FINALLY!! I was looking for a refreshing drama like this since WYW and AOS ended. I had some expectations with…
I found Secretary Kim has aged badly. Forecasting Love and Weather was very good and she was very different in that role, portrayed an entirely different persona.
y'all are some extra haters for real. who cares if she lost weight or had plastic surgery. the comments section…
It's a shock when beauty standards get this extreme. People reflect on the issue. But aren't you judging the ML by looks only and not from acting? Kinda mixed message.
People are having SLS, but idk how when GKP looks so much more hotter than the SML imoIdk why but the SML's features…
KJY has not changed from Black (2017). Plastic surgery, maybe, but I can already spot which actors have gone to the same surgeons from the shape of their noses and other features. Those who didn't have any work done are an exception.
Some Kdrama fans are in love with the idea of "SL Syndrome" , even if character is shitty (not in this drama ),…
Nah. You're thinking people are stupid. Maybe they are. But being familiar with both actors from earlier dramas, GKP has shined best as the second lead and he's okay with not being the lead and would take support roles if interesting ones are offered. Said he in a recent interview. As for KJY, I'd just have wanted to see KJY as a full blown romancer for once.
Good article! I agree with all the pros and cons. I like the discussion whilst airing but if I'm not immeadiately liking a drama I'll wait for the reviews. Some dramas are simply not for bingeing. Vincenzo definitely, Misaeng and Stove League and Today's Webtoon are of that sort. Agree about slow dramas, better for watching once a week. I doubt I'd have finished or appreciated Our Beloved Summer if I'd had tried to binge watch it. But waiting for new episodes of a drama like AoS is kinda torturuous.
guilty, team 2ml even before the start. PMY seems uneasy in her body somehow. She's gorgeous but why does that…
yes it's very sad. I don't want hurt her to her be hurt. But on the other hand I want to be aware the dangers of plastic surgery and the awful beauty standards. Difficult. I am one of those who really liked her acting in Forecasting Love and Weather.
I see a lot of comments about PMY's face, I think when somebody starts with the surgeries, filler, botox etc,…
guilty, team 2ml even before the start. PMY seems uneasy in her body somehow. She's gorgeous but why does that have to be stressed and shown in such an exaggerated manner. Hope she gets more relaxed as the drama continues. GKP chubbiness comes as a relief after so much screentime for FL stick insect legs.
Search is a rare gem of a drama. It's intense but not stressful. No boring moments, not a single weakness. There's action but the relationships between characters (including human-animal) are much more important. There are zombies but they have little screentime, there is a mystery to be solved. Zombie attacks are kept to a minimum so the suspense is more psychological than realying on shock effects. That makes it all the more interesting. Altogether this has more a feel of a classic sci fi series (like the original Star Trek) than anything else. The characters are on a limited space, they have to fulfill missions, they are tested. The crew of actors couldn't be better. An all-stars cast such as this is a rare and wonderful thing. They complement each other so well. Jand Dong Yoon is a great natural talent and it's great to see how much effort he has made to learn the dog handling. Krystal, Park Yoon, Lee Hyun Hook and Moon Young Hee - we gradually learn about their characters and backgrounds in a very satisfying way. I didn't want to pause watching the series, it had me hooked for the full 10 hours. That was the perfect lenght too. The slowly revealed plot was well written. The romance is present as a possibility, it's not really essential to the drama. This is a decision that leaves a lot of room for viewers' anticipation and imagination which is more satisfactory often than showing explicit romance and using breakups as the sole plot moving devices. (The last sentence is a reminder to myself to look for similar dramas).
Ngl, i lost count how often i had the wish to poke the characters and yell "DO SOMETHING!" in the hour of episode…
ain't that the truth. How could nurse Seo not even call the police when the thugs came. Only 2 more episodes left, would have to be 4 to get it back on track.
You guys have to remember that certain networks and shows only allow a certain type of kissing. More often than…
I and many others can't stand the actress. As for steaminess, Misty proves that your culturally sensitive analysis doesn't really hold. Fish kisses are the worst.
Kinda premature for Hwang Min Hyun to get a lead role. It shows clearly in AoS that he's in the first steps still. He can become a great actor but it'll take its time - as with Suzy (just to take one example of steady growth with accumulated experience). I feel this is a waste of Kim So Hyun, she's fantastic. I'd like to see her paired with another top actor like Lee Junho.
Not a big fan of ml. He was not good in Alchemy of souls. Really wish it was some other actor. Also, he has only…
I agree. It shows clearly in AoS that he's in the first steps still. He can become a great actor but it'll take its time - as with Suzy (just to take one example of steady growth no offense to Suzy). Jung Woo is a great actor but I got stressed as it seems there's going to be a lot of screen time for the villain (Goo Tae Man). Kwon Yool is so ultra effective as a villain (Bring It On Ghost, Dali and the Cocky Prince) that it doesn't seem possible for me to watch him anymore! I'll return to this later if it gets positive reviews.
I couldn't get past the first episode. Disgusted by the portrayal of women as catfighting, tearing each other from the hair, violently, and downing another woman into the toilet. No. This kind of portrayal of women must stop. I could see that YAIs acting was good, but no reason to continue with such rubbish. Wondering whether this is supposedly art bc it plays classical music... Do You Like Brahms is a great drama if classical music is your thing.
A nice entertaining drama but nothing special. The interesting parts were the reality show and how scripted it was. And the portrayal of idol life also interesting. The lead couple were good, but I didn't root for them from the bottom of my heart. They were portrayed as overly nice people and the second lead couple as overly obnoxious and stupid. And there was the most unnecessary 3rd lead couple that was particularly annoying. But I watched this in 4 days and skipped all the parts with the 2nd and 3rd lead couples. I don't plan to watch anything by this writer again though. The OST was sheer torture! 8.0/10.
