Or just called having a different opinion from others? I'm not even a big fan of Young Dae having only watched 2 of his recent dramas...but keep projecting.... LOL
At ep 12 and i just want to say...OMG I LOVE THE KIDS, the 4 kids are the best cutest thing about this series (and there's a lot to love) but these kidsssssss! <3
If you go in with very very low expectations (like I did), you might find this an okay watch. Despite the OTT acting and plot loopholes I still liked this more than some of the other c-dramas trending right now. The last 4 eps were a mess (it didn't help the subs weren't great) but overall the 'toxic' romance is well portrayed here and the actors have good chemistry.
The story is engaging even though you feel like the writer skipped a few important steps in the storytelling. The plot is a little all over the place but in a way you would expect it to be from something so "makjang" like. The 2nd couple romance is completely skippable although I liked the 2 male sidekicks.
The OST is great though! One thing the main leads were good at were acting like a natural couple on screen once they are together, they really "fit" into each other and the ML tones down a lot from the start.
An okay watch if you have nothing else to do. But throw logic and understanding out the window.
"Just a slow speaking slow moving mean man." YES! I didn't like watching him at all because he spoke so slowly.
ikr! he was an odd casting choice. He wasn't bad per say but maybe one of the weakest villains I have seen, esp since the protagonist was such a strong actor.
A sweet drama which was heavily carried by the ML. Whilst the romance and story of the drama is really good, I think Young Dae really did a lot of heavy lifting in this series when it should have been the FL's job since she had the more interesting character. I liked her but she was too low energy for a character like this- and quite different from what I imagined from the manhwa. I think she was too 'soft' for this role. This role required an FL that could go all out with her expressions and tone which Ju Hyun couldn't.
The people who acted as the villains didn't really stand out to me much except for Lady Seo. She was horrible and the only one who acted as such. The minister of War was miscast, whilst he was disrespectful I didn't feel bad guy energy from him. Just a slow speaking slow moving mean man.
However the overall story, development of romance and chemistry between the leads is still good and overall it's just a nice drama to watch. You can enjoy it with that warm rom-com comfort that these kind of dramas bring. Plus Young Dae was really great in this, I look forward to his next role!
Good call on dropping it. I hung around for the ML only since I thought he was adorable, but I didn't understand…
Good to know! I was starting to wonder did I miss something amongst the glowing comments (which fair, everyone likes what they like!). But it's good to know I didn't miss anything. I watched an MV of the couple to see if anything exciting happens later on but really it just proved that they story remained bland. I was so disappointed in the banter, esp since like you, I could see a lot of potential in the ML.
Dropped at ep 16. I guess this could be a feel good drama but it feels like nothing is happening and it's very bland. I think the first 2 eps really didn't sit well with me and I couldn't shake it off for the rest of the series. I even put it on hold, tried to come back to it but it's just so boring.
They really messed up the way they introduced the FL. She gets mad for no reason in the first 2 eps. Her character has the most bizarre logic and is mean to the ML for absolutely no reason - and he finds that charming? Sorry but the set up was so weird that even when they got together I couldn't feel the chemistry. Then there's the fact that there's absolutely no substance to the story- legit nothing is happening except a small business fight in the background that even the writer doesn't seem to care about.
Weirdly written, and the music editing is strange too. Acting is decent however doesn't make up for the bland script and the really boring banter between the leads.
IKR? Even your comment didn't prepare me for what ended up happening. This is more like the horrifying reality…
SAME! I was waiting for the big reveal, like he dies but then you find out none of that was real! But you know what, for what it was it was bold of them show - look guys this what a relationship with a toxic male lead is ACTUALLY like!
The way this took a 180 turn half way through is crazy. Not saying it was bad I just didn’t expect it to go…
IKR? Even your comment didn't prepare me for what ended up happening. This is more like the horrifying reality of what a toxic male lead "romance" is actually like.
Umm.... This is not what I thought it was going to be. If you are looking for fluff this isn't it. It's interesting for sure but this has zero romance.
Some of y’all are so annoying. Firstly, I wanna say Naksu has lived her entire life as an assassin. She has…
100% This is exactly the same thoughts I had when watching this. It's not even that I was bothered with the change - to me it's that it made the drama even better and everything extra special. When I first heard of the decision I was realllly skeptical but after finishing part 2 I can completely understand why that decision was made. It makes the most sense.
Great story telling. I know the Hong sisters always start off strong but their endings are weak but they really had this one thought through. You can tell everyone involved really wanted to make something spectacular when they started this drama. From the story to the acting to the cgi and ost, everything was stellar. And most importantly (SPOILER) they pulled off something I never ever thought they could....a complete actor change. I thought this is never going to work when I first heard of it, and 5 mins into part 2 I had completely been immersed as if it was the most natural course of action.
The leads had great chemistry, hats off to Lee Jae Wook for managing to pull that off with two different FLs. But also to both FL's - despite having vastly different personalities they still seemingly managed to effortlessly make it so you could feel you were watching the same character. This is the first time I have actually liked So Min in her role - she really was great as the haughty master who softens up over time. I have never liked her characters in her previous roles but here she shined. And Go Youn Jung was brilliant as slightly foolish but determined lead. She has great comedic timing and man she's beautiful.
Alllllll the secondary characters were so good and really made this drama. Even though there were one too many filler parts, I didn't want to skip them because they all acted so well. I love the bromance between the three besties, Lord Jin and Lady Kim's frustrating but adorable romance and even the acting by the multitude of evil characters. One of the break outs from me in this was the actress that played So-i. I have seen her in mostly comedic roles before but she was something else in this, and even though you hated her, you really felt for her too.
The direction, cinematography, ost and cgi were all great. Although I preferred the song for Yul and Mu-Deok more than what the leads had, overall the music is great.
This is one of the few dramas I insisted to watch on a big TV screen instead of a laptop where I normally watch because of the impact of the story and visuals. That alone is enough to say how much I recommend this series to anyone.
Cute, first half was good and fun to watch. Second half was a little draggy and anti climatic. Didn't care for the time wasted on the pointless love triangle and actors seem new so need a lot more work esp in emotional scenes. But the characters were more fleshed out than most short web series so not a bad watch.
