The second lead guy gets the girl, this might be the best example for that. If this was a betting game the odds of soraimachi ending up with sakura than sensei is maybe even less than the chance of sakura still having her voice after the operation. There is no way in hell that I thought soraichi will end up with her specially on how the drama treated his character, yes we were able to feel his love towards sakura but the drama mostly shows him as just a comic relief support guy, tho they succeed cause he is a great character(props to suda amazing acting).
This is what they mean when they say jdramas were too realistic.
And what a fantastic article, we need more articles like this to have a debate, tho ofcourse not using foul words.
the ratio between male to female is maybe 1:10 and the ratio between jdrama to kdrama fans is maybe even lower than that, so can you realize the how OP I am whenever I read my feeds? LOL
Yes please promote jdramas, we need more articles like this. I want to promote jdramas too by writing articles but I can't cause my english is limited tho the thoughts is in my head. And also I have different taste than most Mdlers so instead of helping, I might drive them away .
the actors are better looking in k-dramas
I'm a guy so I don't give a sh*t, but each country shares their own eye candy actors that looks the same. I prefer actor the has charisma and screen presence than any goodlooking dolls on screen, and actors with charisma are more often in jdrama it's just that you need to find the right drama to watch lol.
The acting in J-dramas is weird/ strange/ bad.
weird = yes
strange = yes
bad = no
The so called overacting in jdrama is intentional, why because they were based from a manga or the story in weird to begin with. But again you just need to find the right drama to watch if you need something realistic or even subtle, cause there are lots in jdrama.
The cinematography in J-dramas isn't up to par with K-dramas.
I will not say that this happen in all kdramas, but cinematography in jdramas have meaning they are not there just to make a scene look epic. A painting that can't touch the mind, heart or soul of those who are viewing it is useless. It's like in kdrama people were like "oh what a great painting"(moves to the next one), in jdrama after seeing it you will stay then you will move closer.
The duration of the shows is too short.
you only need 1 ep to have a certain things get resolved, the development of the story is fast, no stupid fillers, how is that not a good thing, Infact jdramas being short is the reason why I stick to it, cause I don't have that much time watching dramas LOL.
dramas lack escapism and are too real
This is what I don't get, they said jdramas are weird with weird plot and weird characters that do overacting a lot, how that became too real. Being too real doesn't mean it lack escapism, in fact I do get alot of escapism by watching indie films. Escapism to me is living in another person life, If I can feel that I am that person or I am in that story then that is escapism right?
Japan is not good at romance dramas.
Im not sure about this one, cause I'm not fond of romance drama
Too many idols in J-dramas.
This is what I totally agree and this stains japanese movie industry internationally imo, tho some idols are good actors or even great but most of them are not, they are even forced by their management to do the role even tho they are still raw. But It doesn't mean japanese actors suck japan still has suda, ikematsu, yagira, sometani, nikaido, matsuoka, yoshinaga, kadowaki, mitsuki, hiroya shimizu, aoi morikawa and others. Note I've only mentioned young actors.
Japan is stuck in a time warp.
When it comes to creativity jdramas are on top, they have always something new to offer like themes that no one in this world touches. Jdramas are the most diverse in any country I know, so many kinds to choose from.
And pls don't be annoyed if we keep pushing jdramas, cause by doing this will help jdramas having more subs. HAHAHAHAHHAHA
Very impressive trailer. I really love mugi kadowaki's screen presence, she even outshines suda at some point in the trailer. The biggest question is, is anyone going to sub this?
There is no one that touch this theme on mainstream movies or drama in any country, and the setting is unique too, for that I will continue to watch this even though the production looks cheap.
Definitely most people would stay away from this once they realize what the theme is.
Can somebody explain the ending for me please? I don't get it...did kakeru die? So what the actual ending?because…
Yes, that is my take on the ending. I haven't read the manga so I really don't know. It will be great if someone that read the manga will clear this for us.

Or maybe that past that we've watched didn't really happen, it is just a big WHAT IF, and by burying letter as a mean to send to it to their past selves is just a way to lessen their own pain. I get it that would make the ending sadder.
BTW did they explain who is that wheelchaired old lady?
This is what they mean when they say jdramas were too realistic.
