I feel it hard to warm up to him since ep1. eventhough he is portrayed as kind heart, I found him somewhat hypocrite.
-acting like he is cool with it when Tsumugi said she saw Sou, but immediately searched Sou behind her back
-contacting Sou first, but said he doesnt want to meet him
-his friend is borderline ableist yet he said nothing
-he kept checking on Tsumugi about Sou but also the one who push her to get close to him. make me think if he is actually just testing her

yes, he is a good bf for Tsumugi but I feel like whatever he did about Sou's situation is just for his sake. and he put himself in this situation so I honestly dont feel bad about him

yes, I know about that. snow man is certainly not on arashi level yet since they r relatively quite new. but they have been the best seller for 2 consecutive year and broke many records so their public recognition level in japan should be quite alright. that is one of reasons why jdrama n kdrama often casting popular idols, their fans majority r young people and that's help a lot for pr move

thats why I said meme's popularity is useful for this drama at the beginning, but what really solidified its popularity is the quality of the drama itself

I wont say that he wasnt't well known. He is literally the most popular member from the best selling boyband in japan. So his popularity definitely help to boost the drama popularity at the beginning. Meme is already popular even before kieta hatsukoi.

But I agree that the quality of this drama itself that make this drama so well received, as I have explained in my prev post. And because of this drama many people acknowledge his acting skill

thought about ep2:

-finally Sou pov, I teared up when he apologize to his mom. I hope they'll show more his relationship with his family and how his illness affect them later
-the parallelism about fixing her bang and wearing a new skirt though. it's cute n heartbreaking that Tsumugi has always been excited to meet Sou
-lowkey annoyed that Tsumugi n Minato told everyone about Sou's condition, this is why he didnt't tell u in the first place lmao
-I want to slap Minato's friend when he said Tsumugi wont back to Sou bcus of his disability, but somehow this mindset about disabled person feels so real
-still cant understand Minato, first he eagerly searching and contacting Sou, then refused to meet him. but somehow suggesting Tsumugi to learn sign language. his conversation with his friend kinda make me think if he is testing Tsumugi
-so based on Tsumugi and Haruo's talk, Sou seems to chose to not to speak
-glad Sou and Tsumugi finally got the chance to talk about their unresolved relationship. love that the scene looks so natural and not overly dramatic or romantic. I bawled when Sou pointed to Tsumugi about the person he love, this drama really has a way with words
-next week looks messy, it'll be so awk when Sou realise that Minato is Tsumugi's bf and Tsumugi's little bro kinda irks me in the preview, hope he wont be a nosy character

Minato is a good boyfriend, but Tsumugi clearly hasn't moved on from Sou. I hope they handle it delicately, I really dont want a cheating plot. if it's intended that Tsumugi will be back with Sou it's better for the love triangle to end quickly, I prefer they show more about their effort to bridge their difference now since their common interest is gone

having meguro ren as a cast certainly help to make the drama popular. his fans r very active on socmed and everything about him is easily trending. the drama official acc already had more than 200k followers even before the first ep, way more than any drama starring a-list actors

but I must say that the quality of ep1 was the one that solidified the popularity of this drama. the last scene was going viral and attracted many general public to watch. so far the drama has been showered many praises because of great acting, beautiful dialogue, and detailed tidbits. as long as they maintain its quality, I am sure this drama will be one of the most successful drama this year

the trailer looks sooo good, kinda has rurouni kenshin vibe
it seems to have big budget so I hope they release it in my country, or at least on netflix worldwide

Yes, I am aware about those connection but the severity on each person is different. The show could make Sou to be still capable for speaking even with difficulty, but they definitely chose not to give greater impact for the last scene.

That's why I want more on Sou pov for next ep so the viewer can have better understanding on his struggle. Whether to not speaking is because of his choice or just simply because he isn't capable to

I like how they built up the story by weaving the past and present, it really gives more impact on the parallelism. love the tone and cinematography, it's so movie-like. the sound scoring is also top notch, the raw sound from hand signing and sobbing in the last scene is chefs kiss. that last scene truly destroyed me damn

I have a feeling that Sou deliberately only used sign language to make a point that they r in completely different world now. or maybe he suffered traumatic experience that made him stop speaking too. I hope ep2 will be on Sou pov, I am more interested to know his struggle from hearing loss
