I am surprise with Yayoi's back story. I thought she would be too-good-to-be-true character to the point it annoys me (e.g. Minato), but it seems that she easily accepted Umi as some sort of redemption for her past.
So far I like the pace of the story and no character peeves me yet. Mizuki's mother is so passive aggressive to Natsu, it's kinda sad yet funny. Love the interaction between Natsu and Umi the most, they are so cute and awkward. Silent's team seriously never misses
Finally watched Ep 1, and I genuinely like it. What I found the most interesting is how the ML is such a sly fox and willing to do anything to achieve his goal. Most success stories usually have a high morality ML who got cheated by the villain so it's refreshing to get ML like Haru.
I also love the dynamics between the characters. Eventhough Gaku is the one who deemed to be genius, Haru is actually the brain of the team. His plan is so out of pocket and make the story to be unpredictable. My fav interaction must be between Haru and Kirika, love how they flirt while bitching eo. Meguro and Mio's chemistry is much better than him with Haruna in Silent imo.
For the acting, I think all did a good job with their respective characters. I easily get cringe but so far none from them.
How Minato and Tsumugi broke up made no sense to me, I do understand why Minato made the choice but I didn't get…
Idk. I personally think it's very distasteful of her to admit that she loved minato like family after she announced to everyone that she loved him. Like if that really what she felt this whole time why she agreed to move in with him, it's kinda messed up tbh.
I still think tsumugi characterisation is a mess. Her whole behaviors screaming that she hasnt moved on from sou, like keeping all the stuff from him, reminiscing the memory about him, insisting to meet him etc. and yet the writer made her said to everyone n their mother that she loved minato, like give me a minute. If she really loved minato she would put his feeling above everything n wouldnt do any those shenanigans. I cant count how many times all these characters said that tsumugi has moved on from sou n she actually loved minato, but those scenes r useless n felt like just empty words tbh when all tsumugi did was the contrary with what everyone said.
I felt like the viewer would be more sympathetic to tsumugi if they actually show us her struggle on understanding of her own feeling. They should show us her confusion n shaken feeling after Sou's reappearance. Instead, they showed us tsumugi who was really sure about her feeling and yet managed to hurt both minato n sou at the same time.
How Minato and Tsumugi broke up made no sense to me, I do understand why Minato made the choice but I didn't get…
Ikr. I have said here many times that tsumugi is the least relatable character. her behavior about whatever conditions thrown to her was too ideal so it's hard to comprehend, but at the same time it ironically made her to be flicker minded lmao.
I personally think that the writer failed tsumugi characterisation, she didnt want to paint her as a cheater but end up butchering her characters. literally what tsumugi said didnt match with what she did, she unnecessary hurt both minato and sou but act so clueless about it. thankfully her character got better in the second half so I finally can cheer for her happiness.
It will be better if tsumugi confesses that she never move on from sou and asks to break up with minato before she hurt him any further. yes, she will be the 'bad guy', but all her behaviours at the beginning would make sense n the transition of her feeling from minato to sou will also flow nicely. I prefer a flawed character that I can root for rather than an idealistic character that hard to relate.
since there r some questioning why sou seems to be more comfortable with minato n doesnt have insecurities like when he is with tsumugi, I found a good read that may answer this:
"As for why it seems that Minato and Sou don’t have the same issue as what Sou has with Tsumugi when it comes to dealing with these differences, there was this notion mentioned earlier in the story about friends vs. lovers and family. With friends, the relationship is built more on the premise of enjoying each moment in the present and spending time together in a happy manner. However, when it comes to lovers and family, there is this extra angle of looking towards the future i.e. thinking about what is to come thus it’s not as straightforward or easy to deal with vs. a friendship.
Perhaps that is why Sou and Minato can be at ease with each other while the same assumption cannot be applied to Sou and Tsumugi because there are more considerations if they are to build a future together." credit to doramaworld from twitter
So well said! I couldn't have said it better. Now waiting for the last episode. Hope happy ending. Thank you!
if we do get happy ending, I think that 15mins will be filled with them being a domestic lover. we might not get them doing pda, but more about how they plan for their future n moving in together
So well said! I couldn't have said it better. Now waiting for the last episode. Hope happy ending. Thank you!
