I find people who just don't get that other people experience and interpret a drama differently a nightmare. People are crazy in that way and there's no hope in this world whatsoever that they'd see the light. GC was great when she was independent and taking care of her family. With JH they really can't trust each other and their relationship would never work out.

it's not just childish misunderstandings, imo. Both characters are unable to communicate, both are untrustworthy and both are full of selfish pride. They don't honestly know themselves and therefore can't be honest with each other. Their tragedy is not tragedy for me and I'm not moved, bc I don't like either of the main characters. I don't think there's any hope for them or reason beyond physical attraction for them to be together.

Prepare to be slaughtered for "character misrepresentation". I agree about GH, she's on the whole all of those things in ep 1-8. And I totally dislike her. But in ep 9 Gil Chae showed how independent and competent and reliable she can be. Obviously it would have been a mistake if she'd run off with JH instead of keeping going on doing business and taking care of her family her own. And JH did not promise to marry her, that was a major thing. Their love was doomed from the start. There is attraction but no effort to communicate clearly (like why couldn't JH explain what he's been doing during the war and in the Ganghwa island). They just hurt each other, due to pride, and there's no way the deep lack of trust that goes both ways could suddenly be effaced. (Yes, other people will take to "explaining" why GH is so great but I don't care. She really has been utterly superficial and generally impossible so far. I really can't identify with a character who regards herself as the most beautiful girl and loves staring at herself in the mirror.

Totally agree. My rating went from 9 for the first episodes to 7.5. Short flashbacks are normal for things that happened in the past, not entire episodes. This is very bad writing indeed. It's not a question of who are the "mains", it's about present and past events.

You've been around so you should have learned by now that everyone sees and interprets dramas differently. There's no such thing as a misrepresentation of a character. I don't want to see organized fan action in MDL, everyone should be allowed to express their own interpretation. Fans should not try to fight for or elevate a drama as a movement.

it's an adaptation. so why read comments if "we" are sick of them. I wonder if "we" have decided this point is worth fighting as group, or whether you're royalty. Webtoon adaptations are not worse bc they're adaptations so acknowledging the fact that this is an adaptation does not make it less worthy. Little Women writer said the drama was an adaptation but I never saw any similarities to the original. So she was just overly honest about it. My Dearest is also historically factual about the Qing invasion which is a merit in my view.

Yes, FL is bound to get at least some moments of clarity or bravery. But I just keep remembering that I hated how the FL was written in 100 Days My Prince just as much. It's from the same writer as this. Agree that SFL seems clingey and obsessed and could easily turn out to be a psycho. And she prob also had a role in the past life as a destroyer of their lives.

I would think an adult professional woman doesn't have a crush on a co-worker let alone confess it like a middle school kid. But maybe Koreans do that at their workplaces. Dunno. But FL is too childish and airhead and borderline retarded for this day and age. And the love potion stuff, how much more of a teenager can she be. She didn't even care one bit about ML's illness. I'm just admiring Rowoon in this, and happy for his screentime.

I don't know a line of work where workers are not constantly reviewed and evaluated. By bosses, co-workers, by customers. That's just the reality.
