they should've had mu qing fall in love with kexin before finding out she is actually rong yu. Instead, it was pretty much a coworker relationship from his perspective, she only reminded him of his "dead" fiance in certain moments and that was it. when he finds out kexin is rong yu.. it was pretty much meh, he had no feelings for kexin but is sort of defaulted into being "in love" with her now because she's actually rong yu.
ML's dedicated to FL was top tier, sadly I couldn't feel the same love from FL. I don't think she really loved…
I think either the editing or writing is to blame. From the early eps we can tell she has feelings for him (jealousy, showing concern, etc) but she would always deny it because she couldn't accept herself falling in love with someone who didn't love her back (he was behaving in ways that made her think it was just a business marriage for him and there was no way he loved her, and she believed that facade.)
After they both confessed and made love in ep 21, we understood just that, both of their perspectives and why they acted the way they did towards each other. I think it would have been nice if from that point on if they were "Us against the world" but yet again we were thrown back into the hamster wheel. the cycle of him purposely pushing her away to "protect" her over and over again and it was maddening.
but regardless I do think she really loved him. she told him a few times whenever he would do his "self-sacrifice" acts of distancing himself from her to "protect" her that she would kill herself too if he ever died doing what he did. he never listens though and kept doing them. In the end the only reason she didn't kill herself from the pain of his death was because she had to raise their child. she never moved on from him but had to pretend to forget him to dull the pain and continue to live for their child.
the cover art made me watch this (again?), I'm pretty sure this was my second attempt at it lol. I really hate chinese republican era storylines. once again, I only managed to fully watch until the low teens then skipping to just the ml/fl scenes, then skipped straight to the last ep after ep 25.
I just wanted to see ml and fl moments but there were so few given the 50 eps count. a love story that was hijacked by republican era politics and whatever else I didn't care about.
Is Yao Zijin as clever as Wei Yingluo? I want to watch this drama, but am not too sure yet.

I think her father is a doctor but it's weird how their family is caught up in vying for power. anyway, she was helping at her family's medicine place when a poor pregnant woman begged her to prescribe medicine. she wasn't supposed to but did it out of kindness, the woman ended up dying. they blamed her for prescribing incorrectly and her family got her married to avoid trouble. it turns out her family actually increased the dosage on purpose to get her into trouble so they could force her to marry under the pretense of helping her escape her crimes.
she feels guilt for what happened to the woman as well as not wanting to be a puppet for her family. she's currently suicidal, she has been dosing herself with small amounts of poison. when her husband accidentally ate a piece of clementine she was eating he got poisoned a little bit too.
I enjoyed it. 9/10 as a rom com, however, the attempt of injecting a thriller/crime element in the plot makes it 8/10 and that's being quite generous bc the rest of the drama was really good.

nothing is confirmed yet. it was just a "reenactment" from what QY was thinking/accusing had happened. I do think someone did it to delay the marriage since if there's a death of an elder in the family the children have to mourn for 3yrs. (yuan long is sus since he was discussing to prevent the marriage right before the mom died)
only thing I'm confused about atm is why the emperor sent his eunuch to personally free the doctor and his daughter from the firewood department, it seemed to have led to a change of confession in court.