sorry, I cackled with the 2 options lol
since it's jdrama I dont think we get that dramatic scenes. If we get happy ending, I am sure that at least we get a scene where they stare lovingly under beautiful chrismast decorations. I dont think we get any kiss at this point lmao
Sou deliberately paused his music just to hear tsumugi called his name!!! like tsumugi who loves his voice, so does he but now he would never heard her voice again n cant even remember it. my heaaarrrtt aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
God, this drama really put me into different perspective. for other people sou's change seems only on physical level so it's easier for them to adjust to his new condition. but for sou, like he said, the change is just too big and it's unbearable for him when he realises what he has lost especially when it's only recently he started to accept his condition
I am still optimist we'll get happy ending, it's typical for jdrama to bring the highest climax near the end. I just hope that at least they give enough screen time for the happy occasion, like I really need it right now
Has Sou always had two sisters???? Or is that other girl the sister's friend? Because I swear I haven't seen her…
Hana has shown up a few time actually. The first time was in ep2 when Sou having dinner with his family n cant hear moe's call. I forget which ep but she also appeared briefly talking to their mom
am I missing something here? It seems like he speaks to his mother as a step mother based on the language he is…
eh, not sure what u dont understand here.
At the early scenes, Sou thought that he'll just be burden n no one can help him so he tried to push everyone, including his family. He still cant accept his condition yet that's why he was easily triggered. Only after he finally make a peace with himself he finally can interact normally with his family like he used to
I am new to Japanese dramas (this is my first one). I have two comments so far, would love if someone can bring…
I'll try to answer ur question here:
1. I am not expert on Japanese culture but from my observation by watching some jdramas they mostly show family love in more subtle way. In family they dont usually say I love u or offer physical touch but more of the feeling that "I'll be there if u need me". For why Sou didnt kiss Tsumugi is because simply they dont date yet. I think we r used to the western romance where a kiss is usually depict as confirmation of love no matter the status is but in some jdrama characters kiss only when they date eo
2. For minato, he insisted to break up to free himself. Like what he said that he always worry what will happen when Sou shows up. Eventhough tsumugi tried to reassure him that she love him, he cant help to think that one day tsumugi will change of heart n choose Sou. So it's like living with tickling bomb n he decided to defuse it by breaking up rather than waiting for it to blew up. Not to mention that tsumugi is the only one who is comfortable with this relationship as minato always cater to her need n preference so their relationship will be doom anyway with or without Sou.
Tsumugi meets Sou regularly is simply because she wants to. It's clear that she always want to meet n talk to Sou despite still in rs with minato. I think she always keep her feeling for Sou deep inside her heart n unconciously always want to be with him. As she wanted to be loyal gf for minato, she convinced herself that she just want to be friend with Sou. Thats why she cried after she told Sou that she dont love him anymore, because deep down she knew she lied to herself.
For tsumugi, she did have a guilt n didnt want to meet Sou for a while, remember? only after she cleared up her feeling with minato n realised that her love for minato is more like family love then she decided to meet Sou
Meguro Ren better win big awards because he’s killing it every time the center stage is on Sou. I only cry whenever…
Agree, he really is the one who hard carried the chemistry. He doesnt need to say anything and yet just by his look we knew about his feeling about tsumugi. I am not sure what's wrong but haruna seems lacking to show love on both sou n minato. Like I only knew about her feeling only after she said it by herself
I am really surprised by how wide meguro expression range is. To this point, he has shown us so many sides from kicked puppy to mischievous boy. I hope he get many offers after this, he is talented as heck. To be able to act is one thing but to be able to do it well without speaking is definitely on another level
I started episode 1 but she's already in a relationship. I hate it when dramas do this because it's usually just…
They broke up at the end of ep4. Ep5 is mainly dedicated for handling the break up n there is no infidelity here. If u come here for the romance u may dissapointed as romance part is not well developed. This drama is more about humanity n life lesson or slice of life kinda thing
Gah, ep9 is definitely my fav ep. Family love is always the one that got me. Sakura siblings r so cute together, I hope they will show their interaction again in the upcoming eps. I am so proud of Sou, he finally faced his own demons
Honestly they should invest more on how Sou's family handling his condition rather than the multiple love triangles. It will be far more interesting n actually serve as a foundation for the main plot. The multiple love triangles were so redundant n kinda devalued the relationship development of the main characters.
It's a pity we only got one ep focus on Sou's family. They tried to condense his background so much it kinda make me lose sense of time since they jump from scene to scene without any clear indication how many years passed

but let's be real here, the romance part is not well developed in this drama so might as well not to be that attached to it
I want him to play in romantic comedy drama next. I need serotonin boost after the pain he gave me here lol
