2000 ...
Also, my comment above lists some lakorns I recommend and why.
As for Soot Sanae Ha ... I have not seen it yet, heard many good things.
BUT, rom-coms are not always my taste.... I still plan on watching it sometime in the future.
I believe almost all of Ken&Anne's lakorns are by same writer and director ... I think Raeng Ngao, Oum Ruk, SSH, SB are by same team....
I like Raeng Ngao b/c it goes into depth and makes social comment ....
I do NOT much like Oum Ruk, typical rom-com ... only it's made better by Ken's charisma.:P

SB has a very tight script providing lots of insight into the characters and their psyche ... Acting from everyone is exceptional, w/ Ken being amazing in expressing the various conflicted emotions ... Every glance of his expressed lots of depth.
--->> Neung Nai Sueng (2005)
Good writing... good pace... funny banter ... a Rom-com, so different than serious feel of above..... Ken plays a childish bad-boy again (but no abuse like SB)... both similar as their pride makes them clumsy in expressing love... Neung&Boom, are childish yet fun!
--->> Luk Mai Klai Ton (2000)
Comes close in terms of Complex Conflicted Characters, Smart Writing, and Good Acting ...But the Feel is very different!
Both Sawan Biang & Luk Mai Klai Ton .... have a Realistic & Psychological Approach ....
Both deal w/ neglectful parents, feelings of abandonment for the leads and how their Traumatized Childhoods shaped their personalities.
Writing delved into the the psyche of these complex characters and gave logical and psychological explanations to their behavior ....
Both leads are eventually healed by love, and a smart, strong woman that forces the men to face reality and deal w/ the inner pain....
Leads in both SB & LMKT are conflicted and tortured , But are opposites:
Whereas Kawee in SB is like a storm, raging through every scene, causing destruction ... Chanon in LMKT is like peaceful waters that run very deep ...
Kawee is selfish and childish, doing anything for love and attention ... Chanon is mature and patient, sacrificing his love for the sake of responsibility.
Andrew gave an exceptionally nuanced performance as Chanon ... He and Kob were very good at emoting the deep conflicted emotions ...Couple in LMKT are realistic, mature, and very well matched - my fave in all of dramaland.
Writing in LMKT is not as tight as in SB ... It is rare when I see writing like SB, where every word is there for a reason...

I agree w/ several comments below.... I don't think these are melodramas, they are closer to the Romantic-Comedy or Romantic-Drama genres .....
They may have some elements of other genres, but not as a whole!
My favorite Melodrama is East of Eden:
Well written, well-developed characters, complex intertwined relationships, and intriguing plot!

Ananda is a very good actor, I hope he does well!...Can't wait!
Shut Up Flower Boy band ..... I liked it very much (despite your well-founded criticism) .... started out as typical school drama, but got better.
They may have some elements of other genres, but not as a whole!
My favorite Melodrama is East of Eden:
