yes, I'm still hoping that more parts of the BL industry & fandoms realize that vers ships open up so much…
I honestly haven't watched that many BLs yet, so all I can think of atm:

Pond Ponlawit doesn't have a fixed partner so e.g. he's top in Fourever You and bottom in Reset
similar Boom Raveewit switched between his shows Chains of Heart and Top Form (T_T)
PorTeeTeePor from Domundi are officially a verse ship, from what I understand they switch between the shows Your Sky and Duang With You (I'm not caught up)

The show Every You, Every Me had the same actors exploring different stories with different dynamics ^^ (if I remember correctly)

Mentioned vers, but not fully explored in NC scene was Jack & Joker
Implied vers to my POV The Bangkok Boy and maybe 2nd couple CharnJet from Khemjira (Firstone would agree with me, but Tle wouldn't lol)

ABO Desire went against the stereotype a bit considering the top is pretending to be a helpless omega in public lol

power Bottoms I can think of atm: The Wicked Game, Bed Friend, Kiseki Dear to me, The Heart Killers, Battle Of The Writers (at parts)
FortPeat have some of that sprinkled into their shows

ik ths sounds weird & rude but joong got tht POWER BOTTOM ENERGY
yes, I'm still hoping that more parts of the BL industry & fandoms realize that vers ships open up so much more opportunities for stories & charas ^^

random ramble: and personally I headcanon Fadel/Style & Jade/Kamin as vers anyway haha... it's honestly often weird for me as a queer person growing up with ships that weren't canon to begin with (so everyone just shipped them in whatever way they preferred) that parts of BL fandoms will try to police you on bottom/top, when that's simply an intimate position, not the personality-type-quiz some try to make it ^^ (of course there are individual differences for IRL couples, if someone wants to be top or bottom only etc)

It feels like they tried to force the romance part in the middle of Chaos that's what made this series out of…
yes, this isn't about which couple executes it differently, when the weakpoint is the script & pacing ^^

êp 7: I sadly have mixed feelings about the show so far. I was SOOO looking forward to a JoongDunk show and esp one that had them in such a mature setting of police work while still giving us fun chara traits ...and it's not like the show is really bad, but it also falls a bit flat in the development and esp this epi felt like a whole lot of nothing to me, even tho we had a death ^^
it feels like there's no urgency in anything, even tho people are dying left & right...

We don't rlly get to see what Champ & Chereen are up to, maybe at least trying something to get out of their situations...feels like they're doing as much as Jay lying in a hospital bed the whole epi...
And while Jade/Kamin taking a break from the case could theoretically be a cute moment, it just feels like there's not much tension & urgency to begin with... if they'd at least started to give us some glimpse of the things Kamin worries about, so we'd get at least some chara depth this epi, but I don't feel like I know them better than e.g. 3 epis ago...

I know they're trying to keep a lot of vague vibes & 'who's the killer'-guess work going, but the pacing feels off and the show doesn't manage to have me fully engaged, let alone on the edge of my seat... I'd hoped they give us more than 'cute BL couple cosplaying detectives' ^^
I rlly hope they can bring my enthusiasm for this show back in the last few epis, cause I had liked the start of the show ^^

That’s what makes it so hard to believe. They weren’t nearly close enough for his death to realistically have…
I absolutely agree with you on the overall 'this plot is stupid' aspect, I just wanted to add a perspective of: they don't need to be close to Don for his death to act as catalyst.
It's not that they personally need a close bond & to grief him for Akin to get his sh*t together, they just used it as wake-up call that life can end at any time, so better to not leave things unsaid.
Yes Don was simply a client, but he was a recurring factor in Akin's life and probably already the next meeting scheduled and then 'bamm he's dead' and they also realize that Pond lost the person he loved before he could resolve their issues.

But while I get they used it for Akin's reality check, I just hate that besides taking PondDon away from us it also shows how little motivation Akin has on his own:
all these years ago he decided to simply leave without any discussion with Than and even now after meeting Than again and being confronted & asked for an explanation he still chose to do nothing until they gave us a death?!
would Akin just have continued this avoidance for another 5 years otherwise?! ridic

sorry for the reant, this epi still annoys me haha

I haven't found anyone saying this (maybe I missed the comment), what people are saying is that Don's death was used as cheap plot devise just to get Akin & Than back together, since it gave a 'life could end anytime, so resolve issues/say I love you' urgency ^^

I skipped the second couple, they always were just banging anyway, so I don't care about this death. I still think…
I mean if you skipped them then yes you obv missed their relationship development lol

the writing has reached soap opera level to me personally in ep 8 and I'll only continue cause 2 more eps I can…
so just my POV

1) dragged out misunderstandings that could've been resolved with a 5 min conversation/ a photograph are one of my personal pet-peeves so I admit that the main couple wasn't the most appealing plot to me ^^
BUT the writing just made it so much worse:
their whole plot revolved around this misunderstanding with nothing but the back & forth of Than trying to get back together and Akin being stuck on his POV of the situation...

so when it FINALLY came to the resolution it felt underwhelming:
they're STILL not having a proper discussionabout their past/current relationship & what it meant for them that for YEARS they were stuck on a perceived cheating misunderstanding, instead everything got swept under the rug with Than's 'everything is fine now' attitude....

