Oh my gosh! I can't believe I never connected the dots that it was Nie Huaisang behind the curtain in that first scene. The fan should have been a dead giveaway. Even while I was rewatching the series, I was wondering who was the person behind the curtain! I always thought it may just be an unanswered question.

It is getting a bit hard to keep track of what is fanon and canon at this point haha. There is just so much MDZS content out there and I feel so compelled to consume as much of it as I can haha

I'd say, if you started on Netflix stick to Netflix since it will help keep consistency with the translations. The only reason I had to switch over to YouTube is because my Netflix account is shared and kept getting over the stream limit haha. Personally I had preferred the Netflix subtitles over the YouTube ones.

I think I have finally hit a drama that I cant let go off. It really has been a while since I have watched something that has impacted me on such a deep level that it has basically taken over my waking thoughts - and has made me commit to reading a 1000+ page novel because I simply cannot let it go. Honestly, if I could erase The Untamed from my memory, I would do so in a heartbeat, just to be able to experience it for the first time again.

Perhaps it is simply a case of the drama not being appealing to you personally. I mean, at the end of the day it all boils down to personal preference. While I was absolutely blown away by The Untamed, I would not expect this to be the case for everyone. Equally, there are several highly rated dramas/shows out there that I did not enjoy

Jin Guangyao is the main antagonist of the series. nie huaisang is the one who instigated the whole "exposition" of him. In the novel it is nie huaisang that tells mo xuanyu about the ritual to summon WWX's spirit thus beginning the whole series of events leading to Jin Guangyao being exposed at the end.

The only difference may be in the subtitles. I can't say for sure. It is available on youtube as well on Tencent's youtube channel - again with the only difference I'd imagine - being in the subs
