firstly, shangguan ya tricked Li Rong into getting a taoist master or whatever for LC, LC then became chronically ill/weak after taking medications from the guy so LC thought LR tried to killed him. that's when LC became distrustful of LR and began slowly poisoning her over 8 years.

SRQ found out LR was being poisoned but him and SGY decided to keep it on the low as a way to deal with LR since she would always side with LC on certain matters. they kept fact of the poisoning a secret so they could either save her if she sides with the shangguans and nobles or kill her if she sides with LC.

in the end before LC died(?) he did order his female guard to kill LR. however, SGY also gave the order for SRQ to kill LR, and I think ultimately it was SRQ that got the deed done.

only thing they ever achieve is make me hate their ending and lower my rating, that's an auto -1.5 in my books baby.