2) PondDon were what kept me tuning in cause they were a fun mix of messy & we Know they could fall madly in love and make each others' life better & happier...
so to lose them as a mere plot-point of 'act on your love before it's too late' for the main couple's sake was just unbelievable to me lol...like I was srsly detached from Pond's grief throughout the epi, cause I just couldn't believe the writers would pull such a dumb stunt for shock-value...

3) to the mentioned NC critique I think it's a loss that the crew/director/whoever choreographed it had sadly no idea how to shoot a decent NC scene imho, while the actors were actually comfortable with each other and willing to give their all in the scenes ^^

e.g. Just ONE cut-change to a different position would make it look like a bit of time had passed, instead of them just being in 1 position and then seemingly finishing after 15 sec...
also the camera-angles weren't well chosen at points and just made it obv that nothing is happening (it's the director's/camera-crew's job to create the illusion of a scene, so come on pls!)
(e.g. the PondDon dessert scene had a good build up & intimacy, but then they went back to 1 position & 15 sec with a camera angle that was slightly off ^^)
sorry I just couldn't take it srsly that they wanted to make this a spicy show but had no clue how to create a lingering & sensual intimate scene (and yes quickies are ok, but if all scenes are like this it's just silly)

the actors deserved better tho!!!
tastes are different, so if some people like the plot then great, but for me it's a show that could've been interesting if it had good writing (and a crew/director that knew how to film NC scenes lol)
I just want to get some thoughts out so spoilers below:

Ahhhhhh I should've waited to binge-watch this, it's so good!!!!
I love how everything is unfolding so far, it's intriguing and emotionally high stakes...so invested but now it's a waiting game for the rest of the epis ^^

I get you want more action/story/motion whatever you want to call it, but I think it the fl pov was the most stable…
I didn't want more 'action' I wanted the show to actually care about the charas ^^ They threw major life alternating decisions at 2 main charas and gave us Nothing about their development after we had spent years with these charas ...so yes if you want to call that 'easier screen play' then it's one of the many reasons I dropped this show, we all have different tastes and enjoy different things ^^

I really enjoyed this drama!
Tastes are different, but I loved the many layers, slow unfolding of the relationship +schemes and honestly would've liked to go even deeper, but I understand that they couldn't dig too deep into every chara since they couldn't give away some of the twists haha + it was a large ensemble cast (so some charas stayed a bit flat sadly).
It was a good mix of exploring religious & political POVs incl radicalism, the different responses to trauma + resentment, personal convictions, prejudice + selfish desires, friendships and love in different forms.
It started out with some comedic aspects while the last part is hitting The Feels
The antagonists moved sometimes in very realistic ways we also see used in politics + public persuasion tactics and honestly made my blood boil sometimes lol

Can someone please give me a spoiler to the lamp weapon spirit (Fu Jiuyun) we were introduced to in Yandu but then I can't remember seeing him again? Did I miss a scene or was his chara only relevant in the novel in a way we didn't see in the drama? I mean yes he shared info with her in the drama, but I was just expecting to see him again considering he's one of her weapon spirits ^^

I loved this drama!! (tho to me the ending only redeemed itself by the last few sentences and I was crying lol)
I binge watched it and really didn't want to stop when the story got into a good flow after the first few epis.
It's a nice mix of comedic family drama, cozyness and political intrigue, the actors did great all around :)

I'm only a few epis in (ep 6) but it's really enjoyable so far :)
the main leads got me hooked since ep 1, the charas come across as very natural & grounded while having an adorkable charm in dealing with their situation and adapting to everything as best as they can (whether this means trying to break apart the marriage or later working together) ^^

The actors are well chosen for the role:
of course if families would be forced to hide their children's gender they can't bet on them growing into adults that can represent that fake role well ( e.g. concerning body proportions etc), but it def helps that the chosen actors' height difference isn't too extreme & their faces are androgynous enough to make it believable their families could get away with this deceit for years ^^

I also like the details in the different 'gender expression' each chara has, e.g.:
Rui Yu even hides her true identity from her sister in law at home, so she's living as man 99% of the time and therefore has the body language etc of the 'frail scholarly gentelman' internalized...
Whereas Nan Chenxiao as 'daughter' of a military family is more hidden away from the public & sneaks out as man when he can, so e.g. his fast paced walk is def not 'ladylike' but he gets away with it by having built a reputation as 'fierce general's daughter' haha (but damn does his face look beautiful framed with some lose hair & styled with beautiful hairpins :3)

It's also refreshing that their immediate families are supportive people, we'll see how long that lightheartedness will last with the political schemes brewing on the horizon ^^
(pls do Not reply spoilers, thanks)

Review Khemjira
random comment: they had their last filming day (Q66) on 3rd October 2025 for Khemjira, so Idk if you'd call that 'filmed before TNP' ^^
(but Ig they filmed for ages, Q1 was in November 2024 ^^)
