previous ep, the palace guard commander was killed while pursuing ziyu and general shi from leaving the "party" and the queen mother's brother was also taken cared of (general shi said he got hurt and was sent elsewhere for treatment but we dk if he's also dead).
queen mother asked general shi for a recommendation for replacement of palace guard commander, obviously he rec'd someone on prince sui/ziyu/general shi's side. easy coup.

he did it in "a journey to love" and it didn't out, i guess he learned his lesson about forcing a marriage lol.

I think in ep 22 he has made the connection that she's lu wen. he found out qiao xian is LMT's uncle. and LMT's grandfather's business name was Lu wu (?). kinda reverse engineered the connection between lu wu and lu wen, if you remember when she explained how she came up with the name lu wen for her bandit identity (some chinese word play stuff i'm assuming lol)

when you battle an enemy, you come to respect their skills. intellect, etc. that's essentially what that is. I think you're reading too much into the "archnemesis" namesake. LW was his target he had to take down and it was just that.

he felt betrayed because LW was someone of their word and they had a ceasefire/peace agreement but "LW" attacked CZX
