I didn't make this chart, just translated it after finding it online .... I made one for myself on paper first, as I was writing the synopsis and trying to understand :P ... After the subbed trailer, it took almost a year for this to get subbed.

I didn't exactly rave about it, it has many weaknesses , LOL ....
The makjang and Intertwining relations of all characters is fun.... Hope u like it!!.
I liked the original, Ching Chang much more, but had to watch mostly raw :((

Ken's BEST performance w/ Aff's worst performance ever!!!
While Ken has saved this lakorn entirely on his own ... Aff could have easily taken it down entirely on her own.

Aff is not just bad, she is the worst kind of actor ... bad actors either Overact, seem unnatural... OR ... Underact, no facial expressions... BUT ... Aff is worse than that!!!
--->>> she either had the WRONG expression... OR ... CRIED incessantly to the point of extreme annoyance!!! .... All can be forgiven, except giving the Wrong expression which leads to misunderstanding the character and the scene!!!

Not is perfect as the second lead!... Vicky is also good, much better than FL.

As for the drama, a heart-wrenching story, very deep emotions ... the writing is a bit weak, I wish it had better scenarios as to why & how she went away, and why she returned , and why she chose to be w/ Doc .... they could be overlooked to enjoy Ken and his heart-ache.

NOTE: just rewatched w/ Eng subs ... My first impressions from 4 yrs ago is below in comments, but since back then I had watched w/ Spanish subs, I didn't understand half the dialogue .

I think his performance here is even better than in Sawan Biang, has more subtlety.
Too bad he was paired w/ Aff who gave her worst performance ever:((

I agree!!! Most interesting when both heroes & villains have some of each other's traits w/in them. They're complex, gray and often conflicted.
I also like the no-excuses villain, when not 1-Dimensional.... he/she may be conflicted, but he is what he is , and he does what he must w/ a laid back chill attitude: MiShil from Queen Seon Duk is such a great villain of this type.

The part about her making him doubt his brother or planning to run away w/ Jian Chi, aka Lian Ping, I did not understand since there are no subs .... In ep. 1-7 , Lian Kai asserted his confidence in his brother and she rejected Jian Chi 's return; only accepted that he help her support Lian Kai as leader to fulfill her mom's wish before leaving, she has not forgiven ....
In later episodes, it was obvious she admitted her love for Lian Kai .... I'll have to wait for the subs to see.

I like Lian Kai's complex personality, so far .... He is in emotional turmoil, due to his mom's tragedy, his dad's apathy for him and his unrequited love ... I haven't seen any violence from him yet.

We may have different tastes, I can see why some may find Lian Kai as a jerk..
Although, I don't understand why u think she's annoying, I completely understand why she is still repelling Lian Kai after 2 yrs of marriage...she has also accepted her fate, and supports him publicly.

I believe that's him ... I read an article about him when I first watched TLTSILY, and have since lost it, that's why I couldn't recall his name.... But I remember reading about him as 6th master, thus the censors' intervention ... I'll have to read more about him from other sources.

I just checked photos of him on google, he is very young ....By age of 21 he commanded an army as Major-General, took over for his father at 27 ... His English pronunciation is impressive!

It seems she is subbing at least 2 other dramas at same time, so progress is only 2 eps per week .... I want to put it on hold until subbing is done, but worried videos will not be available ...

Although it has finished airing, only 27 eps are released raw ...I'll have to check out Maple Stage if has more.

I understand ur confusion. At first I too didn't know who she was eating lamb with, or who was surrounding the mountain, or how they are friends yet enemies .......

When Pan Jian Chi first walked into the train compartment wearing the Murong army uniform, I thought it was Murong Feng ....
The first few episodes, I kept looking at the cast tab to compare faces and look up names, since it all got confusing .... and then I got it all cleared up later ....
I was frustrated they used actors w/ similar features and so many names.
watching raw does not work in this type of drama, large reliance on dialogue and little action most of the time.

Siege in Fog ... same feel of tension and passion b/w the couple , both MCs are smart and cool - Males are cunning, Females are calm and tough, not feisty or cute ... Relationship based on true attraction of similar personalities.
Romance focused, same novel author, Republican Era, and many small trope similarities ... also has Murong Feng in his younger days - he's called Liu Shao (sixth master) as the historical figure he is based on ....
In TLTSILY , he was renamed Si Shao (4th master) b/c Chinese Censors did not allow reference to actual historical figure.

I think episodes b/w 10 to 20 reveal bits of info , like how her mother forced her to marry, later the wedding night, and later how she first met him. ... not in chronological order, but it works just fine .

Impression so far: Up to Ep 7 subbed, and 27 raw .....
-- The 2 lead characters are very appealing and very much worth watching ... they are a perfect match; they respect each other and work well together , despite their pride....
I love both of their attitudes at this point, very refreshing compared to other portrayals of such forced marriages or hate/love.

-- I like that we start 2 yrs after they are married and their history unfolds bit by bit, in every episode, along w/ history of other characters... showed the tension at this stage.

-- Elvis Han , w/ his hot looks, crooked smile, and smoldering stares, is killing in his portrayal of Lian Kai's deep passionate love, tortured longing, hidden pain, cunning mind and mischievous playboy attitude.
-- Sun Yi's portrayal is refreshing and surprising===>> Thankfully she does not whine, pout, cower or pretend to be cute or feisty , HURRAY!!!!!
-- Qin Sang is just as cool as Lian Kai - calm and calculating, she has brains and knows how to use them.
** Honestly, this is the most appealing part ^__^ since so often Chinese female leads are annoyingly feisty, cute and stubborn **

The plot so far is good, but not living up to its potential!! especially in the brotherhood and political conflict part ... starting around ep 9 to about ep18, there is barely any action, so it may seem slow, since there are No Subs Yet... but action picks up after that.

P.S. I hate starting unfinished dramas, but I was too curious , since I've waited so long for this ... torturous waiting.
