She still is in defensive mode 🤦‍♀️ I think by bringing up the perfume, her excuse/ implication is that early into the pregnancy she did send him 6 months worth of perfumes in advance so it wasn’t like she intended to lie but was just too afraid to tell it to his face directly. Basically gaslighting him into believing that he should have noticed something was off because of the random large supply? With her it could be anything honestly.

Yes, she definitely did it behind his back because she knew how he would react/ thought it would be the least painful way for him to deal with it by being in the dark (afterall her plan was almost perfect if it wasn’t for the maid).

As for the agreement, perhaps at the time both truly didn’t think they needed kids. My guess is that they married really young (if the current husband is a childhood friend of the FL, there is a chance that Yun may have met her through him during their HS years or so).

In the ex-wife’s defense, the stakes of having a child is much higher for her than for Yun so Yun might have found it more easier to change his mind later on. He was a successful lawyer at the time and his private family life was at peak too given all the wholesome Hash flashbacks. What she should have done is talk to him. She wasn’t in the wrong after all since they did agree.

Sorry by Ex I meant KHM’s ex boyfriend. He ghosted her simply because he didn’t want to risk having a deaf child (it’s his choice but he was quite arrogant with the way he kept referring to KHM as if she was some kind of prize instead of a person). The stigma of being connected to a disability is too harsh in South Korea unfortunately. It was even reminded in today’s episode when the defendant’s mother would rather accept a false statement than risk her daughter being labeled as disabled (even though in this case it was for her safety more than anything else).

The parent are a real piece of work NGL. Based on the flashback, I guess it was the continuous harassment from the paternal side’s mother that finally broke the mother. In hindsight though, it looks like the sister’s upbringing was far better than the FL’s since she seems more well adjusted (aside from yearning for her mother of course which is a trauma of it’s own).

About Yun’s Ex. I guess the main reason why he can’t let go of his past is because he is still involved in her life due to their co-parenting agreement and it also looks like he never really found closure. Hopefully now that things are out in the open, he willl be able to let go. Specially since he’s talked about his feelings with somebody neutral (KHM).

Exactly, if she respected their marriage at all, she would have at least tried to reason with him (if he changed his mind) seeing as they did agree before getting married to be child free. It’s not like Yun is an irrational person after all (or at least he doesn’t seem to be like that). Her going behind his back ruined and even lying after getting caught ruined any chance for them to reconcile.

Saying his “entire” reaction is disrespectful isn’t fair at all.

Sure he should move on but honestly how would you feel if your partner not only hid an abortion from you but even continued to lie about it even after you told her you knew about the pregnancy? By her own words, they agreed to be child free but if they are partners, the least she could have done is to let him know what’s going on. Abortions aren’t safe for the mother even at times. What if she died during the abortion and he had no idea what was going on? She broke their partnership the moment she deceived him.

Her telling him that the baby could have been his if he was patient is cruel and disrespectful for both Yun (and even her current husband) because she never gave him the chance to even know what was going on. She sidelined him completely. If the maid didn’t show him the test he would have never known after all. Asking someone to be patient after getting caught lying is arrogant of her.

Her reasoning for the abortion is completely understandable but she shouldn’t have kept him in the dark (she admitted it too).

The Ex’s reaction in ep 1 explains why (and they explained it later in detail as well). It’s not about the hardships of being deaf but more like how the family’s reputation will be tarnished (ridiculous I know!).

Don’t worry, like with most legal dramas they’ll likely throw one hell of a curve ball soon enough.

Her response was a too blunt. She’s right technically but at the same time he didn’t leave her just because she randomly decided she didn’t want a baby - her actions and deception throughout her termination was something he couldn’t move forward from. One could argue that If she didn’t lie to him and keep him in the dark, perhaps things could have been different. What she said was insulting to both Yun and her current husband.

I want to give the subs the benefit of the doubt though since perhaps what she said in Korean may have not been as harsh as the translation suggested (it’s Netflix after all). She did acknowledge her mistake and seemed to be in good terms enough to even be his perfume supplier so it seems odd she’d be this cruel to somebody close who is already in shock.

The perfume comment was unnecessary though since perfume is the last thing on his mind at that time. It’s interesting to know this though seeing as KHM made it a point to comment once or twice how she loved Yun’s scent. 🤔

They are so pretentious they don’t deserve to meet her. Even the mum - after all the sister is living with her family. Couldn’t she even try to reconnect with her daughter once she grew up?Even as a distant aunt?

It’s probably 1 episode per day throughout the week since my streaming site is indicating that ep 17 will be released in 10HRS time. Not sure if this will change if they include an Express package later.

Perhaps an old mentor? He doesn’t trust easily nor plays bias so whoever she is must have done something truly admirable in the past.

Knockoff - their bet is interesting ngl. Technically the Pink suit lady was right. She did own an authentic piece but at the same time the 100K Won lady is correct too since it’s a knockoff.

They are both snobby frenemies so they’ll probably agree to disagree and move on from the whole tattoo thing. Since the Pink lady sued the artist, she’ll probably anyway win some sort of compensation eventually. So it’s not a complete loss - just a bruise to her ego.

Lee & So is one of their key rivals so they tend to meet more frequently. It’s like Deloitte vs. KPMG (of the BIG 4 in the professional service industry) in real life.

We might come across other law firms eventually too but I feel like they have bigger plans for Yullim vs. L&S since they keep bringing in the Partners into the plot too.

Yes! It kind of reminded me of Resident Playbook for a minute there. It was fun seeing their training sessions (and how the seniors used their resources to help out KHM indirectly by scheduling the impromptu training session in the first place).

KHM also still has his handkerchief with her even though it must be at least a week since the last time he handed it over to her. The fact that he let her keep it and the fact that she uses it in the office space suggest that there could be something more in the future? At least that’s what handkerchiefs symbolize in historical romances anyway (not sure if I’m going overboard here).

In a more obvious way, Yun publicly acknowledged her as an attorney finally (I mean previously she was viewed as a bit of a trouble maker but now he truly is willing to trust in her work).

Exactly! There was no resentment/ envy in her eyes even knowing the fact that her identical twin go to live with her parents whereas she was discarded due to a reason beyond her control. She seemed so well adjusted. That last text about how her adopted family taught her lip reading so it would be easier for her to navigate with her bio family if they ever reunite was just heartbreaking 💔

Today’s case really dwelt into the stereotype that lawyers are “evil”. The fact that the team from Lee & So was already on the cusp of winning but their greed and cockiness was what caused their downfall was so fun to watch. Just hated how the female attorney was purposely being aggressive just to trigger the poor defendant.

On the other side, I just love how KHM’s fellow team members were so genuinely happy for her. You’d expect at least some kind of rivalry/ envy (since hearing Yoon praise anybody is equivalent to at least 1,000 stickers), but everybody was so giddy with joy 🤩

It’s not that unheard of though. Even in Encounter, Song Hye Kyo and Park Bo Gum have a 12 year age gap (and she was the CEO while he was a 1st year employee too). As long as the crew handles their romance arc tastefully, it shouldn’t be too much of an issue ideally - specially since in Beyond the Bar’s case, the legal team’s private life isn’t the main focus of the drama.

NGL there is something about him that stands out. His face (and sharp gaze) screams his thoughts out some how. He doesn’t need lines - you know when he is displeased/ amused/ up to something.🙊
