I agree! The main problem isn't the lack of screentime, but the lack of use for the screentime. Most of the episodes felt like they were stuck in the same place over and over again. I mean it is not unbelievable since they have been stuck in the same place for a decade, but they could have shown more flashbacks or more information of Wen Lang's background, in order for us to really understand them rather than relying on the book.
I do hope there is a special episode, but there might not be one. I do hope they get a proper story that they deserve. As much as I love Desire4, I do want them to do 2 separate series for now (they can still promote together off-screen).

I agree that they gave a lot of effort and I really admire that they have the courage to make this omegaverse series, but if a person thought the drama has flaws, they are allowed to show the criticism of the show in their rating.
Just because the show is the first of its kind and they put a lot of hard work into it does not make it automatically great or good. Most of the reviews I have seen have given good criticism, so that the cast/crew know how and where to improve in the next drama. It is possible to criticize and support at the same time like encouraging them to do better. However, there are some toxic reviews.

I would say it is fair. An ending is one of the most important parts of a show next to the beginning. If a show messed up the ending, it will take a huge blow in ratings.
