Eunuch of that time were of two types, primarily born male and were castrated. the castration either involved the entire removal of the male reproductive system protruding on the external body of the person , or just the removal of testicles. Other kind of eunuch, not that rare but not really appointed as royal guards, were the people who were born as intersex. and there are lots of variations when it comes to by birth intersex people, but usually in this conditioned would be the ones who have a masculine body structure ( with or without complete male genitals). but nothing ever states that these people cannot be in a romantic relationship with women. if theyre attracted to women , theyre attracted to women. and the women, if they are bisexual or pansexual ,then have a possibility of being attracted to them too. i did a bit of a research and there were a lot of royal ladies who got romantically involved with women, eunuchs and other gender queer people. its not impossible but yes chinese media to show that would be rare. only has happened once. sorry for blabbering this long. this wasn't an attack in any form, just wanted the entire sexuality and gender confusion to be cleared

i really like the representation then. most stories that include an eunuch/intersex in historical or even in modern times have the lover of the eunuch to be a male character. it irks me. like why do they always have to be "feminized" in a heterosexual way and end them up with a "oh male savior" even in fictional stories . yes there were, even historically, make grand eunuchs who were in love with their emperors and their story was majestic, take malik kafur as an example. but this time the eunuch's love interest is a woman. that is so totally a new perspective. eunuchs usually even took a feminine appearance , which also makes us wonder about the princesses sexuality. my question is did this really happen ? like for the real life princess
one thing i hate here is that they are step siblings . unlike the original korean one. this is like the only flaw. In og the parents, sister, brother, everyone around them were just entitled and wanted to rule over fl and ml's choice. but here there is actually a valid reason for everyone to be against their relationship. even i, am against step kids falling for each other. but yeah situation was different here .they did not grow up together. yet. here "couldnt you have found any other guy/girl" is a suitable/agreeable claim from ppl around them
