I totally agree. There's no possibility for me to empathize with or like the FL. But be prepared for the hordes who say "c'mon it's just a romcom." But in my view romcoms really need likeable and relatable characters. People here attack me for saying this, because it's hurting the character's feelings. (I didn't know fictional characters can get insulted by comments here but that's what they claim.)

I think there's still one more dad? Hopefully his story is only 2 eps. I'd be interested in the school, the headmaster and the janitor.

Jang Hyun hunts his own countrymen like animals in Qing, knowing that they will be mutilated. (One of the many things he doesn't tell Gil Chae). The ending scene probably means the people he wronged or their relatives will take revenge on him.

Yes, it was a dead end from the start. But I think Ryang Eum did what he did bc he thought GC had found love and he'd also seen that GC & JH together were just toxic with each other

I totally agree with you on all points. I don't feel any sadness or tragedy, since I can't empathize with the characters. They definitely have no chance of succeeding and if they end up together somehow in s2, that will be short-lived.

Again. You have the habit for putting down other people's opinions. Just don't. Otherwise, anything you care to write is for nothing. This site is meant for DIALOGUE. Just accept it and make it worthwhile for others to express themselves too. It's not all about you.

I find people who just don't get that other people experience and interpret a drama differently a nightmare. People are crazy in that way and there's no hope in this world whatsoever that they'd see the light. GC was great when she was independent and taking care of her family. With JH they really can't trust each other and their relationship would never work out.

it's not just childish misunderstandings, imo. Both characters are unable to communicate, both are untrustworthy and both are full of selfish pride. They don't honestly know themselves and therefore can't be honest with each other. Their tragedy is not tragedy for me and I'm not moved, bc I don't like either of the main characters. I don't think there's any hope for them or reason beyond physical attraction for them to be together.

why explain then? why read comments at all? To set things straight? Just accept that like in real life, we click with some people and find some people unbearable.

Prepare to be slaughtered for "character misrepresentation". I agree about GH, she's on the whole all of those things in ep 1-8. And I totally dislike her. But in ep 9 Gil Chae showed how independent and competent and reliable she can be. Obviously it would have been a mistake if she'd run off with JH instead of keeping going on doing business and taking care of her family her own. And JH did not promise to marry her, that was a major thing. Their love was doomed from the start. There is attraction but no effort to communicate clearly (like why couldn't JH explain what he's been doing during the war and in the Ganghwa island). They just hurt each other, due to pride, and there's no way the deep lack of trust that goes both ways could suddenly be effaced. (Yes, other people will take to "explaining" why GH is so great but I don't care. She really has been utterly superficial and generally impossible so far. I really can't identify with a character who regards herself as the most beautiful girl and loves staring at herself in the mirror.

Totally agree. My rating went from 9 for the first episodes to 7.5. Short flashbacks are normal for things that happened in the past, not entire episodes. This is very bad writing indeed. It's not a question of who are the "mains", it's about present and past events.

It's utterly wrong to say you are right and other people are wrong. Pls this is the one and only thing you must have learned by spending time at this site.
