I watched the first three episodes, they were quite interesting because of Kim Soo Hyun and others as the young versions of the main characters. The adult counterparts clearly coudn't keep the same kind of intensity. It was clear the drama would not be worth watching further. But the first 2-3 episodes are kind of a minidrama on their own.
what'd be the point of this speculation? Just to express yourself? Maybe watch a series already made and write…
for criticism of patriarchal capitalist nightmares, you've chosen the wrong hobby or hobby site. K-dramas are an escape from wokeism penetrating every media.
I didn't get past the first 10 minutes. Lee Jin Wook has all of his face hidden by hair, did he not want to be in this drama? That's very much the feeling I'm getting. Maybe it gets better, is good even, but I'm too done with actors hiding their faces (Hwang In Yeop in Why Her, another case of not going to try to empathize with someone not showing their eyes, eyes and eyebrows are core to acting)
I feel this is the drama I've been waiting to watch all my life. Love it so much. Absolutely beautiful, I laugh and am in tears. The cinematography is superb. Music is great. Dialogue is fantastic. So funny, so sad.
I really enjoyed Mr. Queen, it is ticklish-funny and a real pleasure to watch. I am debating myself whether it deserves a 9 or 8.5. (As if that mattered hahaha). The first 8 episodes were the best for me. After that, it turns into a more typical sageuk where palace politics takes over and it all becomes a bit of a snoozefest. I've watched too many sageuks to have any patience for palace politicking. Shin Hye Sun is my absolutely fave actress, her ability to portray feelings is superb. She has a gracefullness and intelligence that shines through even when she's portraying a badass clumsy-ish guy. Unfortunately I watched the Red Sleeve before this, so I couldn't appreciate Kim Jung Hyun in the king role at all. Most of the time he looked like he was about to fall asleep. He was good in CLOY, but this went far above his acting abilities. But critics tend to praise non-acting aka having a straight emotionless face all through the drama. Some of the comic characters were just fillers, not very funny or interesting. This would have benefited from being shorter. Although I do appreciate the humour, there are so many kdramas deserving a higher rating, therefore, 8.5
By now it's clear there won't be a season 4. It was already stated in fact in the beginning of S3. Still, they didn't give us closure. Just brought on new story developments, cliffhangers and ghosts in the very last episode - as if there would Season 4.. If that isn't mistreatment and contempt of the viewers who've been around through the 3 seasons, I don't know what is. Shame on the production crew, TV Chosun and Phoebe (pls don't write ever again). The actors are of course innocent, wishing them all the best and success in the future.
From ep 11 on, this gets really boring. The first half was kind of entertaining. The "met as kids" cliche is something I never ever need to encounter again. I'll be fast forwarding the last episodes, let's see if I change my mind.
