This was actually pretty good, I'm surprised I didn't hear of it when it was airing. Did they do too little marketing for it?
First half was more fun and unique than the second half. It was really hilarious and the leads have amazing chemistry and comedic timing. Esp the FL and her duality is amazing. I even thought the antagonist acted so well, esp in the last episode. I wish they had kept more of the first half uniqueness for longer (although I could do without all the toilet humour >.<).
Overall recommend to watch this for a fun time with very good acting from all the cast.
This was actually really good! I loved it although the actors were a little awkward once they confessed and the interactions seemed forced, towards the end they were really believable. Both the leads individually have acted really well and the set design was so pretty. I hope they get around to making a season 2 of this.
Oh and for once the FL dressed up as a man was really believable. They really casted well!
Dropped, from the reviews of where the story goes and also the messed up editing it's not worth watching. And I'm not just saying it's cause of the censorship, it feels like the pacing is all over the place in the first 7 eps. And then the thing with beauty Li ....just not worth the messy watch.
Really wanted to like this for Dylan- hope he gets better editors/directors/writers for his next project.
And Granny Xie saved the beauty in despair... GREAT HEROINAnd Grandpa Yang came to protect the beauty in dispair...…
I really like that instead of the ML saving FL they had GRANNY save the FL. Like such a wonderful way to not do the damsel in distress thing! (And Yao has the white stallion horse to ride in on too!)
I have to say C-Drama killed it in 2022 with LBFAD, NLB, A Dream of Splendor, Love like the Galaxy etc. With this as the big Cdrama at the start of the year I hope they only get better from here on!

This was such a breath of fresh air. It was one of the most healing dramas I watched recently. So beautifully shot and written. To some it might be a bit slow, so go in with the knowledge this is a drama that is meant the transport you to a different way of life. A slower paced life.
The main leads are amazing, have great chemistry and everyone else in the village are brilliant as well (esp the kids, who seriously turned out to be my favourite side characters). The kids deserve their own special directors cut, that's how cute and good their side arc was. This is a drama to pick up when you are tired with life, one you can binge or devour slowly and get the same warm healing feeling.
Whilst there were some stories I wish they had shortened (Mr Ma's and Hu's). There is also some non-sequitur dialogue that didn't always make sense and I would have edited out. But overall I enjoyed almost all moments of this drama, which is rare for something that is 40 eps AND the romance kicks in only at the third act. I adored the interactions between the females, old and young and loved Grandma. It's a kind of drama that makes you believe there are so many good people out in the world and still so much good to see.
To top it off, Zhi Yao is now the new standard of men. Never pressuring or demanding, just gently being there. And more importantly his line "if I have the ability to help someone then I should". Just a reminder of what kind of quality we should look for in a world of glorified bossy CEOs (which has it's own fun place in fantasy but not irl). He is the embodiment of kindness yet not a pushover and not flawless.
The way he would steal glances at Dou was EVERYTHING.
Also hats off to Crystal, every single time she teared up in this drama I inevitably would have tears rolling down my face. Her and Janice's interactions, although shown so briefly, was so touching I would feel choked up at the thought of living without my besties. It was so subtly done and an amazing display of genuine acting. I only wish Janice had a few more scenes to show their friendship more in their college years, but her role was just a cameo so happy with what we got.
I could go on and on because there are so many little stories in this series, and each one interesting in its own way. It's full of insightful quotes about struggling through life, fighting for yourself and even filial piety. You really feel so immersed in the village community, like you are part of them. It's so immersive, esp as someone who works in Tourism, and Dou's Homestay has always been my dream. Watching the struggles of trying to develop a small village into a tourist town but sustainable was so real. Although Dou has wayyy more patience than I do for rude people.
All in all, you MUST start your year with this C-drama. That's how wonderful it is.
could you give me better college romance dramas than this one please?
Off the top of my head: Kdrama: - Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo (AMAZING Kdrama if you haven't seen it already) - the Reply series (more based in Highschool but my fav is Reply 1997)
Cdramas: - Lighter & Princess (Highly recommend this one too) - Put your head on my shoulder (old so a bit of a toxic romance here) - Skate into love (really good) - Perfect & Casual - Accidentally in love (really cute and funny) - Hello Sharpshooter - To Fly with you (really liked this one) - My Unicorn Girl
Jdrama: - the Nodame series (if you are into classical music and wacky comedy this is amazing).
The first Filipino movie I have watched and ofc it's super dated now but the acting was pretty good! Super cringe and cliched but in a good way. Enjoyed it and a good take on bad boy/good girl/started with a bet trope.
