People complain about cheating and yet they are watching. There's a reason this genre is so popular so in a capitalist society they have to make it lol. That plot is so spicy ratings doesn't matter this will be very popular for sure.
Mondai no Aru Restaurant gave us Nikaido, Mitsuki and Matsuoka and now these 3 whom are the best of their generation. What a cast plus scriptwriter and director combo.
I guess the weakest point of this film compared to other Park Chan Wook's masterpieces is the hook wasn't strong at the beginning. That stylish transition can also get confusing if you weren't paying attention but gladly it picked up once characters' motivation became more clear, then from then on the film was really solid. Love the dynamics between these two really complex characters it just makes the film more intriguing and should I say I enjoy the sexual tension as well. This movie also gives you different vibe compared to modern asian movies the cinematography is great the quality is up to modern standards but the music, pacing and dialogue gives you that 90's asian movie vibe and I love that. Overall it is really good film but like always it is not for everyone even to those who enjoy park chan wook movies it is more catered towards those who enjoy in depth character study film.
In the end it's still slice of life at its core giving you that much needed space to breath. With budget it could have gone bombastic for every parts which could easily messed up the tone and totally missed the point of the show so I'm glad it didn't.
BRO THAT'S LEGIT HAPPENING, ARE YOU THE WRITER????
I guess watching too much jdramas got me to that conclusion. But jdramas can also surprised you at the end so I wasn't really sure. What important is nailing the theme up to the end which they did.
Believe it or not I found another way to appreciate this drama just watch this on viki with comments on is next level form of entertainment it's really wild. I realize just don't take the plot seriously it is fun. They also got great concept at the end just the execution they choose is 100% comedic.
I haven't watch any of her dramas those are definitely not for me I'm just here because she one of street fighter 6 commentators. I'm surprised cause I thought she would sound your typical kawaii actress. I love her voice might consider watching some of her works cause of that. lol
Dark theme with lighthearted tone is one thing Japanese films are good at and Broken Mariko is one of those. Though the tone is not 100% dark it didn't shy away from serious issues this movie presented even taking jabs at corporate scene in Japan so yeah HUGE TRIGGER WARNING!!!. Typical Tanada Yuki film pacing is slow that felt melancholic at times good use of music too. Acting from both Nao and Nagano Mei is great, not surprised with Nao she's good as usual but this is a total new role from Nagano Mei very different from her usual Jdrama roles and she did a good job. She even smoke here which is a no no if you have that Idol-ish image in Japanese entertainment industry.
This is the most hyped Japanese drama in the history of Japanese dramas. I don't mean it's bad it's actually good knowing jdramas are getting more popular, but this by no means represents the best of the best for japanese dramas. When we say jdramas characterization and human connection matters, season 1 has more games, good characterization but less human connection, it is only in season 2 where it all shine but season 2 has that #1 problem for all live action adaptation which is pacing issues. Season 1 has good pacing Season 2 moves very fast like that an and hikari moment it just happen in 3 minutes and that's just 1 example. This is very entertaining though the quality is top notch most games are very engaging there are few inconsistencies like plot armor thingy but once you get to that ending you can throw all that logic away.
I love that limbo=borderland idea for that ending straightforward but it makes sense. Aside from their determination to live I see there's morality to it, basically what happen in borderland actually didn't happen Aguni didn't burn a lot of bodies, Niragi didn't do all those sht but it doesn't mean there is no consequences niragi got half of his body burned and Aguni is 50/50. The serial killer and scammer pretty much S tier trash in real life so they can't have second chance. I think there would be no season 3 joker is just the one who put them to this test.
I already see that mari twist I mean bakarythm made it very obvious but still didn't feel the emotions that character went through that time. At first it seems this drama going for this one theme until the friendship theme was re-introduced so when the mari twist happen it still hit me. The nail in the coffin is when Asami choose to reincarnate again even though this time she can be a human. Tears fell down my face the script is very good it's already good at the beginning but gets better per episode. It also helps that Sakura Ando is a very good actress this drama has this joyful tone but when it got serious Ando effortlessly nailed it. We probably see 4 frieza in a hightech nursing home for the last scene atleast that's what I hope.
There are many scenes I really like, love the symbolism, parallelism and thought provoking quotes that ever present with this type of movies from Japan. Call Me Chihiro is a more gloomy version of A Story of Yonosuke heartwarming, healing and bittersweet at the same time.
Hmm…if such, must be sumthing deep or food for thoughts…is it cliffhangers or bad ending? Mind sharing your…
I made this comment after watching first episode other episodes stray away from kar wai vibe. It's just the character, the inner thoughts, the characterization felt like someone who exist in chungking express, fallen angels, happy together universe. One episode for one character there are no cliffhangers also not sad ending. It is deep enough the vibe is not your typical Japanese drama.
A generic job oriented drama from Japan, fun characters, atmosphere, positive vibes that sometimes get serious but most of the time not if you've seen one this would feel familiar. First half is so much better than second half it's very predictable and I don't like that forced triangle near the end. The one aspect that carried this show is the chemistry between the leads. I can't believe I'm saying this as someone who does not care about romance genre but Haru and Mamiya Shotaro look so good together on screen. Their interaction and that development felt natural. If only it were a food drama more of them just talking with each other sharing some random things I probably would like it more.
I just leave it here
