It's always singers, band members makes the best transition to actors unlike idols. I don't see them struggle probably because they value their art more than their image. Another great example is KOM_I. She can also act.
I watched it raw cause I can't wait. Suzuki sensei to me is the best teacher themed jdrama but I know tons of people who don't like that show, it's clearly not for everyone so no need to apologize. This drama is similar to suzuki sensei cause it's also psychological. If you expect this drama to another GTO or GOKUSEN you would be disappointed. There's a bit of comedy here but not enough to be tagged as comedy. The acting btw is great so far even Nagano Mei is impressive in the first episode.
Not as good as the original. The acting is not that great and the pacing is bad too. They also change something here like naoki is not an aspiring manzai artist. I don't know which version is closer to the novel but him being a manzai artist makes the ending scene much better in the original. Kamenashi did well in my opinion but takayuki's portrayal is still better by miles. I'm not saying this cause I'm a yamada fan but if you watch the original your opinion would be the same. I also don't like tsubasa honda's acting, but that's a given she's never been a great actress anyway. The casting person is to blame here, she's a HUGE miscast. But the 2006 version is a masterpiece anyway and the strength is in the story so I still give this one 8/10
This is close to masterpiece. I don't know if people who hated this didn't understand the theme of the movie or they just hated it for its ending. I think they just saw the poster and assume it would be a cute romance movie. It is a lot better than your typical anime adaptation romance movies out there, yes it is not as entertaining but it is more profound with its poignant depiction of love. No over the top acting as well, the acting is sincere, it's just natural.
My take on the ending Momose and shun love each other but shun prioritize his father over the one she truly loves then she decided to marry a rich girl he didn't love. How do I say he loves momose? because he's even wants noboru and momose to like each other because he know he couldn't make her happy, yes I think he just sets them up both. I also think momose and shun is still having an affair years after and kambayashi pretends she didn't know for the sake of her family I guess. "what is the greatest injustice? having things you don't deserve", that line tells if there's a bad guy(BOSS) in this story it is kambayashi. Now that final scene is a bit confusing but I'll take it as if the main character is laughing at himself because just then he realized why she don't answer back when he asked "look at me momose".
I hope this director just stay on doing dramas. I know gintama is good and I like it but he is so good with his WTF japan narrative just for example that episode 7 is GOLD. I also love how he makes his actor laugh in some scenes and sato jiro is his favorite actor.
Forget the other categories, just look at the up and coming new actress category Hamabe Minami and Kanna Hashimoto is neck in neck. Cutest battle ever.

Yeah she's really pretty and I thought she was hamabe minami at first. I haven't read the manga so I can't comment on that but I am familiar with the name since it has that "must read tag".
It wouldn't have won Palme d'Or at cannes if it's not. Burning is also great movie from south korea which imo better than shoplifters but it is super close. Seriously though Burning + shoplifters is better than the rest of movies included here combined.

Yeah the fact that china is populated is a HUGE factor. Have you thought why some hollywood artist wants to penetrate chinese market? It's because they know the more people there are the more money they will make.
