I'm not sure if that was a preview or just the ending scene of this episode, which showed us a scene from the future, the drama goes back and forth a lot in the story telling to create cliffhangers, I think that's what it is. It might not even happen in ep 11 but farther down the line

Your frustration is totally understandable, the writer is leaving a lot to the viewers to put together and reach conclusions on their own. One pattern has been that the drama is not being shown in chronological order. I think the ROK forest scene happened right before the Lunar New Year. There are a lot of time gaps (maybe upto weeks or months) between Lee Gon's return each time. This is what I tell and convince myself on, otherwise their dramatic reunions would feel too over the top.

As for Lee Min Ho, I was never a fan of his, none of his previous projects stood out for me, but here for the first time, I'm starting to understand the LMH appeal. He does seem very royal and has portrayed a character who is every bit worthy of being followed. The king being a mathematician was just the kind of thing that would have piqued my interest. so well played writer-nim.

WDH has a great role in this drama already. Why would he even want the king's role when he gets to showcase his brilliant acting chops by playing not just 1 but 2 interesting and totally contrasting characters in the same drama. This has to be every actor's dream role. There was this Canadian (was it American?) sci-fi clone drama "Orphan Black" where the main female character got to play so many different characters and won so much praise and accolades for playing each character so distinctly. WDH is doing such a superb job of playing both characters, there's never a moment of doubt on which character he is in any given scene, even when both his characters are taking each other's place in the drama. I'm constantly amazed by his acting skills. Trading these interesting characters for the main role would be such a waste for WDH

As someone who reads way too much epic fantasy and scifi novels, I'm terribly curious about the plot, it is such an original idea. The fact that the other side has had that many years to put their pieces in place makes me so nervous. The acting is A+ by everyone, and unlike all the haters, I do like the main leads, they have plenty of chemistry. My main complaint is around the pacing. Too many initial episodes were wasted on fluff and things not related to the main plot and now all of the actual drama will be compacted in the last few episodes. That is a real shame. Like did we really need one entire episode to see the king as the commander in chief of the navy in that sea battle, how was any of that related to the central plot. The writer really is frustrating, needs to make her storytelling crisp without wasting time on nothings and pace the story properly from beginning to end. I'm disappointed and frustrated because I like all the characters, the concept and the main suspenseful plot just that much. Anyways, I'm in it till the end. Totally agree with you on more angst coming our way. This is the writer of Goblin and Mr. Sunshine, angst is her middle name.

Whoaaa... I was thinking it would be TE traveling back in time but this makes so much more sense. This could really be it.

Personally I think time travel was in the cards from episode 1, how else would TE's police identification badge have reached 1995.

Same, I really liked AML, KMS's acting skills showed major improvements there and while that story of AML was equally ridiculous, the leads carried that drama really well. Not so sure about Welcome, not because of KMS, but the story overall hasn't grabbed me yet.

I'm probably in the minority here, but I'm in love with this drama. Personally, I'm a fan of nontraditional storytelling, getting bits and pieces of the information and the story unfolding in a nonlinear fashion. With just the 1st episode, I've made a lot of guesses and assumptions to fill in the intentional gaps, I'm looking forward to figuring out how close my guesses will come. The cinematography and music is to die for. Somehow, it is such a soothing and immersive viewing experience. It's one of those rare dramas where I'll definitely be watching the 1st episode again. So if anyone out there is on the fence about giving this a chance, I'd suggest trying it out for yourself. The screenwriter also wrote "On the Way to the Airport", same as that drama, this one has an air of melancholy about it. "A Piece of Your Mind" fighting-minda.

You should give it a try, it isn't flawless by any means, but it has so many redeeming qualities, a most interesting concept, really solid acting, beautiful cinematography et.

Yep, this drama does make you think a lot, like for example, what a difference even a single choice can make. All the characters are seriously flawed and make mistakes, including the MLs which is refreshing to see. I'm really liking the low-key romance aspect of the drama too. And there are moments every now and then when Tae Pyung goes about being a major adorable dork, adds a nice comic relief break in the story. Even though the plot is far from perfect and the cops don't follow proper police procedures which would drive me nuts with any other drama, this one has me coming back for more. Strange indeed.

Agreed, it takes really good acting and writing to help you relate to so many different perspectives. I can almost see Hyun Woo as an anti-hero, rather than an over the top villain. Tae Pyung's actions though aggravating (like dude blatantly keeps breaking the law) are understandable, in terms of his mindset and where he's coming from, his intentions. Also, it's not just Seo Joon he's trying to save but the whole squad, so that's definitely adding to his urgency and his determination to sacrifice himself for the many. I really like how much there is to take in about predestination in this drama, the underlying debate on free will versus destiny.

I can't help but feel that this is playing out as a self fulfilling prophesy, the characters have had various discussions about this, like had young Tae Pyung not told young Do Kyung about how he dies, perhaps all this might not have happened in the first place. Also, Tae Pyung keeps taking actions to prevent the outcome he foresaw but it seems like we keep moving towards that outcome more and more because of Tae Pyung's preventive actions. Like the car blowing up gave me chills because this is probably how Do Kyung will end up with the burn scar on his face that he has when he is seen committing suicide.
