Boy Next World, Love in the Air, Between Us, until we meet again, Tale of a thousand stars,My stand in
I didn't like My Stand In because of the toxicity but I think any dislike you have for Up needs to be put aside so you can watch Lovely Writer which is simply one of the best BLs ever made IMO. Its a must watch! :)
Your list says you haven't watched Love Sick (the new one from 2024) or On1y One. If you like H2H, I had recommend those two.
If you are looking for something very different, I also would recommend Chocomilkshake, especially if you like animals. :)
The lady who wrote Lovesick also wrote Why you Y Me? which has Plan (Love by Chance) and Save (My Magic Prophecy). It has one or two BL side stories and a bromance.
I also didn't see Ghost Host Ghost House in your watchlist. I think that was a very good series.
Your list also say you haven't watched Gelboys yet (It says planned). I recommend you bump it up in your list. Its very good.
There is also Vietnamese BL. And Filipino BL. MDL doesn't have Viet BL. Oh and Laos and Cambodia have also a few BL series. They aren't that good though.
But the viet ones are great if you haven't seen any... I liked Love Bill and The Star Always Follow You. Love Bill had two very handsome actors and was good for 90% of it. I didn't like the ending. The Star Always Follow You made me cry. It was really beautiful. I also liked Under The Oak Tree, which was also beautiful too. And of course, there is the classics, Nation's Brother and Mr. Cinderella from O2.
Oh and I also don't think you have He She It on your list. That one is with Gameplay and Jeff Satur. Wayufilm also has a couple of excellent short BLs. My favorite Wayufilm ones are Key Love and My Friendship.
In my humble opinion, New understands BL better than anyone else in the world but his range as a director is kind of limited. But i agree, he also needs to evolve. Cheewin has really evolved (see Lovesick 2024) and P'Andy has tried to evol e but I think New has staled a little.
@tabbykitten We have way too many ignorant and disrespectful fans that don't know or forget that New Siwaj is one of the founding fathers of Thai BL. Cheewin (Why R U, Make It Right, Playboyy), Andy (Love Sick, Make It Right) and New (Love Sick, Make It Right, Love by Chance, UWMA) are pretty much the folks who defined what BL is for us. Without them, we wouldn't have BL in Thailand at all. In fact, with the exception of SOTUS and 2Moons, the 3 of them were involved with all of the early series that started the BL wave.
On top of that New is one of the most prolific directors. Is he great? No, but he likes BL and he works in BL almost exclusively. His company, Studio Wabisabi has produced many Thai BLs. Those 3 directors have also "discovered" and/or worked with so many important actors, including Perth, Ohm, Toptap, Khaotung, Frank, Drake, Saint, Fluke, Peak, Ngern, Earth P., New, etc. The list is too long. Simply put, New is one of the most influential directors in Thai BL.
Normally, people don't like him. He directs kissing scenes as if he were a priest. In BL Fourever U, the promise…
People who don't like him are also not real BL fans.
Let me be VERY clear, there would be NO Thai BL without New.
Give him his dues and let him keep doing what he does. I agree he needs to do better in terms of directing BLs but I also would never disrespect one of the founding Fathers of Thai BL.
I wouldn't have phrased it like that... But let's just say that I get your point and I agree with it. Khem is…
I am on Ep 10 and Khem is bland. He is way too passive. I also think the script has a major issue: we don't see anything happen between Peem and Khem that can make us believe THEY are in love. Instead, the series relies solely on the reincarnation plot to convince us they are in love. For Charn and Jet, they make us see them falling in love. We can actually believe it is not just the reincarnated souls that are pulling them together.
This series, thus far, is poorly written. It has many plot holes, a lot of nothing happens between scenes. I have no idea why it is so popular. I will finish it but I am not very pleased with it. Seems I could be watching something better :(
And gosh, the trolls here are annoying. Why would people think it is disrespectful to criticize a series? It is art. Once you put it out there, it is meant to be watched, analyzed, and criticized. If you don't want to be criticized, don't publish it, don't put it out there.
Other than the sex scenes and the cuteness of the leads, there was absolutely NOTHING redeeming about this series.…
I think there is one scene where someone refers to Sorn as stubborn, but I could be wrong. I am 90% sure.... Its towards the end, one of the last episodes.
You need to take it down a notch. I wasnt mansplaning. I was giving you my pov. Now, I wrote an article on Thai BL history (thats pretty high on Google. I think the AI uses it in its explanation, which is funny) but even I have to Google yaoi because I forget the acronym (and how its spelled). So i wasnt explaining as much as laying out the background for my thesis on why this series is pure yaoi.
While its sort of common knowledge that Thai BL comes from Yaoi, its not commom knowledge that Yaoi was criticized for lacking plot and meaning. It was more titillating than it was cerebral.
The closest to Yaoi we had before in Thai BL was Mame, but I personally think this is the truest Yaoi series ever to come out of Thailand. Whether that is a negative or positive critique is up to you to decide, not me. I never defended the series. I never said it was not shallow.

But in general, I disagree. I think they both did well here and this is an improvement from their previous series.

Thus far best series of the year for me is Gelboys.
