About the Kwang Il part, the director said himself that they never intended to romanticize it, some people (and I think its just a few, like not even the half of them) just have a distorted pov. I actually picked up a fight, when My Mister was on air, with a girl on youtube because she said shitty stuff like: love can change a person and bla bla bla and I was like: gurl??? especially because Ji An never liked him at the first place.
About the wiretap, I'm not going to say much of it. She needed the money, she had bad intetions at first, but even after she started to see him as a person and someone that was struggling, she needed to keep listening because of her "boss", she needed to report for him. And the urge for money made her to continue. >>>And by that I play the "our hearts are not ruled by a reason" card because this is life. She needed the money but at the same time she was starting to like that person, and needed to listen, because he was struggling, he may even harm his own life etc etc etc. And she felt different towards him because she saw him as a human being. We can't say that all of this is "just" romanticized, bcs somehow this is the most raw experience you can have with someone... bcs we're always trying to hide something, we're not 100% true, even with ourselves. And after DH was kinda safe, she deleted... plus even DH himself never felt angry about her wiretapping, he felt as if she/someone was all along with him on his darkest moments.

I thought that I would enjoy more as I actually did. But I just rushed to end it (after they found who the stalker was). It's nice but I thought the slow burn (about them not being friends) would last longer, and the story wasn't that much either. Is just nice to kill some time and the kind of drama that you can't even remember by the end of the year... from my point of view ofc. But was a nice article, this can be the type of gem that someone is looking for!

First, I'm watching Mystic Pop-up Bar and there's a huge amount of comedy scenes but you can see this small layer of drama that she plays and I thought: wow would be so nice to watch her in a more serious/heavy drama (for a bit because every time is romantic comedy) and with veteran actors... she has the potential u know??
ps.: I watched Secret but I have some huge problems with the story... and it's a 2013 drama, since then, only romantic/ romantic comedy dramas.

Yes! I thought was a suicide note as well...! Plus, I have to say that I hated Simon til the end of the earth lol, I also hated Tae Oh but Simon was a much more shitty manipulative asshole... Tae Oh was a manipulative apprentice in comparison lmao I never thought that Simon loved/hated Gemma, for me he just hated... and I agree about Gemma, everything that she did, I know that was trying to get her revenge back but the result of her actions always just sounded like a crazy person (like she was loosing herself)! About the son... the fact that he raped in the original version, you can see that maybe he did that because "he needed to take something from someone without asking them/their consent" but stealing seems a much more appropriate action for a kid.
sometimes I think that people that have said that this ending was shitty were the ones that never watched Doctor Foster, bc man... THAT ENDING WAS SHITTY. So I was very glad that they were able to make the son story line a little better at the end. Never expected the writer to make a WHOLE different ending because after all, was still a remake. But that little hope was so much better and heartfelt (even Sunwoo looking for her son in shelter homes you can clearly sees that she really likes him LOL sometimes I couldn't understand Gemma's reactions and even her way to love her son).

I felt that when I watched Secret Love Affair in 2014... it's hard to find another good content afterwards, I had the same satisfaction years later, with My Mister, in 2018.
