deep sigh... okay i guess it’s time I’ll talk about this show as it’s nearing its end. before really getting…
I actually find the coming out issues here relatable. I came out to my parents way after one of my ex boyfriends so I remember him pressuring me, just like Pete is, and me pushing back just like Kao.
I don't know that I can relate to the extreme jealousy. I mean, as a Hispanic, we are known to be pretty jealous and intense, I would sometimes get jealous but not to the point that Pete is... He is definitively taken it to a different level. The question we should ask is if Thai gay men are even more intense and jealous than Hispanics :) IDK the answer to that.
Long post alertSo I might be the minority here, but I don't ship Mew and Gulf, I mean come on they are actors…
I think you are preaching to the choir. No one here is into really "shipping" them... You may want to take your issue up to the Thai fans who are the ones that usually have some serious issues shipping some of these actors.
I could care less what Mew and Gulf do with their private lives. I care what they do on screen and thus far they have been great. Gulf in particular IMO has been consistent and impeccable.
Yeah I feel like everyone could relate to atleast one of these guys .. thats why we were so emotional in the last…
I connected with both Tharn and Type.
I actually had a BF who was in school when I was in college. Oh, stupid me. Of course it didn't work out. If I had run into him later, I would have done exactly what Tharn did. "I don't love you anymore", the cold hard truth. I would probably have said "What we had was not love, what I have now is love, goodbye!". But it would be cruel, right?
And like Type, I too caught my BF lying big time and it destroyed my relationship with him. We ended things pretty quickly after that. Like Type, I had a hard time believing anything out of his mouth after that.
One more thing that made me relate to Tharn is the way he felt about Tar towards the end. That confusion of knowing you once loved someone, that it was just lust and not love, but that you still care for that person... I have felt that before... not going into too much details but I know that feeling and I probably would have answered to Type's question the same way Tharn did (at one time in my life, not now of course!)....
I've seen 5 eps so far and been hooked. This is a real yaoi, cliché but a pretty good one. My fujo fantasies…
Episode 9 and 10 introduce a REAL Yaoi romance story ! So stay tuned! Your fujoshi heart will be beating at 100bpm :) and the ending of episode 10 is so well done...
Mew is actually the oldest in the cast besides the actors playing the parents. He is also older than the assistant…
I find that Mew looks his age, maybe a bit younger but this Nong Tar actor wow... He looks like such a baby.
You know, my first thought was that Type had nothing to be jealous about... I mean, you can't compare a boy to man, sorry. But now that I know Kokliang's real age, I don't know if I will feel the same way LOL And of course, there is the way that Tharn looked when Type asked him if he was still into Tar.
I don't want to go into details now but that scene rang so true for me... I loved it! I loved this episode!
In real life Gulf is 4 years YOUNGER than the actor who plays Tar. Yep, Gulf probably calls him P'Kokliang LOL Can you imagine? Koklliang is also 3 years OLDER than the guy who plays his older brother... It most be so awkward to call him P'.... LOL
I came here to say the same thing. All the shows the OP talks about are Chinese and Korean but there is Japanese,…
If you find a site that I can use to watch Scum's Wish, let me know because that's one I really want to watch. It has Dori Sakurada in it. I also need to watch Coffee&Vanilla with him but they said is not that good....
The whole Tar/Tharn storyline is so Yaoi... Interesting to see a true Yaoi element inserted here.
I admit that imagining those two together makes me feel uncomfortable, but once more this story rings true to life... So many of the elements in the story, Tharn's look when Type asked him about his feelings for Tar, Type's look of diissapointment when he found out that Tharn lied and his reaction when he was sitting alone in that chair (Excellent acting by Gulf)... Then the cut to Tar crying himself to sleep... I cried a little bit :( That feeling of loneliness when your heart is broken, when you find out the person you love doesn't love you (Tar and Tum) or when you find out the person you love lied to you and you feel that what you have is not real (Type) or when you find out you disappointed your partner and can't even apologize (Tharn). It's like all kinds of hurt....
When I get really stuck, I switch to something I haven't watched for a long time. You've only mentioned chinese…
I came here to say the same thing. All the shows the OP talks about are Chinese and Korean but there is Japanese, Thai and Taiwanese shows that are much more bubbly and very different.
My first asian drama was a J-drama, Good Morning Call and its funny, while still being romantic, fluffy and still making you cry.
Btw is TharnType the most succesfull serie bl of this season. Uwma and dbk did not even get number one in twitter…
The above link is for an article that declares TharnType "the most successful BL of the second half of 2019" and an "evolution" in the development of Thai BL.
One of the author's point is something we have talked about again and again here, which is the frank depiction of gay relationships...
I find it interesting because DBK is also in some sense also a revolutionary BL, with Mork (like Tharn) being a gay character and Sun slowly coming out as gay, while Pete is definitively also gay.
2019 is the year where Thai BL crosses that threshold to become Gay Thai BL (?).
...which is interesting because Japanese BL is really not gay at all and while Thai BL is still becoming its own thing, it still takes from Japanese BL tropes (IMO Tar/Tharn pairing is classic Japanese BL, and don't spoil anything for me as I haven't watched Episode 10).
Here is another article for anyone interested in the more academic take of this. This is an article on LoveSick and Thai BL by an academic.. yes guys, LoveSick has been the subject of actual real academic research. Thai BL is a real phenomena that we still don't completely understand it! :)
Are you sure UWMA has more views? Isnt it because they count both line and youtube?
Thanks for the clarification.
However, i still wonder, do they determine this by average per episode segment watched? Each epospde is made of 4 videos and folks could watch #1 and decide they dont want to watch anymore afterwards so how do they determine total views and per episode views?

See my comment above, but the short answer is that I got that from another website but I am thinking this stats are not at all comparable.
So folks here say that TT has 2.5M views per episode but when I clicked last time on an episode PART, each part had an average of 750k or so views... So, I think the numbers are overinflated because they count EACH part.
I don't like that.
I think what you just brought up, the issue with youtube and Line, makes it even more difficult.
So, I don't know how you can measure it other than to compare it directly LINE to LINE because both probably have bootleg episodes.
The comparison with say, DBK, becomes impossible as DBK is posted to GMMTVs channel in youtube. Same with ToL.
Then if you try to go back in time, the comparisons are even more difficult... Say, is SOTUS or TT the most watched show in Thai BL history? What about LoveSick? Love by Chance?
Yeah, I think comparisons are nearly impossible. However, I do think we can declare that TT is the most successful show of the year. As fans, we may not be qualified to say it but I am pretty sure it is... :)
We should do a live rewatch party were we can all comment and scream like fujoshi girls hahaha would be cool

This guy is way more fit than I thought from watching him on TharnType...
BTW He is a med student! wow!
