Having read the novel, loved it, and watching the drama, I was not disappointed at all. Although I wasn't fond of them adding the second male lead, he's really no threat to our powerful dongfang qingcang lol There's a lot of changes in the drama version vs the novel, but I actually really like the changes and tweaks to made in the drama version. I really have no complaints at the moment. I'm really, really hoping they don't mess it up later because that would be a disappointment when the entire novel is there for them to follow (even if some changes need to be made). As for Dylan, I am glad we finally found a style and character that matches him for historical dramas. Now all the Dylan slander can end. LOL I think both Esther and Dylan are doing very well playing the roles, so I am happy and proud of them. All in all, so far, I think they are doing well with this adaptation for a first in a long while.
Can someone who has read the book answer this:1. Xiao Lan Hua / Xi Yun, how are they related? 2. Why does she…
I'll tell you right now that the first two questions does not apply to the novel, because it did not exist. It's added to the plot for the drama. There was no second male lead in the novel. As for the ending of the novel, it's a happy ending.
This drama honestly could've been it. It had a lot of potential to be really good but those last few episodes really ruined it. The female lead was fairly annoying but I tried to understand where she was coming from. She really is to blame for a lot of the things that occurred, tbh. Her strong desire to be dependent and also feminist (which there's nothing wrong with that) created a lot of problems more than it solved anything. She didn't know how to balance it all out, but I am also glad that she slightly learns how to be a better person along the way (although not much but some slight development). I just really like the main couple's chemistry and slow burn relationship/love. It was great to see them grow to depend on one another instead of using one another for their own gain. Jeremy Jones was hot in here too, so I'll give it a 7.5-8/10 rating...and that's me being nice to them for giving me a good first part of the drama. LOL
Having watched the drama from beginning to end, personally, I would say the drama isn't too bad. The only bad part was the bad script (blame the author for this, lol) between the main leads and the female lead's character. The cast did a job well done portraying all the characters. I think CDL did well playing our female lead. Good enough to make us hate her character. lol, I just wish people would look past and be mad at the character and not at CDL bc the live comment section on Viki was not it. Anyways, the chemistry between the main lead was good. I think the drama could've been good had our main couple had better communication and FL's character wasn't all over the place. The ending itself was a given considering the novel had it as an open ending, but I personally prefer the drama ending vs the novel version. lol
10 eps in, I still can't understand where all the 10/10 reviews are coming from. The story is only semi-interesting.…
I think it just mainly has to do more with the romance between the main leads, the pace of the drama and the characters itself. The plot could use some work but when watching C-dramas, you just have to throw logic out the window.
Okay, I mean the ending could've been worse but at least it's an open ending that gives us some hope that they will be reunited. It would be nice to get like a special but considering this drama was filmed in 2020, I don't think we'll be getting one. I'm fine with open endings like this that basically lets you know that they will reunite vs. a sad ending where male lead dies. lol I am dishearten that the friends and family died. Like so many characters died but that's such a common thing in republican dramas so I'm lowkey not fazed too lol Just sucks that it had to be the good characters. It must've been hard and lonely for XBC during those 6 years he was all alone. My man deserves better!
Whatttt I didn’t even know season 2 aired already!!! I kept seeing videos thinking it was season 1 but got so confused bc I have never seen any of those scenes lol gotta catch up now.
Just back to say that I am super excited to watch this drama bc their first lifetime will always be one of my favorite lifetimes of theirs. Now that filming has ended, just gotta wait for it to air now. Hopefully, I can be patient until then. lol
Disappointed cannot even start to explain how I felt after this drama. Kept skipping and eventually jumped from…
Well, I didn't know of RJL at when I first watched UTP. I only knew of TSY. I didn't think much about RJL's appearance when I was watching it, but he eventually grew on me. I think many liked this drama mainly because of the main lead's chemistry. The drama is far from perfect and has many flaws, which many of us agrees and know this. We don't expect C-dramas to be perfect, especially historical ones that are low budget. I can't saw it could be worse, which it could, because it could be better also...but them low budget is the hindrance. LOL Many of us mostly watch it for the main lead's scenes together...even though there's not a lot of sweet scenes. And because we like RJL as Lu Da Ren. LOL
How did I just find out that they're doing a drama on this novel? I absolutely love the novel! It was short, funny, cute, but it was also very heartwarming in its own way. I am super excited! Love both Ryan and Chao Yue.
Confirmed. They have found her body today at 1pm. She is officially marked as deceased. This whole situation was very unfortunate. May she Rest In Peace. And def praying for peace over her family/friends.
The drama synopsis def sounds diff from the novel one but I’m still excited for this. I’ll be reaching if I said I hope the drama isn’t too dramatic bc the novel was def very dramatic with all the stuff that went down.
