as far as i saw from the youtube leaks, they are following the book. I recognized a lot of scenes from the book (the fight with miaolou, the ice coffin scene etc), so i think they followed the book with some minor changes, like foolishp said. one of the changes will be regarding the mortal real arc for sure.
I hope this will come out soon and I don't have to wait until December like it says on here :(
Hmm..i think we will have to wait until last quarter of the year. The earliest release date will be september i believe. Look, in the case of Ashes of Love, the drama finished filming in octomber 2017, entered post-production, then was released in august 2018. considering that Pillow Book has a lot of GCI (like AOL) and that it finished filming in november 2018, we can expect a release date around september, or even later. this is just a supposition, anyway, but let's hope we will not need to wait so much :)

the drama has very high expectations, because it's expected to be on the same level as TMOPB, that's why the big fuss. i believe that since it will a web drama, they found an available spot only towards the end of the year. idk what to say about this...usually web dramas have a lower budget than TV airred dramas, so the quality it's a bit lacking. hope it will not be the case here.

You are right, i also checked and they changed the number of episodes to 58. Be prepared to see a lot of fillers just for the sake of getting more money, like in the case of Ashes of love. Suddenly i am not so much looking forward to this drama :(

my advice for you is to read the book completely, then you will understand the whole Aranya thing. I admit, when I first read the book, I found the Aranya dream arc boring, but at the end of the arc everything is explained and it's such a beautiful and emotional story. so, be patient and read the whole novel. it's worth it.
