I honestly don't think FL is being stupid. She's picking her battles wisely. She submits to her husband's family for the good of maintaining a good relationship despite her beginning to suspect her husband's terrible and infidel ways. She is a proud and arrogant woman, so she won't let her husband's family get to her by showing emotions. Also, FL cannot just come out and say her husband, their "good" son, was cheating on her and getting loans through her name and expect that they will agree with her. Chinese culture is also very patriarchal. The family would not believe her when they don't even like her to begin with. Besides, she currently does not have evidence. To tell the husband's family that he was a cheater would allow his family to say she was not a good wife that's why he cheated on her with another person. They'll still continue to victimize their son when he is the main problem in all this. FL is also trying to still live in this bubble of fantasy by trying to convince herself that her husband is a good person. I mean, most person in that situation would probably try to convince themselves that the husband they knew, loved and married would never betray them like that. I think FL is rather smart. It can be frustrating to see how reserve and quiet her character is, but it makes sense for her character considering the things she is experiencing currently. I mean, girl lost her husband, husband's family hates her and is accusing her of otherwise, slapped with a huge lawsuit bc of "dead" husband, suspects her "dead" husband was cheating on her and used her identity behind her back to take out loans, and so much more. Yeah, that can definitely alter a person's personality overnight.
I have a feeling that FL’s husband probs isn’t dead? We never got to see his face. Unless he is but anyways, this drama is really giving me The Confidence 2.0 vibes in some sense 😂😂 Minus the psychopath Feng Xiao Sheng lol tho he do be sus sometimes but that’s bc of his one sided love
I’ve been wondering. At the end when the FL shed a tear, I wonder if they were tears of relief , tears of shock, or tears of some pain? Not that she loved or cared for him but I wonder if she shed tears bc that wasn’t the type of ending she would’ve wanted for ML? I know she just experienced another traumatizing event and is emotional during that time but it really focused on her crying face as we were seeing what was happening to the ML. She wasn’t crying right before that too.
I must've been the only one who didn't mind the ending? I feel like because the chemistry wasn't entirely there despite them having gone through many things together, the ending was fine for how it turned out. I am happy that LY is finally free (maybe, we don't exactly know) and just able to live his life without worries. He can finally live for himself. And if he finds his way back to DD, great. I know DD will either go for him or let him live his life & watch him from a distance. Whatever the case may be after the ending we received. Anyways, it was a good journey & an experience. lol
I heard it’s just rumored right now, that the scripts have been given to see if they’ll accept or not. Not sure who it is since they’re saying RJL + YM and RJL + JT. I haven’t seen RJL play reunite with his prev costars so let’s see about this.
I must be the only one who does not seem to find anything wrong with the drama? I’m mostly watching this drama for RJL. First time to really actually watch any of LQ’s drama. Anyways, I finally found the time to watch the drama and is currently on episode 7. I think that they’re all playing their characters well. I think the only thing that lacks is definitely the chemistry. I still think RJL had the best chemistry with TSY that’s probs why I expect a lot when it comes to his chemistry with other actresses. lol Yes, I understand that RJL is typecasted & def does need be more relaxed when acting so he can flesh out his acting more, be more versatile. I think LQ’s voice is fine. I don’t get people that complains about the female lead’s voice all the time. RJL doesn’t have a deep voice but rather nasal-ish so could also be a factor as to why people are not finding his character appealing but rather “boring”. Idk, either way I’m actually enjoying the drama so far. To each their own.
did this one like air dropped?? i follow c-net on the reg but didn't see any confirmation date for this
They never exactly confirmed the air date but there were many rumors that it was going to either air on Sept. 19th or the 21st, but new rumors came out very recently that it was going to air on 9/15 instead, which it really did air today. It was kind of a whiplash regardless of the constant promotions the past days, weeks.
Yeah...I think I'm going to say goodbye to this comment section for now because reading some of the newcomers…
lol The ones that throws me off are the ones asking if it's a HE/BE/SE. Like bro, if you just scroll down a little bit more, you'll get your answer bc this question has been asked way too many times.
Anyone read the novel ? How different is from the drama? Just started reading and since the beginning i find it…
the novel was fairly short. We saw more things from XLH's perspective vs DFQC. The novel is 95% different from the novel, I would say. There's still some subtle similarities between both the drama and novel where you if you read the novel too, you will find yourself saying "Oh this scene is like that part in the novel" except just executed much differently. No mortal arc realm, no body switching, no second male lead, etc. Lots of changes in the drama and more character development. The drama developed the CP's relationship a lot better since we barely got any of that in the novel. And DFQC was much more manipulative and goal oriented (to revive chidi) in the novel. Hurt XHL a lot.
woahhhh we're getting at least some more CLJ content! We're getting some character specials. Whether it be something else or some little epilogues, not sure what it'll be but it doesn't matter bc we get to see a bit more of the group and each of the characters!
