Title Unchained Love Spoiler
It sounded like a drama I should love. But I started fast forwarding in ep17 and dropped in ep20 then just watched…
" I just can't see why ML fell hard for her, it's not believable for some reason." - same, and so early on too!

Dropped, from the reviews of where the story goes and also the messed up editing it's not worth watching. And I'm not just saying it's cause of the censorship, it feels like the pacing is all over the place in the first 7 eps. And then the thing with beauty Li ....just not worth the messy watch.

Really wanted to like this for Dylan- hope he gets better editors/directors/writers for his next project.

Title Meet Yourself Spoiler
And Granny Xie saved the beauty in despair... GREAT HEROINAnd Grandpa Yang came to protect the beauty in dispair...…
I really like that instead of the ML saving FL they had GRANNY save the FL. Like such a wonderful way to not do the damsel in distress thing! (And Yao has the white stallion horse to ride in on too!)

I have to say C-Drama killed it in 2022 with LBFAD, NLB, A Dream of Splendor, Love like the Galaxy etc. With this as the big Cdrama at the start of the year I hope they only get better from here on!

"Dark clouds are temporary since there will always be wind"

This was such a breath of fresh air. It was one of the most healing dramas I watched recently. So beautifully shot and written. To some it might be a bit slow, so go in with the knowledge this is a drama that is meant the transport you to a different way of life. A slower paced life.

The main leads are amazing, have great chemistry and everyone else in the village are brilliant as well (esp the kids, who seriously turned out to be my favourite side characters). The kids deserve their own special directors cut, that's how cute and good their side arc was. This is a drama to pick up when you are tired with life, one you can binge or devour slowly and get the same warm healing feeling.

Whilst there were some stories I wish they had shortened (Mr Ma's and Hu's). There is also some non-sequitur dialogue that didn't always make sense and I would have edited out. But overall I enjoyed almost all moments of this drama, which is rare for something that is 40 eps AND the romance kicks in only at the third act. I adored the interactions between the females, old and young and loved Grandma. It's a kind of drama that makes you believe there are so many good people out in the world and still so much good to see.

To top it off, Zhi Yao is now the new standard of men. Never pressuring or demanding, just gently being there. And more importantly his line "if I have the ability to help someone then I should". Just a reminder of what kind of quality we should look for in a world of glorified bossy CEOs (which has it's own fun place in fantasy but not irl). He is the embodiment of kindness yet not a pushover and not flawless.

The way he would steal glances at Dou was EVERYTHING.

Also hats off to Crystal, every single time she teared up in this drama I inevitably would have tears rolling down my face. Her and Janice's interactions, although shown so briefly, was so touching I would feel choked up at the thought of living without my besties. It was so subtly done and an amazing display of genuine acting. I only wish Janice had a few more scenes to show their friendship more in their college years, but her role was just a cameo so happy with what we got.

I could go on and on because there are so many little stories in this series, and each one interesting in its own way. It's full of insightful quotes about struggling through life, fighting for yourself and even filial piety. You really feel so immersed in the village community, like you are part of them. It's so immersive, esp as someone who works in Tourism, and Dou's Homestay has always been my dream. Watching the struggles of trying to develop a small village into a tourist town but sustainable was so real. Although Dou has wayyy more patience than I do for rude people.

All in all, you MUST start your year with this C-drama. That's how wonderful it is.

could you give me better college romance dramas than this one please?
Off the top of my head:
Kdrama:
- Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo (AMAZING Kdrama if you haven't seen it already)
- the Reply series (more based in Highschool but my fav is Reply 1997)

Cdramas:
- Lighter & Princess (Highly recommend this one too)
- Put your head on my shoulder (old so a bit of a toxic romance here)
- Skate into love (really good)
- Perfect & Casual
- Accidentally in love (really cute and funny)
- Hello Sharpshooter
- To Fly with you (really liked this one)
- My Unicorn Girl

Jdrama:
- the Nodame series (if you are into classical music and wacky comedy this is amazing).

The first Filipino movie I have watched and ofc it's super dated now but the acting was pretty good! Super cringe and cliched but in a good way. Enjoyed it and a good take on bad boy/good girl/started with a bet trope.

Title Hi Venus
I don't like dropping dramas so I'm just going through it but I've been skipping a lot. It did get interesting…
Same, I liked the characters well enough after a bit even though the FL was a bit weirdly written but everything seemed so bland.

They just mutate back into a tree together? I wish people wouldn't have put that as a happy ending when replying…
I'm glad! I was quite irritated by how much time I wasted!

Not gonna bother with you after this but this forum isn't for childish fights like this. Please learn to respect other people's opinions. Grow up.

Anyone knows if there is a weibo or any blog that post pictures of the outfits? This show has so many crochet…
Same! I love the FL's style in this. I want to know where she got her long 'jacket'-type clothes she wears!

Ok, but the child actors of this drama are incredibly adorable, and are actually very good actors. I love them…
Probably the best child actors I have seen. Have to give credit to the director- how did they push them to act like that!

right, and one thing that especially offends me are the very very nice clothes lol. In most high-budget dramas…
HAHAHA! Yesssss that is so true! It's like how bad movies are known to have the best soundtracks in Hollywood.

If you go in with very very low expectations (like I did), you might find this an okay watch. Despite the OTT acting and plot loopholes I still liked this more than some of the other c-dramas trending right now. The last 4 eps were a mess (it didn't help the subs weren't great) but overall the 'toxic' romance is well portrayed here and the actors have good chemistry.

The story is engaging even though you feel like the writer skipped a few important steps in the storytelling. The plot is a little all over the place but in a way you would expect it to be from something so "makjang" like. The 2nd couple romance is completely skippable although I liked the 2 male sidekicks.

The OST is great though! One thing the main leads were good at were acting like a natural couple on screen once they are together, they really "fit" into each other and the ML tones down a lot from the start.

An okay watch if you have nothing else to do. But throw logic and understanding out the window.

"Just a slow speaking slow moving mean man." YES! I didn't like watching him at all because he spoke so slowly.
ikr! he was an odd casting choice. He wasn't bad per say but maybe one of the weakest villains I have seen, esp since the protagonist was such a strong actor.

A sweet drama which was heavily carried by the ML. Whilst the romance and story of the drama is really good, I think Young Dae really did a lot of heavy lifting in this series when it should have been the FL's job since she had the more interesting character. I liked her but she was too low energy for a character like this- and quite different from what I imagined from the manhwa. I think she was too 'soft' for this role. This role required an FL that could go all out with her expressions and tone which Ju Hyun couldn't.

The people who acted as the villains didn't really stand out to me much except for Lady Seo. She was horrible and the only one who acted as such. The minister of War was miscast, whilst he was disrespectful I didn't feel bad guy energy from him. Just a slow speaking slow moving mean man.

However the overall story, development of romance and chemistry between the leads is still good and overall it's just a nice drama to watch. You can enjoy it with that warm rom-com comfort that these kind of dramas bring. Plus Young Dae was really great in this, I look forward to his next role!
