The beginning was a bit repetitive but once few characters joined in that's where the fun begins, my dumb brain almost explode once those layers of TV happen lol. This is sci-fi but also a thriller so I especially like how they did the ending, the movie has so much energy and it's only at the end where the movie catch its breath.
I don't know what's with Japan's fascination towards this one long take, I've seen around 4 movies that have this concept, but I don't think this is real one take there's probably magic editing that happen but it still long scenes and probably harder to execute since they need to time it, 2 minutes to be exact. I just wished this movie is profitable or if not maybe in the future I just hope that people behind indie projects like this will find their success, passion for filmmaking at its best.
Ryoko, Go and Ryusei I do know that they are good actors but Yoshioka Hidetaka, he’s such a surprise. Where…
99% of veteran actors are great that is true in any country. Terajima is also here, Santamaria, fukikoshi mitsuru etc. Japan never short of great supporting veteran actors. They mostly never go mainstream just supporting roles but anyone who watch alot of japanese festival films know them, Hidetaka is known for "Always: Sunset on Third Street" trilogy, Terajima Caterpillar, Mitsuru Cold Fish just few examples.
That ending is some of the weirdest sh*t I've seen in a Jdrama but also satisfying even it leaves more questions than answer. I guess another season depends on its ratings. It's so weird that I forgot it's a buddy cop drama.
I don't think it's meant to be a criticism to Japan's current film industry nor the movie just an ordinary romance teen story, it's simply a love letter to filmmaking that's all. I just wished the director push for 2 hours for more development but that could be the point. "Movies connect present with past thru big screen" this is so true, I just hope that 5 seconds movie won't happen but with tiktok movies nowadays that could be a possibility. Epic ending btw love the creativity, there are scenes in films that from time to time I keep on rewatching cause of how awesome it is, that scene would be among them.
I love this concept of aliens just mere data across the space and not having any kind form. They experience earth, understand humans and live a bit like them to only lose all of that once they return back to just data in the end. Unique sci-fi/existentialism theme this has potential if they choose to expand it in the future.
I didn't even noticed two hours had passed I was captivated by every awkwardness of every situation. The funniest is that ex girlfriend ex boyfriend accidental meetup of 5 people. Shimokitazawa is really a wonderful place that I wish more movies/drama visit that place as location, it is also subject for rapid development which reflects the theme in the story.
To think the drama aired before the olympics I must say I really appreciate how they made this drama. Brilliant performance from Tori Matsuzaka I loled so hard when he said the golden rule cleanliness, smile but more importantly don't make any sense..brutal and painful risk management.
"The more we bash someone's failure, the more cover-ups there will be. Severe punishment will never improve the situation"
I don't see the writing as one sided for me it's balanced. love this line at the end.
Emoto Tokio's character is a solid representation of a toxic clout chasing people on youtube. The crazy thing is it doesn't even feel exaggeration at all unlike most characters in this drama. He even have a youtube channel, that Neko scene made me loled so hard maybe he become a vtuber next that would be wild lol. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dBLcCedm5TE