My goodness. Where I do start? There's so much I can say about this beauty of a drama. First and foremost, I mostly want to thank the directors, production team, and those that were involved in creating this gem of a drama. And for choosing & entrusting this drama to both Dylan & Esther + the entire cast that is fairly unfamiliar to the public. Even though the novel was already there for them to pretty much take from, they instead took everything from the novel and fleshed it out in a much more refreshing way. Tropey but also so new. I love how they changed up so many things from them switching bodies to them learning to grow and love with each other in cangyan hai (sea) to fighting the world for each other, etc. They made it in a way that would be easier to execute the scenes in a much more smoother way, and they definitely did it. The fr ate and left no crumbs.
I remember reading the novel and finding out they were going to make a live adaptation of the drama. At first I was unsure about how Dylan was going to pull the white hair, since he didn't exactly look good with in the in the past. Also, because the novel DFQC has white hair so I was hesitant. Of course I saw the black hair photos too so I decided to not worry too much since I thought he looked great with it anyways. As for Esther, I have seen her previous works so I wasn't worried too much. I went into the drama with an open mind, since I was waiting for a long while for it to air. I went in blown away in every single episode. I was so impressed that I could not stop raving about it to my sisters. The editing/cgi, acting, acting, the cast, ost, promos, the beautiful outfits + hairstyles, and just the overall production were so beautiful and consistent. I did not cringe one bit. No misses at all. Everything was soooo beautifully done. So many small and great details. The music would come out at the perfect time, and it was always the correct music usage too. I need the entire OST out already. lol I love the character development each character experienced. I like the redemption arc Rong Hao had + Xufeng too. I was so proud of XuFeng when he changed for the better. I was proud of the side characters, but no one will make me more proud than both our dear canglan couple. They went through so much together. How they grew and learn the world + each other along the way. The way they learned to make sacrifices for each other, respect each other's boundaries/choices, and most of all, willing to suffer hardships together. I love how DFQC changed into this man who learns to respect, love, and care for others -- experiencing all 7 emotions. I also love how innocent XLH is yet she is also so smart & strong in her own ways. I can't forget Changheng though. He really stayed righteous to his character, never once slipping. He really made me proud of him when he knew a lot of things weren't right and chose to not allow that to take that away from his true character. Dang, all the characters were so well written and fleshed out. Made me laugh, cry, smile, and angry with them. The emotions were expressed so well from each person. Standing ovation for the entire cast & crew for sure. Each arc was nicely done and written out. It really showed the growth of each character and their developed relationships with one another. The chemistry was amazing amongst the casts both on and offscreen. I really hope they all remain good friends forever. Hehhe.
As for the ending, I’m fairly content with it. Yes, it does suck that we didn't get much more at the end but it's okay. I've seen worse endings. LOL I think it was fine. I'm sure DFQC was waiting for a long time to come back, so that's why he was extra happy when he saw her again. I'm sure he knew he wasn't done for either but idk. It's very different from the novel. I think both endings were good in their own ways. I had to unlearn and accept that not every ending needs a "we're one big happy family with our 1-4 kids now" type of ending. As long as they are happy together at the end, and I know they are, then I am content with it. Dang, I have so much more to say but I can't put my thoughts into words. All in all, I loved every moment of this drama. Most likely my favorite 2022 cdrama. Haven't loved one since Under The Power. lol I want to go back and re-watch the entire drama from episode 1-36, bc I saw so many small details I missed based on twitter posts. Also, I NEED THE ENTIRE OST ASAP!!!!!!
+ Like someone previously commented, we definitely went through all 7 emotions with DFQC! No regrets at all! I'm fine with being emotionally damaged! LOLOL
I was replying below to one of commenters about XLH not suffering as much as DFQC... which is bullshtI wanna put…
Exactly. In the novel, xiao lan hua actually suffered the most. I like how they still tried to add that into the drama and keep it original in some way.
LOL Personally, I don't think the ending was a dream or open ending like some of y'all said. It feels "abrupt" bc there's way too many expectations, but that was like the ending of the novel too. Short and quick. lol It's a happy ending, just like in the novel. There's so much I could say about the ending and drama overall but I shall be back one of these days to write my long review. Hahha! I really wish we could get some sort of epilogue but Dylan and Esther are very busy with other works too so it's a wishful thinking for now.
